I feel like most people that are wanting to bag a Tilt aren't talking about using them off the tee. The best argument I have heard for a tilt is for scrambling in the woods. It should allow you to hit some unique lines you couldn't normally hit. I don't think anyone is throwing it in an open field lol
I bag it as a utility disc, only time i use it off the tee is if its 250 or less. There's a couple holes I used to throw a grenade on and this works great for them.
IMO you're just thinking about it in the wrong way. It's strictly a utility disc. I have a NEO Essence specifically in my bag for backhand rollers. I don't use it every round at every course, but it's there when I need that specific shot. Same with a Tilt. I use it specifically for grenade style shots. Throwing upside-down DESTROYS my thumb, and I don't have the grip strength to throw how KJ does it. I also can't throw thumbers or tamahawks due to a previous injury. Therefore, I use the Tilt so I can throw it on a grenade line but power grip it like a normal disc. I may pull it out once a month, but I'm very thankful to have a disc that gives me that particular shot when I have no other option.
On your point about the tilt and needing to use it at least a few times a round - how many discs do y’all carry in your bag? I probably have 20, and most round I probably use 7/8 out of them. We like more discs! Plus, it’s a disc (like the berg?) that does something different than any other disc. Will it be a staple in my bag, no, but it’s a utility disc.
I have a video idea for you guys. You wait for three random people to show up to the course and you each get to pick one of the random's to mentor for a round. So you have to tell them what shot to throw and what disc to throw. Also they have to throw from your bag. Loser buys Red Lobster Biscuits
I actually bag a Tilt and use it at least once a round. It's one of my main scramble discs for tight woods. Coming from a baseball background I love throwing overhand shots and this is pretty sweet for that. But I think that's about all you could use it legitimately for.
Want you to know that I am new to disc golf. Watched your Basics videos and I can birdie holes here at my home course in Buena Vista Colorado. I am only using midrange disc for now but it’s working amazing. Thank you
13:00 here is the thing... false information. You are too fresh with the disc to form this kind of opinions. For example, that throw where you AIM hyzer and it drops down as a grenade - it's priceless. Also, try approaches with it for some death greens. Once again, unique action and saved strokes. If a disc saves me strokes during a round, I need it. I didn't realize I need tilt before I got one. Now I'm loving it (I have the og mystery box 1st run).
I have one of these is base plastic and in the meta plastic. While I will admit that I first got one just because of the hype, I quickly came to love this disc. While most of my shots with it are just to throw it, it has worked for me very well as a scramble disc when you need to throw a weird line. I use it in every way that you did in the video (FH, BH, and upside down). It definitely needs a different thought process when throwing than that of a normal shot.
I have it in my bag for two shots! 1. The same exact reason to throw a granade, but you just put hyzer on it instead. Awesome for islands! 2. If I’m in the bushes and have no gap infront of me, but I have gaps over me. In those situations its a good scrambel disc! Honorable mention: for fun but stupid skipshots ones in a while Dont need these shots in every round but when I do I’m glad I have the tilt, gave me a birdie yesterday! Thanks for an entertaining video🙏🏼
The way you get a good distance out of Tilt is by throwing it forehand but upside down, i.e. a side thumber. However, the throw that's pretty unique to Tilt is throwing a thumber high with the disc more or less near vertical. It glides really nicely to left. I use the throw quite often in a round.
I mean, if yall dont wanna keep one of those tilts, ill buy one off ya lol. I have an OG one in my bag simply for the giggles and id love to see how the meta compares to it.
The tilt is the only disc that I know of, that turns right when trowing a forhand roller. I think that feature alone is worth having it in your bag. Otherwise I would have to throw a forhand thumber roller, or a cut roller, which for me, are both more difficult to do.
I took my tilt out this morning for the first time. The use of this disc is par saves. If you are in the woods and need to get out, this thing will clear everything vertical then flip down to a glide shot to get you further up the fairway. Then at the end it will just drop so you don't have to stress so much about overthrowing.
