  • I love using my octave mandolin and my standard mandolin together! The two different tones blend well together to create a unique folksy sound.🎶

One of our few Monday highlights is Emma playing a song for us.

Very nice! Kinda wish I could play those kind of instruments, but the next best thing is watching the pros do it!

You played wonderful as always! Thank you so much! Even though I can't comment on all of them, I watch all of your videos and like them a lot! You are very successful in all different styles of music, excellent performances! I also very like the piece Spain you played in one of your last videos. I had listened several times this piece to Joaquin Rodrigo's composition inspired by the adagio section of Concierto de Aranjuez in live concerts from Chick Corea. I really like this work. It is clear that you can perform very well on jazz and gypsy style, because you have a very good technique. But as a result, I think you perform all the music you play very well and i like them all.
Apart from that, your lessons are also great, definitely very useful for mandolin lovers like me! I am curious, would it be possible for you to give some technical information (for example, about string gauges and string actions) in next tutorial videos that will make it easier to play the mandolin? I've been playing the mandolin at an amateur level for several years, during which time I bought several mandolins. Each time I tried to buy a more playable instrument. I now have a repaired 1927 Embergher student B model mandolin. This instrument is really good quality, but still I sometimes hurt my left index finger while playing it. Do you have any advice against hurting fingers while playing the mandolin?
    Thank you so much again.
    Best,
    Cenk

Thank you so much! This means a lot to me. I’m so glad you are finding my tutorial videos helpful. Yes, maybe I can do a video about technical information like that!

    Very nice! :)
I just bought an octave mandolin myself (last week) and was wondering - is there a good website to find tabs for songs like this? I'm used to play the guitar and I'm finding that there are not much material for octave mandolins compared to guitar (or I'm probably not looking in the correct places)

That’s awesome! I hope you enjoy your octave! Unfortunately there is not a whole lot of material for the octave mandolin; however, if you look up tabs for the standard mandolin, you can use those on the octave! Since the two instruments are tuned the same, anything that can be played on the mandolin can also be played on the octave.

      Thanks!
Yeah, I thought that was gonna be the case :P .
I'll go through some standard mandolin material and maybe try to transpose some guitar stuff as well once I get a bit more used to it :)
