I don't get Dickerson and Hauk, both have such contempt for Cronauer, don't like his humor or the music he plays, but he made the station a hit, and the troops enjoy listening to him, What Dickerson and Hauk fail to consider that it's for the men in the field, why did they lose sight of that?
They consider themselves soldiers first. Yes they are in the Army and every soldier is trained to kill first in boot camp before being given their assignment. What they didn't consider is that some jobs in the Army requires that you don't act like a professional soldier first. You do the job you're given the best way you can and IF the situation calls for it, you act like a professional soldier. I know that sounds counter intuitive, but another good example is a therapist. Yes they are a trained soldier, but doing the job of a therapist does not require a by the book professional ass kicker, but someone who is receptive, a good listener, calm, and welcoming. Same thing here. If their job was to share the news and also bring morale up, then they should have put their professional soldiering in the back seat and make an entertaining radio program first.

@@KaPowProduction He wasn't in the scene, but I like the sentiment.
The butter bar Lt and the Sgt Maj are the definition of morale killers
That’s why they are not in the field.

Unfortunately I knew folks like them in the service: they're naturally miserable, so everyone else must be also
"I wouldn't buy an apple from the son of a bitch and I consider him a good, close, personal friend." Is burned into my brain
He nailed it on all politicians “ I wouldn’t buy an apple that !?&$@
Houk: Kronauer has a irreverent tendency.
Me: We’ll, you would know.
He was right about Nixon for sure!
