Munich Way of St. James, stage 11 Auerberg - Marktoberdorf

On October 21st, 2023 I wake up after a restful night in the Panorama Hotel on the Auerberg.
After packing my belongings, I go to the breakfast room at 7:30 a.m. In addition to a brilliant breakfast buffet, the sunrise over the Alps awaits me there.
The nice landlady allows me to take two rolls with me on the way.
After paying the bill, I get my first pilgrim stamp on the way to St. George's Church.
On the Auerberg I record the video for Psalm 23 in English, "The Lord is my Shepherd", which I dedicate to the afflicted people of Israel and Ukraine. #StandwithIsrael #StandwithUkraine
Then I start today's Camino towards Stötten. On the way I see a memorial plaque for the Roman settlement of Damasia, which was once on the Auerberg. I treat myself to a little break on a bench and enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains.
In Stötten the houses have names and are artfully decorated. At the Gasthof Sonne I treat myself to a non-alcoholic pilgrim wheat beer and an Allgäu lunch.
Afterwards I visit the Church of St. Peter and Paul, where I meet St. James.
We continue again in the rain via Burk with the church of St. Sebastian to Bertholdshofen with the church dedicated to the Archangel Michael.
The pilgrim hostel in Marktoberdorf is closed until 2024 for renovation.
In the church, the family from Marktoberdorf, where I'm staying overnight, calls me and picks me up in the car on the outskirts of town.
There will be coffee and cake and later dinner with 5 lovely relatives!
I calculate the 3 km less to Marktoberdorf against the 8 plus kilometers from yesterday. Instead of 16 km, my stage today is only 14.7 km long.
