I used the stock dash and bcm but I used the Ecm and tcm from the ss. I turned off the cats first which made it much more easier to start up
Are you telling me I didn’t have to replace the dash harnesses or the BCM? The time I would have saved!
@@connormckenzie5648 that’s correct we used the stock bcm to control the dash, windows, and all the other chassis stuff. Lol combining the foreign modules from the ss car was the real headache for us.
Sounds painful.
@@connormckenzie5648 definitely but turning off the VATS system before starting the swap would have been ideal because it wouldn’t have shut off the fuel system when it seen the different vin numbers from the ecu , ecm, and tcm
@@Carcainiac Do you have info on the most efficient way of doing the wiring setup? I'm looking to do this as I picked up a v6 for the beautiful price of free but motor has a knock. Going to start pulling there motor but looks like I should grab hp tuners and disable everything mentioned first is that correct?
The long awaited update
Did you like it?
@@connormckenzie5648I really enjoy the update on your Camaro’s process 👍
Keep them coming u got some fans bro
This is my number 1 favorite comment!
I would love to do this someday, I just bought a 2010 v6 with 9k miles on it. Great deal, I just wish it was a v8
9K miles is WILD!!! I loved my 2011 v6, and one day when the time is right maybe you'll have the chance to rip your car apart too.
Not convinced with that startup bro, sounds like edited in audio ✌️
I have no idea how to edit audio lol
congrats!!!!!!
Yoo make a video step by step what to do engine trans rear end ecu and what else
Alright
@@connormckenzie5648 appreciate it
It may be easier for me to make a shitty video to just send to you. Since I used the V6 diff I had to use a v8 manual driveshaft connecting to the trans and than it turns into a v6 automatic driveshaft to connect to the rear. The driveshaft comes in 2 pieces and they just slide into each other.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 been waiting for this
What should I post next?
Looking to do this in my gen 2 CTS. About to watch your other videos I hope you have lots of info😂
If you have any questions HMU!
We're you running bootcamp or something to run hptuners on your mac?
Great!
Thank you!
Hey man I’m currently putting an lq4 in a 2010 v6 Camaro. I’m just wondering why you changed the interior harness… wondering if I should do the same. Thanks !
I changed the harness so I would be able to connect the clutch pedal position sensor to the computers. If I didn’t go from automatic to manual I don’t think I would have changed it.
Love the content, planning on doing an L99 and transmission swap in a few months & was wondering if you had to change any external rear end
I did not change the rear end but I did have to use the back side of the v6 drive shaft with the front of the v8 manual drive shaft.
It would be wise to change the dif out to an ss because the v6 dif isn't made for the power of the v8 and could have issues.
I know your right, I have launched the car a number of times and every time I am waiting to either grenade my diff or the axles.
i’ve thought about the doing the with mine if one day something bad happens, i just love the 5th gen 10-13 look, i have an RS ice metallic with the rally strips and i just fcking love how it looks. i would love a v8 but don’t want to replace the baby i have rn :(
the 5th gen 10-13 is my favorite Camaro too. I was so heart broken when my engine died and I was very close to getting a VW Jetta. So happy I decided to swap it. Was a very scary and long process tho.
You would think by the 5th generation of the Camaro the GM "brain trust " would make an access hole for the fuel pump.
The engineers and the mechanics at GM don't even know each other exist. So many funny stupid decisions were made when they built that car.
No wonder GM is in such dire straights .
The fact they are one of the largest auto manufactures is concerning. Maybe they should slow down on the ads and put that money towards development of their new vehicles.
I'm doing the same to my 2011 RS but it's an auto. You think it should be easier because of that fact or will it be just as complicated?
It will be a lot easier because you don't have to put in a clutch pedal, replace the dash harness or change the drivershaft.
Did you have to pay out of pocket for the new engine or did your insurance cover the bill? Mine just blew and wanted to see my options
I paid out of pocket. Does insurance cover that? Im going to have to check, that would save me a lot of money!
Hey Conner I really really really need help deleting vats on my 2011 Camaro. I completed a LLt to LFX swap . 2011 v6 to 2012 inside of a 2011. And I cannot for the life of me remove the immobilizer and VATS. I would appreciate any guidance. Been watching your swap for about 4 months now. You gave me a lot of confidence to complete that swap
I just ordered my HP tuners but would I have to switch out all of the modules or can I just delete vats
You should be able to keep all of your modules if you delete the VATs. Just make sure to delete VATs patch 1 and 2 and to write entire.
@@connormckenzie5648 I tried that and it didn’t work I also had one more option in the portion where it says “write entire”. The starter clicks a few times (stuck in place) and the car doesn’t turn over. Anti theft light is still on. Is this due to the VATS module? And if so where exactly is it. And how much do you have to take apart to get to it? I have no clue what’s going on. didn’t switch any of the modules beside ECM.
@@connormckenzie5648also do you think I need to disable anything else by chance since I have different variables?
Did you unlock the ECU and BCM in HP Tuners. If not then the BCM antitheft is still active. Keep me updated if it works, you can DM on insta @Connor.Michael.McKenzie
Keep up the content man we love to see it 💪🤙
Thanks! Will do!
The background music is too loud and its too high pitched
Noted, I will do better!
Shut up cuz, this video is fine😒
I would put "v6 power" on the back window, stick the stock exhaust on with electric cuttouts, ultimate trolling.
I was thinking about buying a V6 badge on amazon and slapping that on the back. I like the idea of the cutouts tho!!!
@@connormckenzie5648 Hell yeah, I've been waiting for a Honda civic to come in where I work, I have an s10 frame and a 6.0 all i need is the civic, I'm going to rattle can primer the body, slap stickers all over it, fake fart can, cheap tiny stick on hood scoop on the hood and the roof, giant Amazon wing, underneath I'll have an xpipe exhaust with electric cutouts, at the top of the stock exhaust I'll slap the fart can on, I'm still figuring out how much my wife will let me spend on engine mods, hardest part is getting everything to fit but I think it'll be a awesome sleeper.
This sounds f*cking amazing!!! Please keep me posted on you progress throughout the project!
@@connormckenzie5648 Will do, I can't wait to jump on that project.
@@connormckenzie5648 Still no civic though. 😔
Did it bolt right in or did you have to get an adapter kit
The engine and trans install was super smooth but I did have to get a custom hydronic steering pump because I he engine I used came from a 2013
@@connormckenzie5648 I'm gonna either supercharge or ls swap my 2018
LS swapping is just so much fun, boosting is also fun. Its a win win situation you have going on!
Would this be harder to do on a automatic?
Automatic is the easiest because you dont have to add in a clutch. You can also use the stock BCM which makes life 10 times easier.
@connormckenzie5648 that's awesome so all I would need is motor, motor mounts , Trans, rear end and drive shaft ?
You’re going to need a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. Finding a donor car with all working electronics will be the easiest way. The antitheft system is a low key bitch.
Hey conner i have a auto v6 just blew the motor so im looking to do the v8 manual swap any tips?
Buying a donar Camaro will save you so much money and time
@@connormckenzie5648 will a manual trans fit right in?
@@connormckenzie5648 oh another thing did the engine line up with the mounts or will I need to redo the engine mounts?
@@KarmaBeABeachit should line up with the same mounts since the v6 and the v8s are similar
Yes, if your keeping the V6 rear diff make sure to buy an SS manual driveshaft and connect the front of the v8 manual driveshaft to the rear of the v6 driveshaft and everything will fit. I got very lucky on the BTW!
Where did you get your new engine
I got it off of eBay. Drove 2 hours to pick it up.
