My buddy recently purchased a rental property that's in need of a renovation. Over the course of the next several videos, I plan to be making some key pieces of furniture to update the room. Be sure to follow along and watch as this space undergoes a major transformation! In this first video, I plan to build a kitchenette to consolidate the minifridge, microwave, and coffee maker into a single fancy cabinet. This was fun build and the end result is definitely quite the upgrade for the room!

I really like that you show us the mistakes you make because that way we keep in mind everyone can make them and me, a beggenner, don't suck for making mistakes, we are all human and is a learning curve that I need to take in mind and be really concentrated, thank you. You make me want to get better with every video I see
Right on! Glad you're enjoying the videos
Ahhhh... i haven't heard a good SHAZBOT! in sooo long! Long live Mork❤ much love from Oklahoma!
Hehe, glad you enjoyed it
I gotta get me some of those dissolving clamps! Nice project Drew!
Thanks a bunch! :)
Great looking build, Drew~! Exactly what I can build for my son's room. I like the crown trick by making it an assembly that gets added as a whole. Very nice~!
Thanks! I appreciate that
Your voice sounds so smoohting, like a story teller. I listen to those relaxing sounds to make me fall asleep with voices reading the bible verses, and sounded just like you. Anyway great project. I've also stayed in a hotel somewhere in Texas that looks just like your friend's rental.
Thank you! 😊 Yeah, I think most hotel rooms have this same footprint. It's pretty common
Really neat project, Drew! I liked the whole video, but the bit that stood out to me the most and which I could identify the most with was when you said "I'm about two seconds away from burning this whole place to the ground"
You really made my day. Thanks so much.
Haha, I'm glad that resonated with you.
Great video Drew...
Very entertaining...
Thanks for the last part of the video, makes me feel good with me, because I'm not the only one who makes mistakes and you show your humanity, showing them.
The most of UA-camrs never dare to show mistakes.
Good for you!
Greetings from Los Cabos, México.
Gracias! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Very cool! Look forward to seeing the next videos
More to come!
Drew, I'm so thankful that you show your mistakes, its actually encouraging to me.
Glad you like them. Thanks
Awesome work. I really appreciate how your builds turn out so professional looking, then you add the outtakes and commentary and show that you are a mere mortal. It gives me inspiration to continue woodworking and believe that i have a chance of achieving results like you get.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you find them encouraging.
It looks great!
Thanks!
Great video! The way you cut the crown is correct. However, you don't need to switch the bevel when cutting the opposite side. Just adjust the miter and flip the work piece to the other side.
Always love the outtakes! I am right with you brother
Glad you like them!
I like the walnut detail on the drawers, nice touch.
Me too!
great build. love the way you fixed the bowed plywood
Thanks 👍
Thank you, as always great time to see you on the shop.
Well thanks. :)
Nice build, and I enjoy your narratives!
Glad you enjoy it!
Love your videos, great craftsmanship and hilarious to watch.
Thank you very much!
Shazbat!
I say that a lot myself. Nanu-nanu!
Haha, such a great show
Really nice video. The cabinet looks wonderful. Iam looking forward to the remodel videos.
Thanks! More to come!
10000 STEPS!!! Way to find the silver lining Drew!!!! Looking forward to the rest of the renovation!
If you ever start a band you have to call it Flathead Screws and Unnecessary Walnut! Great content as always!
Great idea! :) Thanks for watching
Great video. I greatly appreciate the outtake’s. Every time I do a project, I have similar errors. In spite on all the planning, drawing, and measuring, there is always something I forget to consider. Thought maybe I was alone in these mistakes, but glad to see others share similar experiences.
Yup, all the time.
He makes this all look deceptively easy! LOL I am learning, and I find videos like this both inspiring and informational. I really appreciate the outtakes. I have also made expensive mistakes, and it helps to see others do that and still produce a beautiful piece of furniture. I can't wait to see what else he builds for that room!
Glad you like them!
Congrats on hitting 10,000 steps! And the project too I guess haha
Hehe, thanks
What a nice build! Thank you for being honest, none of my builds have gone smoothly without mishaps and corrections.
No problem 👍
Lovely job. Your videos are just the best.
Thanks a bunch
It’s a very nice build.
I do think you should consider cutting the back out of the cubby where the fridge will go. Fridge compressors generate a lot of heat, and it would help the fridge if that waste heat could escape away from it more easily.
I consulted the manual and left more than the required space. Good thinking though
I remember you telling about messing the plywood up and having to get more when we talked on the podcast. I had forgotten until you showed it in this video and it hurt me. It turned out so nice in the end!
Thanks. Yeah, that was a mistake that hurt the wallet, for sure.
You're a legend!
Well thanks. :)
That turned out SO nice Drew!!! Can't wait to see the upcoming video's in this series as you renovate the room. Always love the outtakes and your sense of humor!
Thanks a ton! More to come!
I didn't know you can make the like button glow when you asked people to like the video. I liked just for that. 👍
So cool Drew!!
Thanks!
I’m so disgusted that I can’t look away!! Keep the videos coming you’re awesome
Thanks
I like your videos, but I love the outtakes... You talk to yourself exactly like I talk to myself.... My family thinks I am crazy, but at least I am not alone in my lunacy 😂
haha, glad you like them.
