Phly...if you want to shoot at planes, don't aggressively push the enemy team so hard, they can't get the SP to spawn in one because of you.

Kinda a shame. I prefer using it over the kugelblitz. Much easier to aim for me and does more reliable damage on a hit. Then of course you have to trade out the effectiveness against ground units as it got like half the pen. Wish it would get back the HVAP shells it originally had.
Actually, a lot of people have them, i would say at least 10% of players, it's just that they don't use it much. I have all 4 vehicles that got removed and I don't touch them in like 3 months, except the maus and the tiger II 105mm, that i use a little bit more, so all that together make them be really rare.

Never understood how this thing has less pen than a Whirbel wind when it’s a larger caliber gun and the flakpanzers round travels faster.
Welcome into War Thunder. I had around 70mm of pen but after unification of penetrations of all shells using one formula I has pen like this in the game

It used to have AP a loooong time ago but it penned too much (over 100mm if I'm not mistaken) so they nerfed it

It used to have a HVAP belt that penned 64 or 65mm.

I played since this tank was named Coelian and its BR was higher than Kugelblitz
I remember when this thing use to have over 60mm of pen, I actually killed a T32 from the front with it. Not joking. I didn't know it at the time, but I had shot the little 40mm lip on top of the T32's turret which killed some of his turret crew so I just kept aiming there. Both the T32 player and I were confused as to how it was working and after that battle I went over to the T32 and checked that weak spot and lo and behold it was there. Now that the pen is 49mm, it can no longer use that weak spot, especially now because of the volumetric shells update. It can still kill light armored vehicles, but I just wish Gaijin didn't nerf its APHE rounds, yes the rounds are APHE, and used to be OP as hell. I hope someday it can pen over 60mm of armor again.
And we have swedish SAPHEI boys with same pen. At considerably lower BR, even if with usual 40mm rate of fire.

Whenever I spawn a fighter or bomber there is always three to six enemy aircraft waiting to ambush me. When I spawn AAA there is almost always not a single aircraft in the sky but always some spawn camping a**hole who somehow gets by the entire fricken team.

Yea I feel you. Though it feels nice to be in a falcon. Planes or none up, you still shred both tanks and planes. M247 is up there too. Can kill russian mbts frontally magically lol. The ZA-35(gepard on wheels) is also very fun. Flank thin armored tanks all day

I like how it has a gun shield on top for the commander/another crew member to shoot out of as if the 2 aa cannons pointing in the same direction weren’t enough against infantry already.
The AA guns arent meant for infantry. Hence the name, AA, which stands for anti air
@@Messerschmitt_BF_109G_10 I know that, but I’m saying the gun shield on top is unnecessary when you have 2 fast firing AA guns which can also deal with infantry if needed even if its main role is to engage aircraft.

It combines the plane-killing power of an ostwind while being pretty much immune to death by strafing. Any plane with machine guns can attack a wirbelwind, zsu, etc. but they can't attack this thing unless they have bombs and/or rockets. Germany has plenty of vehicles at 6.3-6.7 that can easily kill other tanks, this thing is very good at doing what SPAA are supposed to do: kill planes

Well.. The guns it has now could fire the same APCR as some aircraft with 142mm pen now, reported and denied years ago if I remember correctly.
Alternatively it could be updated to have its actual prototype guns with higher velocity, pushing the current APHE pen to 83mm.

I was flying a BF-110 yesterday in ground rb. A anti air was shooting at me and missed all his shots. But one, it hit my right wing and toor it right off. It was a M-10 gmc

I love the 341. It's especially fun in AB, and you can make those flyboys that like to keep flying out in aircraft get so salty.
The guy driving by as his teammate dies and not even looking or stopping. That's 90% of my War Thunder experience right there.
Fun fact, Gaijin said they removed Coelian because it never existed, only to replace it with Ostwind II which not only also never existed but has even less info than Coelian.
While Coelian is fairly well documented both in specs, drawings and photos so we can be certain how it would look and how it would perform, the only piece of information we have about Ostwind II is that it was supposed to have twin cannons, but other than that we have nothing. No specifications other than those of Ostwind, no info on how the guns would be placed in the turret, not even a drawing. From what I found, the only illustration of the cannons is the twin mount that was used on ships which was posted in the suggestion post on the forum and photos of a model kit. The twin mount shows them side by side, while the model kit above each other, so we can't even be sure the one in the game is how it would have looked.

