I managed to talk my 67-year-old neighbor who served in the 103 into playing out the premium 103 in a test drive, back when it launched. He thought it was him doing something wrong, when I explained that's just how it is, he was disgusted. nice to see some"improvement" but as he disclosed to me, the 103 is unbelievably smooth and precise even on uneven terrain, and it being perfect for the terrain in defending Sweden, and Finland if the red boys did ever invade Scandinavia. He also said it was an absolute blast to drive around in, which he also stated it was heartbreaking to see it presented so poorly in a video game. Ill really miss that man, he played video games such as world of warcraft, wargame red dragon, and older RTS titles i enjoyed as well. As he still had that child-at-heart mentality while also being a wise old wizard. I was lucky enough to have him as a neighbor here in Colorado, and seeing stuff like this makes my heart melt thinking of all the games we played together, mostly world Of warcraft though. Wish i could have gotten him into WT regularly before he passed away. May he rest in piece.
Makes sense that it should be able to aim precisely even on uneven terrain, considering the kind of positions it would have occupied.
A toast to AJS’ 67-year old neighbor! May his rest remain undisturbed, and his memory and legacy cherished. :)

On even ground, the new and improved hull aiming works great. On slopes and uneven ground, it's still a little janky but definitely less than before.
It doesn't work great. It still shudders left to right when you try to fine tune your aim, even on a flat surface.
Still broken on console on all terrain, always jibbinging out and doing that micro jumpy reticle
Try it with VT1-2 damn hull aim with the 2. gun is more less pain xD
I wouldn't say it works great, but it is much better than it was. Contrary to what some people think, there will always be a bit of jank. Until WT unfucks the tank traction, and to a lesser degree improves server stability it will always be kinda meh.

With him aiming fixed for the most part the 103C is quickly becoming on of my favorite tanks in game.
Top down HE or HEAT but the dang fence.
@@supertruckertom only thing you really need to worry about from the front are tanks with guns like the L/44 with 400+ pen. At the same time the 103C could really go to 8.0 especially since it sees XM-1s, T-72A, the later Chieftains, and AMX-40s. Yes it has a 4 sec reload but it only has 337 max pen at 10M. Thats not a lot for an APFSDS round.

If you're tracked in a 103, and the trans/engine are good, the front sprocket would still drive the tracks until the sprockets weren't in contact with the tracks anymore, the tracks completely off the drive sprockets and wheels. So you probably would in real life have some range of traverse while waiting for a chance to repair them.

@@Misante. I love the Lorraine personally, but the hp-ton ratio is literally the only thing it has going for it. The gun’s good but you better not miss your shot or encounter more than 1 enemy. Oh and no explosive filler.
@@Misante. Yes, I have the vehicle and have played it. Speed can only do so much when you dont have a turrent and paper for armor. She is extremely quick thou and gun is great but a long reload (on my crew).

Mad Battle Tank.
Apparently the autoloader completes the cycle in two seconds, but an additional two were required to compensate for recoil and reset aim to where it was on firing.
In my experience it's actually really usable now. Admittedly, I have been trying to use it for ages so it might just be it being less traumatic.

Another thing for hull aiming vehicles is that they hate hills or any type of larger slopes really. But it's a lot better than what it was before where your crosshair refused to go where you were pointing at.

It works pretty well now unless the tank is on uneven terrain and then it's just terrible at distance.
The Premium Strv 103-0 is still my favorite to use and I haven't quite unlocked the regular ones yet.

I think the VT was made worse with the hull aiming fix. It will now just shake violently left and right on some slopes. Otherwise I still enjoy it.

Day 1 of suggesting STRV81 (RB52) + SK60 Combo. This combo is awesome. I get downtiers all the time while playing it and the strv81 seems hard to pen by tigers. Once you've done your runs with the STRV, Get into the SK60. No, don't take ATGMS, get yourself either the canons (which work like an A10 at those BR's) or M56D rockets which usually gets you 6-7 kills per run once you learn the patterns.

You know, I've noticed something with the strv 103's. So you know how you can grab like for example 16 rounds in a leopard 2a4 to have all of them in the turret so you dont get tapped from the front, well if you take a certain amount of rounds in a strv 103 all of the ammunition will still be in the back so it's easier for the enemy to kill you that way haha. I think warthunder should fix that one,

It's decent..now they need to give it a stabilizer, not that it works like a stabilizer but it will stop the wiggling while aiming

It amazes me to this day that World of Tanks nailed the hull aiming mechanic essentially on the first try almost a decade ago, yet Warthunder has been unable to fix it for years.
WT's game engine was built for planes, and had tanks added onto it.
WoT was from the start designed to be a tank game, which helps greatly. Being more arcade-y also helps as certain details can be ignored entirely.
