So I've hiked devil's backbone going up and baldy bowl going down to the parking lot. I should've taken devil's backbone going down. Almost got lost a couple of times taking baldy bowl with all those little trails especially when it was already getting dark

In my opinion it's a little more challenging, though going from the trailhead to the ski hut is pretty steady climbing once you pass it I think the elevation gain really begins to show itself.

I did the loop and descended on the hut trail. Total quad burner for sure!

Yes much easier looping when hiking clockwise down the backbone 👍

Amazing! I’ve only hiked Baldy via the Devil’s Backbone trail. Would you say this route is more challenging?

A little more challenging however I prefer it to the backbone as it’s more scenic.
