    Thanks for the review! This thing is priced exceptionally well for an Ultegra bike. Joe Breeze would be a great person for you to interview. Definitely one of the nicest figures in cycling.

    If Breezer is looking at these comments, GOOD FOR THEM! All of my current bikes are on the semi-custom or full-custom (EXPENSIVE) side, but since Russ reviewed this bike on the channel, I'm looking into Breezer as a new commuter bike. It seems like the only thing Breezer missed the mark on is that this bike is still high trail. If they had made it low-trail, I'd be picking up one tomorrow and recommending it to my friends!

    I picked up a doppler pro for half price when performance bike was closing. $550. Swapped out the slicks for some specialized pathfinderpro 650x47, wow loving it! Sucks that performace closed, they had a great thing for us consumers.

    love to see a review of the Marin 4 Corners, 650b model....this bike for its price looks very interesting...good review on the Breezer...keep them coming

      `Randy Cuffaro I don't know about 650 but I've been shopping. I ended up with breezer radar instead of Marin four corners. The four corners seemed a little more comfortable but cut a lot of corners. All mechanical disc brakes made it way less stoppable...does that make sense. Where as the radar I ended up with has full hydraulic.

    A local bike chain was “performance bicycle” was going out of business, i was just taking my biking dad, look around, was just giving him a ride, no plan to buy a bike, well before it was over, i got a Breezer Radar Pro, for 600 bux, got my wife a breeser city commute style bike, and my kid a new bike. So it was one big accident, im back in the saddle being a biking mad man! 😂

    Breezer Inversion fixes both drawbacks you mention (weight and chainstay length). It's 700c wheels but it's got clearance to easily slap on some 650b 42mm wheels and tires.

    • @ryanho7033
      @ryanho7033 6 років тому +2

      If you're more curious about the clearances on that bike, the rear safely clears 700x41mm (caliper measured) and the front can take a 700x43? possibly 45 (caliper measured). I currently have tubeless gravelking SKs (38mm factory measurement) on the stock wtb i23 frequencies and they measure a hair wider than 41mm

    Breezers are really everywhere now. I spent the last few months searching about them. And almost no builds or anything online.
    But I ended up with a radar Cafe. The flat bars just seemed comfortable for a bike to slow me down enough to ride comfortably at the same speed with my wife.
    Just a 700c fan, and it has good clearances. The bike was pretty hefty but I'm sheding a little weight at a time.
    I did notice the Doppler has through axles so that was a disappointing thing about the radar, but it was cheap enough that it wasn't a make or break thing.

    Luv ur reviews. I'm a recently new review "consumer" and am curious/irritated why so frequently the cassette teeth numbers are not mentioned. I know you did a vid on gear inches. I'm interested in replacing my CX bike with a 2019 Breezer Doppler Cafe+. Pardon me, but as far as my limited but growing bike knowledge is concerned, the teeth (front AND back) are an important piece of a bike's overall personality.

    Thank you for the great review. We can start to contrast this one with previous bike reviews such as the Surly Midnight Special or the Salsa Journeyman. I ordered a 2018 Brodie Romulus 650b - wonder how it measures up; I think I found something that falls between the Journeyman and the Warbird in terms of geometry, but maybe I am reading the numbers wrong. I haven't been able to find any reviews of Brodie Romulus/Remo/Tiber, any ideas as to why these bikes are off the map ? I guess it is a Canadian thing ...

    Why can’t these manufacturers utilize the 15mm T.A. Standard for forks. They were out in the market well before the 12mm standard. Also, as per your other videos, why 50/34 crankset on a lot of these gravel bikes. Also, most don’t have the 3 pack fork bosses. I’ll definitely have to pick up a Bombtrack Beyond-1. Checks off all those boxes, ie: 3 pack fork bosses, steel, low enough gearing, 15/12mm T.A. Wheels.

    maybe you can test a #kona #sutra or a #diamondback #haanjo or get wifey on a #haanjenn. also, do you test components? something like the #ritchey #venturemax handlebar or #fsa adventure bar on one of your own bikes would be useful.

    Thinking about the physical principles, I don't see why a longer chainstay would be slower to accelerate. I won't discount rider perception here, but I do wonder if a difference in acceleration would even be measurable or just "felt."

    • @PathLessPedaledTV
      @PathLessPedaledTV  6 років тому +1

      Longer chainstay usually equates to more flex in the rear and not as efficient transfer of power.

    • @tymncycle
      @tymncycle 5 років тому +1

      True in 2019, not in 2018. Breezer made some changes to the Team, like a steel fork and dynohub instead of the carbon fork and no dyno.

    • @benrichard2952
      @benrichard2952 5 років тому

      @@tymncycle I noticed that. I wonder why?

    • @tymncycle
      @tymncycle 5 років тому

      @@benrichard2952 my hunch, having done business with Breezer for many years - Joe B opted for a practical feature like a dynohub, in place of a carbon fork. Especially given the fact the bike comes standard with fenders, and the penchant Joe B has for calling bikes that lack features like that "naked bikes", I think it makes sense. But that's just an assumption on my part.

    Nice one! I recently bought the Vitus Substance V2 (Apex 1 model) and it seems very similar to the Breezer Team you have here. I must say I am enjoying the Vitus very much so. The Vitus also comes with 650b/WTB Horizon 47mm. Here is my question: What fenders are the Breezer using? I am having a real difficult time finding 650b fenders that will work properly with 47mm tires. The Breezer fender set looks like a match. Do you know the fender set Breezer is using?? Thanks! :)

    Russ thanks for the great review here! this is so close to the bike I am looking for! I just checked out the new salsa journeyman at my local shop (Belmar Bikes) and it's very similar except it doesn't come in steel, just aluminum. Do you know of anything like the doppler with shorter chainstays? or like the journeyman but with a steel frame?

    • @PathLessPedaledTV
      @PathLessPedaledTV  6 років тому

      Surly Midnight Special is the only bike I’ve tested personally so far that is steel, short chainstay and 650b. Am curious about the Gorilla Monsoon but haven’t heard back from All-City.

      They’ve been really unresponsive. Tag them or MSG them in IG and that might help. So frustrating.

  • @robappleby583
    @robappleby583 5 років тому

    Rear triangle size has nothing to do with acceleration. You're putting the same power through the chain no matter how long the chainstays. But - it does give a livelier ride because of the shorter wheelbase, so a bike with shorter chainstays will be more responsive in general and give the _impression_ of accelerating faster.
    TBH I'm pretty sceptical of all the claims about a few mm here and there making all the difference in handling. Theoretically it might be so - with completely hard tyres and on a perfectly smooth surface - but with all the variation in terrain and lower tyre pressures, your contact points are moving all over the place when you're riding in the real world and it takes more than a cm or so of wheelbase difference to make a substantial change to your ride. Just imo, of course, but I suspect a lot of this stuff is more down to pride of ownership and marketing than real life mechanical effects. Rider weight, condition, body proportions and how big a lunch you had before your ride all make much more difference.
    Nice bike though. I particularly like the mudguards.
