If the MLS, NASL, USL just got together and came to an agreement to establish themselves as 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions and implement a relegation/promotion system - this country would dominate and become more competitive in *world football*
It would be great would make the MLS be in conversation with other European leagues. Unfortunately club owners have agreed to not have a regelation I think it stemmed down to ownership and money. Root of it all.. capitalism
Not necessarily. It’s important to remember just how much of a distance MLS is from the other leagues. USL is running on finances much more similar to non-league. Any relegation from mls to USL would bankrupt a club. It’s just far too big of a risk for a sport that has been growing so well in its current form for over 25 years
What I really appreciate about this club is how genuine it is. With football in the US it’s so manufactured, it’s cookie cutter really. There’s no soul behind it, just millionaires and billionaires who only care about making money. DCFC got it out the fucking mud it looks like, and it’s why the authenticity of this club cannot be questioned. Their involvement with the club and the community is exactly what club football is all about. After all, the club is a reflection of the community itself. Look at all the great clubs of the world. Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern, Borussia Dortmund. So many others I’m missing, all direct representations of the communities and areas they’re in. So fucking awesome to see this in US football. In a world of fakes and pretenders, DCFC got it right. Cheers.
FifaExpert 97 right now it's just not the best choice for the US. I don't wanna go to In-depth with it, but I will say the US isn't going to be using pro/rel anytime soon for many good reasons
This is what a football club should look like, it grows organically with time, people of the surrounding community start to feel passionate and somewhat part of the club which brings them together. This is pretty much the same story as every club in every major football country and league around the world, its pretty cool to see it in the US, to see a club bring people together without even the "hope" of being able to get promoted and go through the leagues to the promised land (MLS) is amazing and sad at the same time, being able to go through those emotions of euphoria by going up a league or sorrow of not making it is a large part of our game and its quite sad that the structure in the US is pretty much in favor of people buying they're way into the top league which doesn't help a club or its fans feel as passionate as they do about some of the lower clubs which grew organically with a fan base that cares more about the community and the impact of the club on it rather than seeing older players coming over for a pay day and fun in the sun, for US football to really be considered as a major player in this sport it has to bring in promotion and relegation. this will even help the development of players, like they say in England a player doesn't really develop until he plays against "men" who are playing for their livelihood and their mortgages which usually happens in the lower leagues this doesnt mean just send them out on loan to a club who might just fight for the league it also means sending them to a club that is struggling to stay in the league and when people who work for the club depend on results for their job (club employees) its a different kind of pressure which really does change a player and the person who is being developed. sorry for the rambling but i do feel passionately about soccer in the US, even though i'm not American i can see the potential and have been a for more than ten years now, i'm sure if i can feel this passionately about the sport that i love and many others love which i can see from your videos there must be a solution to this problem or US soccer unfortunately will be stuck in mediocracy forever. A message to anybody who disagrees with me. I understand that the American mindset is all about business and profits but soccer was never meant to be like that, all these giant soccer clubs became HUGE because of their history, many clubs have gone bankrupt in Europe and probably many will go bankrupt in the future but at the end of the day soccer is meant to be enjoyed and being part of a larger league with promotion and relegation gives fans and players more chance to enjoy this game that we all love and also gives clubs a fair opportunity to show their creativeness on how they compete with other clubs that richer than they are.
Plus when teams go bankrupt the fans often revive them as phoenix clubs. And I think most people agree that the history carries over. Like todays AFC Wimbledon.
What a great story. An up and coming club driven by a groundswell of grass roots supporters. This reminds me of the birth of soccer in England. Workers would fill the stadiums, knowing it was their club, not the plaything of billionaires. You'll go from strength to strength. Best wishes from the UK
The track DCFC is taking is quite similar the route taken by the Orlando Lions. DCFC is moving up the ladder. 2022 and they are a USL team, and hosted the Columbus Crew, and upset them. There will be more coverage as the season rolls on.