As a owner of a stego and stiletto with a tilt on the way I think that the stability is fun to mess with in casual rounds but I have only used the stiletto in competition since it actually flies
A friend of mine (who has a fetish for overstable discs;) has them all. Tilt, stego, flick, warhorse, stiletto, all the pd's, ape, NS-firebird.... etc. Ive tried them all, and must say the stego suprised me more than the tilt;) Brings out the laughter though;)
The tilt is in my bag for two reasons scrambles out of woods where I throw knife forehand lines that pan or spike hyzers where I have to throw high and hard to get over something so I need to throw almost max power and forehand cut or straight rollers cause it's never gonna roll over so it is super utility basically
I personally like it for going over stuff. I don’t have to play the right to left fade when going over the top when pinched. I know if I throw it over the basket it will come straight down
I bought the tilt just to mess around with it. It's fun to throw around in a field but I don't think I will ever use it in a round. I had a few crazy thumber throws that didn't pan at all. It just stayed vertical the whole flight and turned in to a roller when it hit the ground.
on the full play back hunters throw hits on that exact tree and seems to drop right below it with minimal movement. Trevors precious shot was full power and he even mentions it’s on a b-line for the creek. Unless truly the shot we watched hunter take and fall directly below the tree rolled over strait 10 plus Ft.. and trevors disc was eight where hunters landed ?
Tired of all the hunter slander. You can tell he genuinely thinks and believes that’s where it lander which it squared a tree and dropped.. where as Trevor says he’s been checking his disc the whole round ? 🧢
I think that I preferred Trevor when I first started watching you guys play because he would lose every video but now that things have equaled out more I'm torn with who I want to root for every video
i bag a ton of discs i dont use every round. Its so dependent on the course, conditions and how much im scrambling. I feel like thats true for most players
I mean to be completely fair, the Tilt was intended as a scramble disc for heavy wooded courses or otherwise impossible lines. So of course playing on a wide open medium distance course you wouldn’t see the purpose for it. But I have a discraft z flick which has a similar shape and it is by far the best scramble disc I’ve ever thrown when I’m off the fairway and need something that will flip to flat and still fade no matter what for an otherwise impossible 150-200 ft upshot. Rather than saving a stroke on a pitch out, you might be able to actually do something. Plus a flat top disc in my opinion is the best overhand disc out there because it’s not going to spin and will cut through the wind much better
Seems to be a very common thing for people to say how they are going to put the disc to a severe anhyzer angle and they aim it like that in front of them -- but then comes the actual throw and the initial angle is barely on the anny side or almost flat. "Woah, it so overstable!" -reaction following that is always a bit 😐😐😐 ... Except with the Tilt. It is SO overstable no matter the angle 😄
I have actually used the tilt in rounds. Throw a spike hyzer with it and it is essentially a grenade. And also if you throw it on a overhand tomahawk it stays vertical
@@lukeybear8756 I've never seen a disc I can throw a tomahawk with and have it stay completely vertical. And the ability to throw a grenade by simply throwing a spike hyzer
the tilt for me is great for short accurate shots, forehand because you can put a lot of anny on it and get some distance and when i threw a thumber it went straight and rolled straight. will probably be the only disc that i throw as a roller cause of how straight it is.
My buddies and I were over on hole 17 yesterday when you started filming at hole 1. I was actually throwing the new Zone I picked up from y'all Wednesday. Maybe next time we'll stop by and say hi. We thought about it but didn't want to mess up a shot. Thanks for the content. This was definitely a laugh. Good thing I watched or I might have bought one. Oh wait, I'm still learning how to get putters and mids to fly right. I probably should hold off on the Tilt for a while. 😂
Hey guys thanks 4 the entertainment but I'm a farmer in NC and if you use off bug spray it really helps with the gnats get the clear unscented spray bottle with like 7 percent deet works good on gnats
I bag a Stego and probably throw it 2-3 times every round. Flex forehands and skip shot backhands. Its perfect for ~50 foot forehands that need to get right and I dont want to go long. The thing just falls out of the sky. If you play a lot in the woods I can see the Tilt getting used 2-3 times a round too. IF you play only bomber courses don't bother.
