This video helped a lot, but just some suggestions: including the length/thickness of the scarf, the type/thickness of coat and how to wear the scarf with the coat for the specific knot (i.e. tuck it in, leave it out), the colors/styles of scarf that would look best for the knot, and the type of temperature/type of weather to use the knot.
@LdPhil in Paris they would wear it with a slip knot and wear the tail of the scarf outside the coat. In the UK and America most men would wear the same knot or alternatively a 'simple knot' (see the video) but usually underneath the coat rather than outside it. The team @therulesofstyle prefer the Parisien way :D
damn I had no idea . thanks for the video, definitely trying to be a little more fashionable then my typical black band shirt and blue or black jeans lol.
@Catalyst8D - Glad you enjoyed the video! We've always found the slip knot to be the best, its simple to tie and quick to put on. The single wrap and tie goes great with a casual blazer when worn with jeans or chino's
This has been mentioned a great deal. Essentially it's for the benefit of the video, during filming the jacket caused a distraction, so we fastened it. Usually we would advise all guys the only fasten the top button and leave the bottom one open - it's one of those catch 22 decisions.
you call the channel "the rules of style" yet, you button both of you blazers buttons, You should always leave the bottom button undone. Don't mean to be a troll, but that always bugs me.
It works best with woolen scarves as apposed to silk evening scarves. The scarf should be long enough to wrap around your neck twice, so it really depends on the width of your neck.
@jeremyjohnson - The suit, believe it or not was loaned from Burton! The best place to get a suit in the exact colour you want is from 'a suit that fits'. Our stylists work with private clients and we recommend 'a suit that fits' because of their wide range of affordable suit fabrics, hope this helps :D
@mishukzoo @fourwallsofsound - Cracking observations there chaps!!! We've laced our video's with really obvious things that go against the advice we give out - No prizes for spotting unfortunately but take 100 man points each, 1000 man points and you're officially a style god
@Authorf418 - You should try out the tie around - the one that looks like a snood, - This would look good worn with a casual blazer, drop crotch chinos and military boots
Thanks for the video I just got my scarf as a gift from a coworker, I am trying to look good for the ladies. Some guys just don't give a sH!%#. Great job

i am really confused, because tomorrow I'll go to a funeral and i want to wear s scarf, but i don't know what style should i tie it? what's your advice?
Hi, can you tell me what is a good length for a scarf 60 inch or 74 inch. I tried the 60 inch It does seem to be a little short even though I am only 5 foot 8 inches.
@oriondavies - It's a shame you didn't like our free HD instructional video. If you'd have paid for our content we'd be happy to give you a refund. I gotta admit... I look quite bad ass in a scarf I never thought I'd be wearing one of these. btw... if the scarf is over 15$ I'm not buying it... I saw $300 scarves online... curtains don't even cost that much. dont get suckered out of your money. you could buy an ipod with that amount or pay off college loan debt.
Almost 200,000 others didn't though. When we hate something we tend to ignore it or look at something else. You should subscribe to us, perhaps there's something that we will upload, for free, in HD, without any obligations, to our channel.
There's been alot said about that - explained really early on in other comments; the jacket kept opening when we made the video so we did both buttons up.
@DivingEag1e - Thanks for the suggestions - perhaps we could create a playlist for each of the suggestions you made. Alternatively, hit subscribe - we're working on brand new content that is being released shortly, best wishes - The Rules of Style team
Thanks for showing how the drape works. I was absolutely baffled.
Some great ways to wear a scarf. You have a natural elegance!
I came thinking I knew them all. The False Knot proved me wrong and became my new favorite!
Thanks for your comments! Your really helping our ratings on UA-cam!
this is quite possibly the classiest response ever. bravo.
ahhhhh finally know how to tie the slip knot thank you very much, already knew all the otherones just was confused on how to do that one.....
I have been doing most of these already, but learning the false knot will definetly step my game up, Thank you!
That drape one was really tough!!
Dayumm, that drape style is hard.
Thanks very much for this. I wanted to break in my longer wool scarf and now I have a few ways to wear it :3
Really Glad this has helped you!
It works with most woolen scarves but not silk ones. As long as you can wrap the scarf around your neck twice then it will work just fine :D
Thats why we made the video, too many guys like you were struggling with it
This video helped me out a lot. Thanks!
@LdPhil in Paris they would wear it with a slip knot and wear the tail of the scarf outside the coat. nice, a Slip Knot, btw I recommend the Double Wrap Around
damn I had no idea . thanks for the video, definitely trying to be a little more fashionable then my typical black band shirt and blue or black jeans lol.
Great clip now I know for future reference, will definitely try these out.
Glad to have helped!
Thanks for the video, this really helps a lot!
Slip Knot is the Best!
YOUR SWAG IS RIDICULOUS
Oh my god. The drape is so hard!!!
Slip knot is the most popular and sexiest imo
@Catalyst8D - Glad you enjoyed the video! We've always found the slip knot to be the best, its simple to tie and quick to put on. The single wrap and tie goes great with a casual blazer when worn with jeans or chino's
VERY informative. Thank you so much.