It's part of a globalist/UN propaganda campaign to better control the world's human population. If you have the power to create friction between people you can control them. These globalist types know that singling out very small groups of people for promotion it will irritate others. This is also true in race relations. Instead of increasing comity it increases friction between groups. This allows for more rules/laws/control and less freedom. Not unlike the Olympics soccer/football has been used as the circus part of the bread and circus philosophy governments have used for eons to control their idiot masses.
Americans loved soccer back in the 1920s. That love was renewed in the mid-1960s, through the 1970s with the NASL & the ASL. It grew too much and collapsed in the early 1980s, re-started with the 1994 World Cup & MLS, stumbled again, but had grown since.
Man I wish I was the commissioner of MLS... I would meet with these supporters in a heartbeat and bring them to the league and BUILD AROUND them going coast to coast.
Elephunn season just ended last night in pens unfortunately. We normally have a Homecoming game in October though. Hope to see you there. Great atmosphere and passion
i think the video is somewhat unfair to MLS fans, fan groups like the Cauldron in KC, the Iron Lions and Ruckus in Orlando, fan groups in Toronto, even the 3252 of LAFC are just as passionate as these guys, MLS has recognized the fans. Just because a team is big doesn't mean the fans aren't a part of the club, and being small doesn't necessarily make you niche. Now that being said, Detroit City FC is a great club and they have great fans, and it would be great to see that team and that group in the MLS, but that can't come about without steady financial backing and better facilities. There is no reason why Detroit CIty FC can't be an MLS team and keep its homegrown feel, but there is no reason to hate on MLS for wanting to put another team there if they can't come to an agreement with Detroit City FC. I hope that if Detroit gets an MLS team that everyone included can come to an agreement about the club including: new owners, Detroit City FC and the Northern Guard.
Upon first meeting my friend Joey who is a member of Iron Lion Firm he told me to make the most of every match before MLS ruins it for us. Every October when we see each other at Fest in Gainesville Florida we exchange gear and talk about our club's.
From what I have seen I don't see how MLS has ruined it for Orlando, the club there I feel has done a great job with the fanatical standing section allowing the supporters to maintain the atmosphere and being a one entity league I would think that MLS would have had some say in that
I totally get that, I love what NG do and what DCFC do, I think there would probably be a way for both sides to work together, but both will have to make concessions and surely as supporters they want to bring their style to more people and get more people to love soccer the way they do and surely MLS's reach can help with that. I just don't think taking a stand against MLS helps them in the long run.
Football clubs should always start from the grass roots, not from CEO mIllionaire's boardrooms. Football clubs must always represent the people and the community first and foremost. Detroit City FC are doing it right.
It would be cool for them to use the old Packard factory as a stadium base. Close the the Keyworth Stadium but big enough room to build a red brick stadium
You guys should do a series on lower division teams, showing American soccer that isn't MLS, I support the charleston Battery, and I love the true feel from the fans and supporter groups. And honestly as good as they do in their division, if there was pro/rel, they might have already reached the MLS.
Great video COPAUS, as always you turn the little non heard of things into a bigger more important story in this world of football. Pat I respect you my bro 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Saturday Night was my first game. The fact it took me so long to get out to one is disappointing. NGS forever and City Til I Die. What a group, what a club. Glad to now be apart of it.
I see a lot of people calling these fans "cringy". Most people here just don't get it. Football/Soccer is passionate sport. It's not like american football or basketball where most people are simply bandwagons. There's more "passion' even in college sports than in Pro sports in the US. I went to a Barcelona game in Dallas at the Cowboys stadium and we started a chant and some man told us to sit down, I was like wtf this is not a library this is Football/Soccer. Most people are not used to this culture, and now that we have it in the MLS they simply call it "cringe". Most Americans just don't get it and yes, I am American.
At first I was really skeptical at the rebranding of this channel when you had Cafu kicking at a drone, but this video was awesome, keep up the great work.
That "motivational speech" was really cringe-y, chill you're cheating on a team, not saving lives. Get over yourself and just have a good time, get off your high horse.
Timbers Army scarf at 4:20 ! I'm wholly RCTID, but after dropping by for the match against St Pauli, I feel like I'm also, in some way DCTID. Best club in America for all I think. I honestly wanted to move to Detroit after that match solely to support the club.
