Scott is the cable cam king! I've been out with him for a few shoots am always amazed at his vision for getting the right frame. Never settles for good enough.
Thanks Levi, means a lot coming from you. Cable cams are such a love/hate thing but when the shot works, it always feels worth it. That one you are talking about took 32 takes and 1.5 days to get haha!
@@camshand Yeah those cable shots often trick people into thinking I'm an amazing drone pilot (which I am not haha). Hoping to pick up a motorized cable cam this year and film some next-level stuff!
This is awesome work. The only thing I personally don't like, is the trail being created while the rider is on it - it would be easy for someone to think it was green screen work. I watched the BTS vids, so I know its not, but the rest of this is absolutely great.
This is such a great reel Scott. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to come along for some of these projects. It's amazing to see the hard work you put in take their final form on the screen. I appreciated every moment I was able to learn from all the talent, work ethic and skill you put into your work. I'm really stoked for what comes up for you in 2022!
Absolutely amazing. Can’t even imagine how much work went into filming this. Combined with marks amazing riding makes this one of the best mtb cinematography pieces I have ever witnessed. Very inspiring
Thank you, appreciate the kind words. This is the culmination of 2-3 years of filming various projects so definitely a ton of work! Really glad you like it!
The pacing, the sound design and of course the visuals... One of the best piece i've seen in a long time. A true manifest of your work and dedication to developp and share your passion for filmmaking and storytelling. Also, BC looks fantastic with your colorgrade, rich and deep, i just love it ! Very well done Scott !
Thank you Lucas! I love putting together a reel - it's really satisfying to see everything in one place. Appreciate you following along and the kind words.
Thanks for watching! Most of the longer shots flying through the forest are cable camera work. I try to maintain a consistent distance between the camera and the rider and as deep of a focal plane as possible since I currently don't have a follow focus mounted on my cable rig. Check out the playlist on my channel about my cable cam rig if you are curious how the setup works.
Wow this is beautiful work! Maintaining the look you have in your color grading for all the shots is amazing to me. I struggle trying to match up my color grades. Are you shooting raw?
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it! I don't shoot raw but have been shooting most stuff in log. I use Cinematch to match log curves from different cameras and it works great. Otherwise, I make sure first I'm color correcting my footage to look neutral, then I come in after to do any grading work.
Hey Scott, just came by to subscribe to your channel after seeing your reel on GH5 fb group, but I realized I'm already subscribed! One of the many things I'm impressed with is how clean all the movement is. I was curious of the shots in this reel, how much is done with post processing like warp stabilizer? Are you using sliders in the field? Or just really steady hands? Anyway some killer stuff, and fun to see amazing creators still kicking the gh5.
Cheers, thank you for checking out my reel! A lot of shots need minor warp stabilizer but I avoid it as much as possible. None of the cable cam shots have any warp stabilizer applied, just a gimbal and IBIS. Otherwise, a number of the shots are done with a slider or gimbal in the field. Sometimes just handheld work too. So basically, it's a mixed bag but do my best to have nice fluid movements if that's what the shot requires. Sorry that might not be super helpful haha! Thanks again.
Cheers, thanks so much! Those shots are with my home made cable cam. I have a whole playlist dedicated to it on my channel if you are curious how I went about it. Thanks for watching.
Hi Scott, like your video’s! Verre attractive and keeps the audience watching ‘till the end! I’m riding a gravelbike and try to make movies from my Rides. Started with this hobby a few months ago. Still strugling with the focus in my shots and was wondering
Hello, thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos. I generally will preset my focus point at the location the action will happen and try to have as deep of a focal plane as possible. In some shots I will track the rider with manual focus but this is usually only when the rider is coming closer to the camera in a static shot. I hope that helps.
Cable cam at :31 is just absurd. Love this Scott! Feels like a film trailer almost

Same shot wowed me too! Initially thought drone then was like oh no, he's got the cable cam at pro level :D
@@camshand Yeah those cable shots often trick people into thinking I'm an amazing drone pilot (which I am not haha). Hoping to pick up a motorized cable cam this year and film some next-level stuff!
Beautiful! When the trail is appearing in front of the bike 👌👏

Wow, thank you!
Amazing work Scott! Are you still using your DIY cable cam setup or something else?
Cheers, thanks for watching Jon! I'm still on the DIY setup but hoping to invest in a Highsight Pro or something similar this year.
