We've had 5 Airedales never had a problem. They're playful, pushy, bossy, demented, greedy, stubborn and demanding, but never vicious. If you can handle the first part,no problem. One word these are powerful dogs, if you're not familiar with dogs take advice or read up.Best dogs by a mile the love you get back is unwavering(sometimes unneeded after a drink) enjoy your dog.
Yes they are very powerful and can lift a grown man, but they will push rather than bite. If they have to protect, and they will, they make it known in no uncertain terms that they can. They know when and more importantly when not. There's never any mental random attack here.
I'm on our 7th Airedale and this particular one is not like our others. He goes ballistic when he sees another dog on our walks. It's been a long 4 years of frustration, however bringing another dog into our yard or home is no big deal. There's the initial stiffness they exhibit upon initial meeting then it's butt in the air and zoomies
We've had two Airedales and never a problem with aggression. Our last, a female, was however friendly and eager to play but too large for most other dogs. She unfortunately made even our neighbor's standard Poodles skittish.
We took in a very nervous Collie-cross rescue with one of our Airedales. She quickly got the idea that she now had a very powerful pack mate and would deliberately twit other dogs up. We had intended to socialize our current then-puppy Airedale with a Great Dane that no other dogs would play with but then covid struck. My uncle kept Standard Poodles, they are quite nervous. Airedales are the opposite of nervous, they like fireworks. We've just had him go marathon-races and bitey-face around the house with the indestructible crocodile for sheer joi de vivre. They're very energetic, 37kg of muscle in the house equals garden time. Cuddles are like amateur leopard wrestling.
I've kept Airedales my entire life. You have never kept Airedales, so do not post rubbish. They have never been aggressive to other dogs, they don't need to be and much prefer to be friends. A pair of Airedales playing bitey-face may look like world war three but it is just a game.
