@@BenMarriott Dude every single video you made, taught me more stuff than any online course out there, thank you so much. Also your art style is awesome
Came for the Looping Tunnel, emerged with knowledge about both the tunnel and super useful keyboard shortcuts that I didn't know existed but was struggling and wasting SO much time without them. A time/life saver.
Hi Ben, if the repeater is inside the rectangle group and above the stroke parameter, the stroke width will be even when you change the offset. hope it helps and thank you so much for all the tutorials!
I actually like how the stroke gets thicker as the lines grow bigger with the repeater. It helps sell the perspective, but to make it loop, I would just keyframe the stroke weight on the individual squares in the beginning before making all the copies.
Honestly the most game changing tip here for me was using curves over the noise effect to keep the blacks clean and better looking for youtube compression :O
men your tuts are amazing. Just to collaborate with you i would recommend offsetting the repeater scale setting instead of making that amount of shapes layers, cheers!
Thanks so much man! I try that towards the end of the video, but the stroke also scales so it's much more difficult to get a loop or a consistent line-weight. It works wonders if that's not an issue in your scene though :D
Thanks so much! Ahh, fire can be really tricky. I mostly really stylize my fire so I don't have to try very hard, haha. I'll definitely keep it in mind :D Thanks so much for the suggestion
Hey dude, I'm enjoying your tutorials so far. I have a question, if you don't mind: What shortcut did you used at the 7:18 mark , when renaming the layer, after you pressed ENTER there was something else? It seems there was SHIFT SPACE or something? thank you.
for some reason im unable to do the mask at 7:35. I followed along and tried it so many times to get it right but it just wont happen. What it does is when I click at the center I cant click elsewhere and when I try to click, it shows a "+" sign alongside the pentool icon but no anchor point seems to come up when I click at that point. Using after effects cc v17.0.6 build 35. Thank you in advance and nice tutorial.
Hi Ben, thank you for your amazing tutorial, if you don't mind, how do you keep the width of the squares when you scale them? I remember in another video you mention such problem in 'parent' situation, I'm wondering what's the expression for the regular situation. Thank you!
When I add the repeaters to the grid line and rotate, them they create a weird double line with a small gap in between. and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I tried dissecting the project files, but to no avail. Any help with this would be much appreciated, love your vids.
I did the same, it was because the line wasnt centered properly, I redid it to make sure it was perfectly in line with the corners of the squares, then also make sure you're adding the repeater to "shape1" and it should work.
Hi Ben ! Many Thanks for your awesome work !!! You've shared a download link for the brushes that you're using in different tutorials. But I was not able to find it. I've checked all the description boxes of your past tutorials. Can You share it again ?? Kind regards from France !
unable to make the mask as you are doing. Several people have said the same thing. Can you help. The mask that I did make is the opposite of yours. 3 segments are visible, not only one
great tutorial as always! Question: I have city scape vector graphic, how do make is animate seamlessly so that when the 10 second animation ends and loops to get rid of the jump in scene when it starts again? Simple but I just can't figure it out -many thanks
Thanks. How do you keep the strokes the same width? I know in Illustrator there is a way to preserve in preferences...am I missing that somewhere in AE?
Wow, I figured it out. All you have to do is click on the \ in the columns and it corrects it. Every video/article I found had a crazy script that was being added for something so easy.
Hello! Thanks a lot for this tutorial! I’m trying to repeat this tutorial after you and I have a question: when I cut off the workspace with the B and N keys, my playback in this area does not go in cycles, but continues along the length of the whole composition. Maybe something is wrong with my settings? What can be wrong?
My favourite day of the week video day
Thanks so much! That's so awesome to hear. It's the biggest motivation to make sure I get a decent video out each week :)

Thanks so much, I don't think I pressed anything else, the shift and space I think we're just to name the layer. Enter is all you need

It's same problem to me. Did you find a solve for this problem?
I am using CC19
Same here, i'm thinking how the heck is the other layer over the white one at the tutorial @benmarriot help plssss
I just found out what happened, you have to fill the next shape in black because the background is with nothing on it
13:11 what if you tried to take the Stroke layer out of the Rectangle layer?
edit: Just tested this and the stroke still gets bigger
Thanks for testing :D I appreciate you going into the trenches for this one
nice
Thank you!
Hi Ben, How do you change the label color in 4:29? Thank you.
Hiya, If you click on the coloured box it gives you a drop down menu :)
why did you did not used the repeater effect for the squares as well?
Hi Ben, thank you for your amazing tutorial, if you don't mind, how do you keep the width of the squares when you scale them? I remember in another video you mention such problem in 'parent' situation, I'm wondering what's the expression for the regular situation. Thank you!

Hi there! :) There is a loop setting that you might have unchecked. Does this fix it? i1.creativecow.net/u/3406/resetbutton.jpg

do you know how to put the no fill on after effects 2020?
Click on the word "Fill" in the toolbar. It'll bring up Fill Options instead of a Color Picker, where you can hit No Fill.
Blinking is so mainstream...