BuT AmErIcAn SuPpOrTeRs ArE PlAsTiC. Thanks for this video and proving the eurosnobs how passionate us american fans are. Most are passionate like this. Others cant cuz of their stadium rules but do it in the street
I think 4th division soccer is a very real version of soccer it feels so corporate with the mls and the usl not so much the nasl but npsl atmosphere is so great
Tim Petty YES! I just finished explaining this to someone. Non-league soccer is the closest you'll get to authentic feeling soccer in this country, and it's because these clubs are run by passion. These clubs are run by locals, even the stadium this club is playing in was repaired by people that live there. These clubs are truly community based.
In your interview, did you ask how they would feel IF (big if) MLS were to loosen up a bit on fan culture and allow clubs to govern and work with supporters to develop traditions/styles that celebrated their passion? Or do you think that bridge is burned?
That is the greatest compliment. A number of us look up to them for their DIY ethics, their political stances, and in all the work they do in their community.
Matthew Smyth I remember some years back when I was in Germany. I saw my favorite club Bayern Munich v St. Pauli, 5 mins into the game I found myself inexplicably rooting for St. Pauli. The atmosphere was just electric.
Well when sporting and ultras have a history of homophobia they want to do their best to show that it isnt the case with them..and honestly does it fucking matter? Like seriously it's no big deal at all.
While I truly admire you guys for doing much with so little resources, I hate to admit that MLS in the long run is your best option for the future...the teams that you play each year vary because they change so much and going into MLS will provide stability for Detroit City FC....good luck with your future!!!!
And what would soccer be without them. Jut like you'd watch a game without the sound being turned on. They might not pay that much attention to the game, but have you never been wondering how players can get such a high morale thanks to them ? They help DCFC win the matches
But there's no pro-reg so good luck making it to the "big leagues." (You don't want to make it there) The US did it wrong... Sad. This is what builds clubs and makes them big
I love what detroit city has done for soccer in michigan but i still want an mls team and honestly i think the only reason they are so convinced itd be terrible is that theyd have competition. Also why cant new teams ever be original with names lol if the mls team is detroit united or some other generic name im going to be so pissed 😂
They're thought that an MLS team would be terrible is true for them. The MLS won't allow flares, smoke bombs, chants that include swearing, etc. The northern guard isn't family friendly. MLS wants to be family friendly more than anything
The MLS should go to Ann Arbor, they have the MLS attitude. Detroit City is not MLS, its special because the kids that dont get paid and play because they love the game, the fans respect them even more for that. Local beer, fowling, smoke, swearing, and real fan base is what make DCFC great.
If they're happy with the way they are, that's fine. This is as big as they'll ever get. They're not all that inclusive either. I don't find them that "cringy" per say, but I think they've got inflated egos. Their club will never truly grow and MLS is the only option which means losing a lot of your supporter group. They're a blip, and they'd better be happy being a blip.
We have FC St. Pauli coming tomorrow and Necaxa coming in July, not to mention taking two "pro" clubs into extra time in Open Cup. Not to shabby for a "lower" club. Who's not growing?
Juan Ramirez because it's not what our city needs at this point. Not when we already have a passionate club. What good does a billionaire buying public land and using TAX PAYER money do for a city which is yes on the come up but still not in a great situation financially
More teams can compete in the city it's really up to the casuals and who they want to follow. NG choose their team, now others can choose other teams. I don't see a issue, managing a team is a business foremost you compete to win fans over. If someone comes in with money well guess what time to step up your game; simple as that.
Mate this is what business people do, every team is about competing for fans. You can always oppose their ideas by going to the city meetings and letting the mayor know not to use tax payers money, but at the end of the day; it's a business, a ideology of what you create. Competition is what it is. Fans decide it at the end of the day.
If the MLS, NASL, USL just got together and came to an agreement to establish themselves as 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions and implement a relegation/promotion system - this country would dominate and become more competitive in *world football*
There are so many amateur leagues that could also feed into this... Americans deserve opportunity in soccer
Nah. But would get over a great disputy With Liga MX on Conca Champions
It would be great would make the MLS be in conversation with other European leagues. Unfortunately club owners have agreed to not have a regelation I think it stemmed down to ownership and money. Root of it all.. capitalism

