Scarlatti is a unique voice from the rich tapestry of the Baroque period who has an incredible musical personality owing absolutely nothing to an alien aesthetic from a different century emanating from a different part of Europe.

ASSOLUTAMENTE SPLENDIDO
La reminiscencia veneciana de Scarlatti la revela el colorido de esas células melódicas. Cual esquirlas de cristal reflejan cuanta luz reciben del entorno, epítomes de formas y colores. En cuanto al rastro napolitano, pervive en la aparente liviandad de sus sonatas. Semejantes a piezas de un todo que se hubiera disgregado y el compositor de modo titánico intentara rehacer. Nada extraño que el poeta Gabriele D’Annunzio les compare a perlas sueltas de un collar que al desgranarse ruedan “tarantelizadas” por las gradas donde cae el agua en frágiles cascadas: « Las perlas se multiplican, al modo de fina granizada, ruedan por todo lado, brillan, resuenan, rebotan, se mezclan al ribazo, tanto parecen preciosas burbujas de agua, tanto gotas de rebosante belleza» . Encierran matrias irrenunciables: Venecia, Nápoles, Sevilla… ciudades que pulsaron su vida y su música pero que no le trabaron impidiéndole abrirse al mundo de su tiempo. En efecto, las sonatas de Scarlatti tuvieron una repercusión efectiva en su época. Como apunta Bonnaure: « Muy difundidas en toda Europa, influenciaron a muchos compositores españoles, especialmente al Padre Soler, que trabajó bajo la dirección de Scarlatti durante los años 1750, pero también a toda una generación de compositores italianos, como Durante y Galuppi entre los más conocidos ».

JR always uses the finest possible harpsichords. Other players all have seem to have inferior instruments or is he just the best player.
The instruments are fantastic but under Maestro Rondeau's delicately expressive fingers they become transcendent. Flawless technique. I can think of none better right now.

Non, aucun rapport. Bach et Scarlatti ont en commun leur année de naissance et le contrepoint, c'est tout. Scarlatti s'est permis des audaces et des innovations que jamais Bach ne se serait permises. Scarlatti, au fil des écoutes, se démarque clairement de Bach et constitue en soi un génie original et authentique. On peut facilement en juger par l'audition de sa sonate K27.
Scarlatti était bien plus moderne et audacieux que Bach.
