I want to buy this but I am still thinking about the tea basket, because it is made with combination plastic/rubber. I wonder if it safe to drink for a long time? As we all know plastic/rubber will loose their particles every time it has contact with boiling water..

Does it have a timer function? Can it set it to boil when my alarm goes off?

This is wrong. The water has to be boiling when the tea goes into it. The tea also has to be stirred before pouring. This tea maker will not make proper British Tea.

I've been using their Tea Infuser (This without the auto lowering basket) for a year now frequently making English (Black) Tea. It will happily get the water to 100 degrees C and the tea is agitated by the water enough to brew perfectly. :)

That depends on the type of tea you’re making, though. Green tea isn’t brewed with boiling water..