Why can't the US just adopt a promotion/relegation system?
FifaExpert 97 give it some time it's going through the CAS
FifaExpert 97 it doesn't make sense financially right now.
FifaExpert 97 The MLS is basically built on money and money making franchises
FifaExpert 97 right now it's just not the best choice for the US. I don't wanna go to In-depth with it, but I will say the US isn't going to be using pro/rel anytime soon for many good reasons

What I like about DC FC is that it is so easy to sneak into the stadium, and if you can't sneak in there is some nice people who give away tickets
They're not dcfc they're a load of melts and puffs fucking yanks
Stapo2 Well that was uncalled for.
Stapo2 you idiot

Greatness gotta be recognized.
To see where they are at in the usl this is truly an inspiring story to see
Agreed
Dope video. Dudes have the best crest in North American soccer.
This club is one of the reasons why we need promotion and relegation

genuine question. what is it with us soccer and lgbt? i don't see that much campaign in other sport like football, baseball, or basketball
abizar rachman us in particular (DCFC) are open to everyone and want to make that known
abizar rachman you don't see it in other leagues too

Its like they watched a bunch of St. Pauli vids and said "Hey, lets do that"
5 years later Detroit City FC is in the USL-C
Love This. DCTID. WE WILL BE HERE FOREVER. NO MATER MLS OR NOT. HERE NOW FOREVER
DCFC has really inspired me to contribute a startup club in my city. Its amazing story. I love it
what club?
After todays win against The Crew, this video should get some more attention.
Salute Copa!!
Would love to see a story about FC Cincinnati in the USL. But loved this video. Great job as always!

COPA90 US FC Cincinnati
COPA90 US Barcelona
Indy eleven
Miami FC
Indy eleven
I live in Detroit I had season tickets this year when they made it to the national semifinal
I really hope US Soccer changes it's structure. Seeing videos like this gives me joy that every community engages in supporting local club Football.
Glad Americans are finally starting to join the rest of the world in our collective love for the beautiful game
Americans loved soccer back in the 1920s. That love was renewed in the mid-1960s, through the 1970s with the NASL & the ASL. It grew too much and collapsed in the early 1980s, re-started with the 1994 World Cup & MLS, stumbled again, but had grown since.
Ugh, I love videos like this! Great Job! Please consider doing one similar for Indy Eleven if thats possible. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Thanks, David!

Great to hear. We love every single person who comes and supports city
Yes, MLS content, and by PAT, couldn't ask for more.
Sadly here in America more hippies and rainbows are getting into football (soccer) and like it or not it's giving the sport a pussified name....

Does anyone know what song begins at around 5:15 in this video?
Great mini doc. I love seeing the passion and support the Northern Guard has for DCFC!
It would be cool for them to use the old Packard factory as a stadium base. Close the the Keyworth Stadium but big enough room to build a red brick stadium
This is incredible COPA90 US
Love this documentary, finally some recognition for Le rouge
Dillon Hall yes!!! Especially after what happened last night
Excited about the rebranding. Best of luck COPA90US!
2:25 He's so anti corporate that he's wearing an MLB hat and buttoning his shirt to the top button.
Damn and this team just made it to the play offs in the USL , ohh how it has come far from here
Great work! Thank you for coming to Detroit and highlighting our club. UTFC! DCTID!
As a Revs supporter I hope you guys get in 🙏
Amazing video to watch today, as we are division 2 now, and nothing has changed! CITY TILL I DIE!!

Drew Kelley dude my thoughts exactly my eyes almost rolled out of my head with that extreme fan talk
Forreal lol
Can they not support their team? That's like telling your mom to not cheer for you at games because you're not as good as the other kids lmao
God forbid people get motivated.
To be clear, that’s 10 seconds of a 2 or so minute speech.

