Im pushing 50 and when i was a young teenage head in the early 90s we used to refer to all the new death metal albums as a "SICK RECORD". Im from central Massachusetts and that term has been around for over 30 years in my neck of the woods..so, to ease anyones anxiety..fuckin disturbed nor any of the new generation of kids DID NOT make that word up...its been around for a looong fuckin time WTF!!!👊

I used to listen to root of all evil in the late 90s, except it was on Saturday nights at that point. First two hours was classic metal and thrash, next two was black and death, final two was dark ambient and prog.

The term "sick" came out of the surfing culture of the 1960's and '70s, possibly earlier than that. At least a couple of decades before Deeds came along in the mid 90's. I guess every generation thinks their shit's the sickest.

It's still fairly early in 2024, but the best I've heard thus far is Crucifier's "Led Astray." BY THE FUCKING GODS is that a good fucking album. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone on here if you haven't heard it. I don't have a physical copy yet since it just came out less than a week ago, but you can hear it in its entirety on UA-cam. With that said, I feel the new Deceased album will likely be a contender. And indeed, certainly looking forward to the new Lurking Corpses.
Is it as good as Deicide's Insineratehymn?
I too bet Deceased CHILDEN OF THE GRAVE release is gonna be a top contender, but really, how could it not. This August I think is what King said.