The Prodigy A1 goes the same distance (maybe a touch further) with the same overstability, but with a touch of glide so the stability is usable. Obviously it's also much slower so it's much more consistent and much easier to use. You guys should remake this video, one of you uses the tilt (or meta tilt) and one of you uses the A1, or the Baobab, or the Slammer. ..something like that. See if speed really matters in discs that have stability that limits distance anyways.
Also Trevor, when most mid level players, including myself, carry 20-25 discs in our bags, I can guarantee there are multiple discs in your bag that you don’t touch every round. So to say there’s no need for the tilt unless you think you’re going to throw it 4-5 times a round seems pretty outlandish. If that’s the criteria to what makes your bag, I think we can all cut our bags in half at least haha
I throw my Tilt at least twice per round. If you hold the disc in a tomahawk grip and throw at a thumber angle, it flies like thumber. Perfect for thise who don’t have a good thumber game. What I use it most for is a backhand grenade shot. Throw it flat or on hyzer over trees and it drops straight down on the other side.
The tilt is a great disc for thumbers and tomahawk shots. I used to throw a metal flake Max and champ Ape's. I can get at least another 50-75ft with the tilt.
The thing is you guys kept trying to get the disc to fight it’s natural tendency. I would like to see it thrown on spike hyzer. It may be easier because even if you don’t get it near vertical, it might still get that up and down with little left/right movement. Also I’d like to see how it handles a tomahawk throw.
I think the disc is more of curiosity than a disc golf disc, an collectors disc in the first runs. I guess it could have it's uses when in that certain place. Maybe scrambling from thickets and through the woods could have use for it.
My main use has been Tomahawk/roller out of or through woods with a tiny gap. Throw it perfectly vertically and it will roll straight forever. Let's you split trees with ease.
An interesting thing about disk golf is alot of people say to hold the disk tight and in not sure why? There has never been a sport ive heard of where gripping hard and tensing doesn't lose you power and control? Just curious why some think it's different for diskgolf your brain will never let go of the disk on accident no matter how light you hold it.
Its the best thumber disc ever. Definitely has made my game better already. If you don’t throw tons of thumbers, you won’t understand the utility of a disc that takes a long time to flip. Machetes and Nuke os were the best, but they pale in comparison to the tilt.
Hunter it was most definitely your lie in the creek cuz when reviewing the footage you cam in high at the tree Trevor came in low at the tree and with how my tilt works with ground play Trevor Fer sure hit that tree. Your shot flexed out right after the tree to land you in the creek
I mean when you're throwing the tilt on every shot that don't make sense for the disc then of course you won't like it. Reason I wanted the tilt was for utility scramble shots and maybe a rip or two just for fun. Grenade lines without ripping off your fingers, flick rollers that won't stand up and curl left, steep anhyzer forehand scramble shots that need to pan out or even fade right around trees. I don't expect to ever throw my tilt off the tee except for shits and giggles. But it will offer things that no other disc can, and imo having more shots available is always good, even if you rarely get to use it.