Matthew Smyth so you copy them for everything ? Even the black ? Sad sack
I'm liking the new look copa 90 us
Inclusivity is great and all, but whats with the rainbow shit everywhere? Cant you just be inclusive by not being homophobic?
FirstItGiveth Exactly. Preach man 🙌
Well when sporting and ultras have a history of homophobia they want to do their best to show that it isnt the case with them..and honestly does it fucking matter? Like seriously it's no big deal at all.
Mega thought of MLS and Detriot. What would u call the team???
6:23 dude, unbutton the top of your shirt. You trying to be Jerry Seinfeld?
Ok. How do you get to the MLS ? I mean I know that there is no promotion/relegation system in the MLS, so how do you do it ?
Lower league footballl becomes more and more attractive , big clubs in the top leagues have become sellouts and destroyed the leagues.
While I truly admire you guys for doing much with so little resources, I hate to admit that MLS in the long run is your best option for the future...the teams that you play each year vary because they change so much and going into MLS will provide stability for Detroit City FC....good luck with your future!!!!
Didn't know it was possible for a team's supporters to be more hipster and liberal than St. Pauli in Germany.
This is what I call SOCCER PASSION. I would definitely invest in it.
No thank you. Just a bunch of wannabe Ultras that pay more attention to themselves than what's happening on the pitch.
Brian Blattert That's what all ultras do. Few exciting moments in the game so they have to make their own entertainment till someone actually scores.
And what would soccer be without them. Jut like you'd watch a game without the sound being turned on. They might not pay that much attention to the game, but have you never been wondering how players can get such a high morale thanks to them ? They help DCFC win the matches
Such quality, congrats!!!
Copa90 us do something on the Canadian premier league
A video on the rivalry between Cincinnati FC and Louisville City FC would be great!
But there's no pro-reg so good luck making it to the "big leagues." (You don't want to make it there) The US did it wrong... Sad. This is what builds clubs and makes them big
Thatn_ggajandro there is a movement heating up actually just recently in the news. Give it some time
If there is plans for more videos on small clubs you should do one on the 1999 U.S. Open Cup and Rochester Rhinos.
So many hipsters! They are trying way to hard to be "different"
Manuel Diaz, Jr. And how is that a problem? We can't be ourselves anymore?
Manuel Diaz, Jr. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Not to be a dick to hipsters or anything.
let me guess....You are the typical Mexican with a thick accent and somebrero
Being yourself isn’t trying to be like others
Finally! Make more videos on fan culture in North America
I think they're a little too cringy. They try a little too hard to sound revolutionary, good luck to the club though.
That's my soccer coach in the bottom row at 6:24 lol
I love what detroit city has done for soccer in michigan but i still want an mls team and honestly i think the only reason they are so convinced itd be terrible is that theyd have competition. Also why cant new teams ever be original with names lol if the mls team is detroit united or some other generic name im going to be so pissed 😂
because that's how you get horrible football club names like Columbus Crew and Los Angeles Galaxy.
Should be called ARSENAL of Democracy
They're thought that an MLS team would be terrible is true for them. The MLS won't allow flares, smoke bombs, chants that include swearing, etc. The northern guard isn't family friendly. MLS wants to be family friendly more than anything
The MLS should go to Ann Arbor, they have the MLS attitude. Detroit City is not MLS, its special because the kids that dont get paid and play because they love the game, the fans respect them even more for that. Local beer, fowling, smoke, swearing, and real fan base is what make DCFC great.
Thomas Goodman fuck ann arbor 😂 maybe grand rapids would be a decent location
Seriously need to take in a Detroit City FC game in next time I'm there, Go City!
Who's not growing?
de132 this isn’t the big as they will get... they just had their biggest attendance record. and now it’s even on tv (fox sports Detroit)
Nice, you have similar colors to my club in the UK, Heart of Midlothian. You got a new fan! 👍
Down
They might as well change the name of the team to SJW FC
American pride brother
They gotta be less political
Rudy Garcia Ultras being political? That is unheard of *cough*Besiktas*cough*Rangers*cough*Sturm Graz*cough*literally any club*cough*
Political clubs worldwide
This video made me realize Pat is more than just the friend they keep around to make fun of. :)
Why is every typho or sign or shirt LGBT related, pushing political agenda in sports whether it be right or left is stupid.
Sports have a history of being political, it's hard to remove politics from sports like this
Well would you look at Detroit City FC now, they are in the USL!
R.I.P Kick
like these new vids tho 👍🏼
Thanks!
What is the name of begining music
same lol tryna find it
And I will gladly debate anyone on why ML$ in Detroit is an awful thing
Carson N Ok Why?
Juan Ramirez because it's not what our city needs at this point. Not when we already have a passionate club. What good does a billionaire buying public land and using TAX PAYER money do for a city which is yes on the come up but still not in a great situation financially
More teams can compete in the city it's really up to the casuals and who they want to follow. NG choose their team, now others can choose other teams. I don't see a issue, managing a team is a business foremost you compete to win fans over. If someone comes in with money well guess what time to step up your game; simple as that.
huamanJR this is not only about them being in a soccer team if you read what I replied you'd see how this isn't a good thing financially
Mate this is what business people do, every team is about competing for fans. You can always oppose their ideas by going to the city meetings and letting the mayor know not to use tax payers money, but at the end of the day; it's a business, a ideology of what you create. Competition is what it is. Fans decide it at the end of the day.
That's PASSION. Good luck guys! Great video!
Bigger than Tigres
killjoy7 no
Bigger ? HA
Ridiculously amazing video. Fantastic stuff. Keep the good work coming guys!