The 341/Coelian was somewhat real, there was a mockup of the turret on a real panther chassis, the weapon system, basically a twin flak43 also existed. The project was eventually shelved, after it was found that a twin 37 was found too weak of an armamant for a panther chassis since the ostwind II alread was capable to fit twin 37s. Therefore a 55mm version was planned, I think it was called Gerät 58
I remember back in the day before they added that formula to calculate the pen of the rounds the german 3,7cm cannons had 64mm of pen with those aphe rounds, just magnificent

Phly my guy! Please use the proper anti air shells for the german 37mm! They have double the explosive mass and more velocity to make those air kills easier
Hey Phly, Uncle Tom rockets got a HUGE buff a couple days ago, their explosive mass was increased by 5x and now they're pretty much 500lb bombs that're stupidly easy to guide and can be launched from a huge distance. The mosquito mk VI at 3.7 carries them and they're absolutely op, they overpressure tigers like it's nobody's business. You should definitely check them out.
there used to be a reason to use the Coelian over the Kugel, and that was the Kugel had shite turret traverse...when that got buffed, if you factor-in the better penetration for the Kugel over the Coelian, it was a no-brain decision to take the Kugel out. Kugel is more versatile in that regard (plus they both were 6.7). Of course, if you are running a 6.3 lineup, by all means take the Coelian.

The 2 good things with this AA are the 60°/s turret rotation and the nice top armor. At this Br other AA are erradicated by MG and canons
At the beginning of the second match when Phly was dealing with the Q-3.7 an ASU-57 wit bushes was driving in the background. The ASU’s name was something like Aleks Games and he got a few kills I think

I was researching this when the Maus was removed (and this) went away with work, couldn't get a research point on the Maus and War Thunder made this thing way to expensive to play. It has been in the back of the hangar gathering dust.

All i ever wanted to have its acctual pen of 83mm, it used a different 37mm than the Sd.Kfz 6/2, the Flak 44 37mm had overall better characteristics over the early 37mm AA guns, hell even the Ostwinds had that amount of pen, just imagine, Ostwind I could go back to at least 4.7, the Ostwind II to 5.7 with an acctual AP belt to protect themselves

phly you should do a video on the turms/Blackshark pack, i was playing it today I think the agm on the blackshark (and probably other helis) are busted because they seems to track air units perfectly, I have been killing harriers, g/91's and even phantoms with them and unless they use flares i have yet to see a single plane actually dodge one of them

Attempt 2: have you tried rocket sights for planes, you can toggle the sights to be for both rockets and bombs in the cockpit, rocket sights are accurate for around 5-5.5km
Believe me newer players, Phly makes this thing look way cooler than it really is. It's a more armored, uptiered version of standard AA with lackluster ammo. It's very mediokrish in any role but not horrible and looks kinda cool.

Phly you should take out the Sherman Firefly, its been over 5 years and everyone loves some 17 pounder ass kicking! Certainly not the best Sherman but its always fun to play
btw phly if you didnt know yet arty strikes have overpressure damage, so they will literally kill any open top tank they land within 10m of
tbh, this is the best AA in 6.3 due to it's armour. it can't be killed by overpressure like Ostwind and Whirlbel. It's smoke-flash is still a problem. but it's alot better compared to the abysmal Ostwind 2.

37mm cannons, that were made automatic, clip fed, and still retaining 49mm total penetration AND armor-píercing rounds with explosive filler, all put from the Ostwind to a Panther hull, fully enclosed.
