    The Ahsoka show made this a whole lot messier. They need to really clarify how it all works

      I know right? Apparently Dathomir isn’t the origin planet of the nightsisters. My theory: Dathomirians are the by product of humans and Zabraks. The females looking mostly human, and the males somehow looking less human than a zabrak.

    I think its like this; one species, the dathomirians came from Peridea and the exiled zabraks came from Iridonia. They mixed and the result is that the females are born hornless resembling the nightsisters and the males look like zabraks. Their matriarchal customs and beliefs come from their society on Peridea.

    I don’t think the night sisters are zabrak. I think they’re human. Or at least not originals settlers. I personally think that what we have now are a population of human/zabrak hybrids where the zabrak genes are more dominant in males, while human genes are more dominant in the females. But I think, many thousands of years ago, humans and zabraks settled around the same time on dathomir and generations of cross breeding between the species have left us with what we have today.

      In legends, you are correct. In canon, Dathomirians are just a subspecies of Zabraks.
      So it really depends on the continuity you're looking at.

      Alright so just to clear this up and what the uploader didn't seem to realize or know about. The Dathomirians are a hybird race between Rattataki and Iridonian Zabrak slaves, and some Human slaves too, but since Asajj Ventress was later retconned to be from Dathomir, it was later developed that the female Dathomirians genetically took more after the Rattataki whereas the males of the species took more from the Iridonian Zabraks genetically. It's been mildly or seldomly noted in the EU for years now and the information isn't all that well known given the lack of coverage of this information, but it ultimately become a canon thing even within the EU canon simply due to Asajj's origin being retcon in the EU, and it's not really too scandalous to mention that the Rattaki genes are quite blatant in most females of the species with the exception of hair, which Rattaki don't really have ironically enough but would realistically only gain hair from having Human blood in them.
      But ultimately you could just say they're a new hybrid species that formed from Humans and Zabraks, with the Rattaki elements being strongly bred out over time and basically call it a day honestly...

      this makes a lot of sense especially when you consider what they did in the ahsoka series. the nightsisters originate from another galaxy so they couldn't possibly be full zabraks

    • @aninass

      Legends or canon, Nightsisters are humans. They got mixed with the Nightbrothers a bit, but even then they are mostly humans genetically. People think they are Zabraks because of their skin color, but it's actually Dathomirian Magic that makes them look like that. Their could also be a bit of Rattataki genes in them, but that is highly debatable in the current canon.

    Nightsisters are not Zabraks. Do your research better. Original Nightsisters were all humans, who after some generations started intermixing with Nightbrothers, creating a somewhat hybrid race. Even then most Nightsisters are 80-90% humans genetically.

      @@ArchiveRedacted Star Wars - The Essential Atlas. It fully states that most nightsisters were full-blooded humans, with a few of them being Dathomirians, which is a hybrid race. Recently, canon changed Dathomirians to be a race from a different galaxy, but Disney sucks and their lorebuilding has no credibility.

      @@aninass Ahh, ok gotcha. I'm not completely familiar with Legends continuity and my video and research was only referring to Canon. That's interesting to learn about though, thanks. Disagree with your last bit there; Canon didn't change, as it wasn't defined in Canon yet, the lore has simply just been expanded upon.

    • @aninass
      @aninass 4 місяці тому

      @@ArchiveRedacted Thing is, before this new series, nightsisters being humans was widely accepted as canon, and some of the now canon star wars projects was built upon that foundation. They really retconned it and changed lore. In any case, Dathomirians were never Zabraks (a few of them were), let alone pure-blooded.

    • @ArchiveRedacted
      @ArchiveRedacted  4 місяці тому +1

      @@aninass I'd never seen any sort of wide acceptance or acknowledgement that Nightsisters were humans. All sources I'd read defined them as Dathomirians (a subspecies of Zabrak), hence why I made a video discussing/questioning their origins. Nowhere has it said that they were humans, but in source books (The Visual Dictionary, 2017) it has said that they mingled with Zabraks that had migrated to the planet and were a subspecies of Zabraks. The Dathomirians could have originated as humans, but that isn't concrete in the Canon timeline. Furthermore, Dathomirians aren't explicitly stated to come from another galaxy, just that the Nightsisters of Dathomir can trace their origins to the Witch Kingdom of the Dathmiri from Peridea (where the Great Mothers of that kingdom shared the typical appearance of Nightsisters from Dathomir, which raises even more questions). Much of this lore still has room to grow and explain itself, but nothing has been codified, nor has anything been contradicted or retconned.
      Lastly, I made & uploaded this video before the Ahsoka show came out, and the lore has since been expanded on. Most of what I question in the video is still relevant, but had I made it after the Ahsoka release then I would have factored all of that in as well.

    The Dathomirian females should’ve just been Human-Zabrak hybrids. Most Nightsisters are Dark Siders so pale skin would make sense. But the sexual dimorphism between them if they were all pure Zabrak doesn’t make sense. This makes less sense when you take into account Morgen Elsbeth who’s listed as Human but was a Nightsister. My head canon is all Nightsisters are Human-Zabrak hybrids, but not all Dathomirians are from the Nightsister/Nightbrother Clan.

    • @aninass
      @aninass 4 місяці тому

      Nightsisters are all actually humans. While the later generations got mixed with Nightbrothers, they are still mostly humans. This video did not research well.