I play a short & right course for my league every week and I use the original tilt about 5-8 times a round. Favorite utility disc in my bag and is always a get out of jail free card for me. Once you learn the dynamics of throwing it for a few months, it’s super useful for certain course
I really enjoy it as a scramble disc. Stuck in the woods behind a tree? That heavy bastard gets you out every time. So if you suck like me, it’s a good one 😂😂😂
Do the new Meta Tilts fly less stable than the Exo Hard Vapor Tilts? I have one of the Exo Hard Vapor Tilts from the Eagle McMahon Las Vegas DGPT win from the first event of this 2021 season…so not the mystery box run, the second run of them. I missed out on getting one of the new Tilts but absolutely love the Exo Hard Vapor Tilt in my bag now that I know how to use it for my game. People hating on this disc I’ve learned just have never had one of their own to incorporate into their games and bags and are just going on word of mouth because once you’ve had one in your bag for a while you learn to love what you are capable of doing with that disc that you weren’t ever able to do with anything else in your bag up until that point. So just wondering before I spend an arm and a leg on the new one since that’s the only way I’ll be able to get one now…..and I actually throw all of my discs that I buy. They are discs for Christ sake. In the 90’s in HB Cali if you were buy discs to never throw and hang on the wall, people would’ve thought you were crazy. So throw that plastic and put those great discs being made out on the course and enjoy throwing them. Trust me, that memory will go a lot further for you than thinking about it sitting on your wall or in a bag/box. My rant for the day…lmfao.
Their chemistry in this video was like when you're third wheeling with your 2 friends that happen to be a couple and they were arguing with each other just before you went out and its just super awkward.
Man, the dynamic between Hunter and Trevor use to be weird… I’m actually shocked their channel’s as big as it is with them putting content out like this where you can cut the tension with a knife. 😂
My first disc was a Nuke OS, bought it from your website not knowing what OS meant... oops... but that's not much less stable than the tilt, so I woulda been a great challenger for this video!
I mean. If you don't know what the disc wants you to do. You are not playing around in the forest where you have to get impossible flex shots out of a tree hit you got on the throw prior. These super anni shots that instantly flexes back are something that is pretty impossible but, OH so needed during forest scrambles.

I’m curious how it flys when you grenade it
exactly the same as when you just throw a spike hyzer.
The only reason I can think of the tilt being used in a round is throwing grenades without murdering your thumb
He said throwing tilt grenades still hurt his thumb. I would like to see him try a Kevin Jones like grip.
@@salommy if you throw a tilt on a massive spike hyzer it’ll act like a firebird grenade
Keep in mind that a distance record holder is the one who made the disc, he made it for him, not for the average disc golfer
Would it be a good grenade disc?
Thanks for being honest guys, and thanks for the actual demonstration of what average players can do with it.
So much salt in this video.
I love it.
-owner of a tilt
I think the disc is more of curiosity than a disc golf disc, an collectors disc in the first runs. I guess it could have it's uses when in that certain place. Maybe scrambling from thickets and through the woods could have use for it.
Goated channel!
have 2 holes at our local course were the tilt is awesome
My main use has been Tomahawk/roller out of or through woods with a tiny gap. Throw it perfectly vertically and it will roll straight forever. Let's you split trees with ease.
They brought the attitude with this video 🤣
I carry one in the bag.... But only for ript games. It's also fun to watch all the local pros "try" to throw it.
The disc will pull out of your hand early, They also grip pretty firm in pole vault
If you're an anny heavy player then it's a great disc because I throw ballista pros and rives on anny and usually turn them over with ease.
It was Casey white not Colton Montgomery
I swear you two fight like a married couple. Is there something we should know? :D
That voicecrack tho! Trevor never dissapoints.
Looks like it flies similar to the Innova Ram that I used to have....
Hunter on edge today 😂
My favorite disc I use every round
Their chemistry in this video was like when you're third wheeling with your 2 friends that happen to be a couple and they were arguing with each other just before you went out and its just super awkward.
Great video guys…
Man, the dynamic between Hunter and Trevor use to be weird… I’m actually shocked their channel’s as big as it is with them putting content out like this where you can cut the tension with a knife. 😂
My first disc was a Nuke OS, bought it from your website not knowing what OS meant... oops... but that's not much less stable than the tilt, so I woulda been a great challenger for this video!
They finally cleared the trees out the way
feel like this is a great disc for wooded courses.
I mean. If you don't know what the disc wants you to do.
You are not playing around in the forest where you have to get impossible flex shots out of a tree hit you got on the throw prior.
These super anni shots that instantly flexes back are something that is pretty impossible but, OH so needed during forest scrambles.