Amazing tutorial.
i love simple knot!!!
you call the channel "the rules of style" yet, you button both of you blazers buttons, You should always leave the bottom button undone. Don't mean to be a troll, but that always bugs me.
Alright, thank you soo much!!
We didn't write the article on wikipedia. We wrote it on our website.
Anyone else like the cute bear:)
Just the one iwa searching for

Dig it. But now confused about the sometimes-always-never rule for jackets.
Great vid and awesome scarf. Where did you get it?
@Authorf418 - You should try out the tie around - the one that looks like a snood, - This would look good worn with a casual blazer, drop crotch chinos and military boots
Great music!
Thanks for the video I just got my scarf as a gift from a coworker, I am trying to look good for the ladies. Some guys just don't give a sH!%#. Great job

And you watched it. Sorry that our free, easy to watch HD content hasn't helped you today. maybe subscribe to our channel where you might find more useful information when we post new videos. The Rules of Style Team.
i really like that scarf you are wearing. you mind telling me where you got it from?
Nah I'll more than likely wear it with a peacoat. It'll give a sense of a fashionable type guy, but the jacket he has on is fine too.
@XxGenetsuxX Not a problem at all - The scarf is from H&M - £15, absolute bargain.
@jsschill05 The model in the video is Daniel Johnson - he's a personal stylist in London, believe it or not, he's English!
Are you a model or just fashionable and extremely attractive? (From the 2 seconds I've seen your face)
You really have missed the point of a scarf - see wikipedia for more information
Absolutely no Dislikes
@AssaultKirby - We'd recommend the Slip knot :D
Hm I dont know 'cause what I tryed to find was a tutorial with more exotic ways than for example drape..
hey folks...can you tell me please, which one style is best to wear with a long black coat in winter? Oo
Some are from H&M and others from vintage shops
You probably wrote the article on Wikipedia!
Nice one
How long should the scarf be for a wrap around??
@SmellyYomon

I gotta admit... I look quite bad ass in a scarf
I never thought I'd be wearing one of these.
btw... if the scarf is over 15$ I'm not buying it... I saw $300 scarves online... curtains don't even cost that much.

How many inches long is this scarf?
You can't run a men's style channel and button both buttons on your jacket that's the first cardinal sin in fashion
There's been alot said about that - explained really early on in other comments; the jacket kept opening when we made the video so we did both buttons up.
@ldphill probably a double wrap around or tgrow over
where did you get your scarves?
@DivingEag1e - Thanks for the suggestions - perhaps we could create a playlist for each of the suggestions you made. Alternatively, hit subscribe - we're working on brand new content that is being released shortly, best wishes - The Rules of Style team
