Gotta love this video of Kurt Browning doing singing in the rain! It's just amazing. This is probably my favorite figure skating routines of alltime.
Not nearly enough credit for this piece of art! its nearly2022 and this program is still incredible and awe inducing! He was/is a true artist and magnificent skater!!!

Gene Kelly's performance has over six million hits, but to me this performance is worthy of just as many. Kurt did an amazing job, and I clearly remember seeing this original performance on TV back in the 90's.....I'll never forget it!!!!
I agree 110%. I've loved this since seeing it...also in the 90s. Does anyone know if Gene got to see this? It is the greatest tribute to his masterful piece that could ever be done. Thank you Kurt Browning.

I remember seeing the movie at the drive-in when it was first released. I skated on...wheels at the time and vowed someday I would skate on ice ~!!! I'm 80.
This is an amazing tribute from an phenomenal skater to a a phenomenal actor/dancer. Two of my favorites.

What an amazing tribute to a beloved singer/actor/dancer/director and all around amazingly good guy in Hollywood !! I know that Kelly danced in roller skates, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he could ice skate too, but I'm sure he couldn't do the specific triples that Kurt did for competitions. This was a wonderful adaptation to the original and having seen the movie as many times as I have, I give Kurt a perfect 10 for his excellent rendition !
Couldn't agree more. I, too, believe this is the most perfect skate-dancing routine of all time. Every bit as engaging as the original.
This is the best theatrical ice skating performance ever! Whoever choreographed and directed it should get a prize. Kurt Browning did a fantastic job, I feared through the routine that he would smash against a lamp-post or crash through a plate glass window.
I remember seeing this back then and thought it was so creative and an impressive piece of work. His chirograhy was stunning!! Thanks Kurt!!

There's absolutely no other skater like Kurt Browning! When he finally decides to retire, that's going to be such a sad day for me. I wish there were still skaters like this today.

Sorry. None of the current skaters could ever hope to equal Kurt. It's not just about the jumps...it's what occurs in between them that makes a Skating star and legend.
Perfection ! Will never forget seeing this performance by Kurt for the first time. My Mother and I also watched Gene Kelly in Singing In Rain every time it was on T.V. back in the day. She knew all the steps to this dance. Thank you Kurt for this great performance. P.S. I still watch the film sometimes but it isn't the same without her now.
I actually danced this dance in the pouring rain on a Vancouver street on my way home from work, complete with the black umbrella!

Kurt was one of those rare athletes who could do anything and was also a great person to be around and be supportive to all skaters. He took chances on every number, he never skated them the same way each time he skated. We need more innovative skaters today.

Even though he's a Canadian, I was always rooting for Kurt - one of my absolute favs and a master of skating - he could do it all - funny, whimsical, dramatic - the whole package. Was always sorry the Olympics was his nemesis - he's a Gold medal winner in my book!
We need more skaters like Kurt on the ice today. Love him N his style on the ice.
This is by far the BEST ice skating performance I've ever seen. I'm 71 years old and have watched figure skating all of my life. I've even done a bit of it and it's HARD! I remember when this was first aired. It was done in one take because the studio rain was rapidly softening and melting the ice.....This performance is perfection.

Perfect tribute. You can see the love in all the careful attention. Excellent adaptation from the original to the ice, even to using the exuberant gestures from Kelly's version. I'm not a fan of jumps but Kurt's were exactly right and brilliantly placed in this performance.

Gene Kelly's performance in Singing In The Rain is one of the best movie scenes of all time. Kurt's ice rendition is by far the best skating performance I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. Perfection, both performances!

I loved Gene Kelly my whole life. When I first saw Kurt Browning it was clear that he was a talented dancer as well as a dynamic skater. He could move his body like no other skater and he got even better over time. This is a dynamite version on ice, choreographed by Sandra Bezic of Kurt Browning skating to Gene Kelly's famous, Singing in the Rain and has been a favorite for many years. I come back and watch it at least once or twice every year. Kurt Browning has been the my favorite skater since he first came on the skating scene in the 80's. On March 25, 1988 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, he landed the first quadruple jump ever in competition. This accomplishment is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Browning is also known for his footwork.
I have always loved Kurt Browning, such a beautiful and talented skater. It is such a joy to be able to enjoy his performances all over again on You Tube. Thank you for allowing me to view this video again.

Kurt Browning was one of my faves as was this musical and Gene Kelly but I discovered this much later than I should have. I love how smooth and natural he moves, you forget he’s on ice (until he effortlessly flies into one of those great jumps!). Thanks for the upload!!

Sublime performance! Interesting to hear that Kurt has been compared to Gene Kelly. Gene Kelly appeared in a 1968 Peggy Fleming TV special. He displayed lovely smooth strokes forwards and backwards including backwards crossovers.
This made me smile! One of my favorite Gene Kelly routines and now I have this!! Fabulous! A real work of art.

Kurt Browning was so much fun to watch he made that performance seam so easy . For me he was the most artistic dancer. And always relax and happy .I remember the movie well and for sure he does exactly the same movies on skates .

My dear Aunt loved this movie and she took me with her to see it. She would have also loved this ice skating version. Great skater, but he has retired now. 2023