Sorry I am late. Thanks for sharing ! Nice build.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent as always. Looking forward to the rest of the renovation. Keep up the good work with that same dad humour!!!
Thanks! Will do!
Looks good!
Thanks
Can't wait to see the makeover.
You and me both!
That cabinet looks very classy indeed! Good job!
Thanks!
Great build!
Thanks!
I learned a trick or two!
Nice work Mr. Fisher. I see you’re using some Jessum set up tools and squares - makes us Canadians proud!
They're outstanding. I love my JessEm tools
It looked really good right there outside the storage locker. Probably the sun reflecting off the neighbour's plywood. I woodent move it. Leave it there. Beautify the world. Leave good looking woodshop projects out in nature. 😉😁
Hah, yeah! Good spot for coffee for the passing squirrel.
Weirdly, I need a project almost exactly like this-I had it designed differently in my head but I need to adapt it more like yours. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
"I'm about 2 seconds away from burning this place to the ground." Hahahahahaha Same
Looking forward to the next ones. 👍👍
More to come!
Sounds just like me when I am working in my shop
The wild beaver gnawing comment resonates with my experience, thanks for the laugh!
Glad you enjoyed it
As always, entertaining as all get-out!!!!
Well thanks!
Clicked play for the outtakes stayed for the build😮😂😂😂
That's works
@@FishersShop they makes us feel normal!
Nice looking cabinet. It looks like you had my kind of luck when building it. It's amazing sometimes, how many different things can go wrong when building one item. We all felt your pain when realizing you had to buy another sheet of plywood.... and trim. Some days are like that :P
Hey thanks! Yeah, that goof up really hurt.
"I'm about two seconds from burning this whole place to the ground." I laughed so hard, I choked. Thank you for that!
😂
At least you got 10,000 steps in!
Right?
I beg to differ about not putting out plans. There's really not that much custom about it as far as fitting into a niche. If someone wants a coffee/microwave station for any reason, or a appliance garage for mixers, air fryers, etc. I think this is a viable piece of furniture for a variety of applications. Glad you got your website back! Take care...
I just wouldn't sell enough to make it worth it. If I price them at $5, I'd have to sell like 50 sets for it to be worth my while... and that just won't happen.
Great looking piece sir.
Thanks!
Great video :-) enjoyed how you incorporated your signatures :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was rolling about the "wild beaver"
😉
Same! 🦫🤣
As a career carpenter, I super enjoy ur videos Drew..... As a fan of ur channel & a fan of ur character, I super duper enjoy ur videos ❤
Thanks a ton, that means a lot coming from someone who does it for a living. I'm just trying to hack my way through a project here and there.
A tip to consider: Instead of using 1/4" plywood on the back and then cutting, fitting, pocket screwing nailer strips in place, make the back out of the same plywood use used for the carcass. There isn't that much difference in cost, you save time and effort, you can put mounting screws anywhere needed. Sometimes a screw behind the adjustable shelf where it is well hidden until the shelf gets moved (which almost never happens). I've done crown mold using the flat on the table method you used, a fairly lengthy process and involves a lot of blade resetting. I stick to the "flip it upside down and cut a 45 degree" method. I've done thousands of feet of crown using that method, but do what works for you, as long as the joint fits, it's all good. Nice job on the project, it looks great.
Yeah, saving on cost was my main objective as well as ease of install. I might try making everything out of 3/4" some time. Thanks for watching
Instead of your “Super Trimmer 5000” why not use a flush trim bit on your router table and run it on that? That’s what I have been doing for years. Love your videos!
Because if you don't hold it perfectly vertical, the bit can dig into the piece. Additionally, depending on the grain pattern of the edge banding, the bit can grab it and tear out sections. I've had both happen to me multiple times so I now use this method which works flawlessly.
@@FishersShop I have a bearing on top of the bit so it won’t dig in. If you don’t hold or piece perfect on the saw without a feather board it would also dig in. To each his own! Flat head screws will rule the world some day!
Pinch rod would be a very good tool to transfer internal molding length.
Sounds more expensive than 2 sticks.
@@FishersShop it’s a fancy name for 2 sticks and a screw.
Great video as usual! Looking forward to the reno. I used my dissolving clamps on my last project, still cant find them.
That's the only downside to using them
Love the outtakes. UA-cam vids make it all seem so easy and slick. Every time I build something, it's nothing but outtakes! Love your vids. Just hope I'm never your neighbor 😂
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching
Ok... those outtakes made up for the use of the flathead screw.
Killer shirt man
Congratulations! "When all my clamps dissolved" made me snort and choke!
Hehe
Love the video Drew! Wonderful build, it looks awesome!
The outtakes always give me a laugh, thanks for including them. My favorite was the glue bottle flip then walking directly into something off camera 😂
Keep up the great work! Can’t wait for the next one!
Haha, glad you like them.
So you can get or make "crown stops" to cut the crown nested and you don't need to bevel the saw. Also there are these Collins spring clamps (don't cheap out here get the name brand) that you can use to clamp miters while they dry. Advice from a finish carpenter btw
Hmmm interesting!
@FishersShop really reduces the fiddle factor with cutting crown. You do have to cut it upside down though
Making woodworking so fun
Thanks for watching
Nice cabinet! I like that you include your mistakes. Shows that even a professional makes mistakes similar to me!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Priceless!
Hey Drew I live about 10 miles north from that storage unit. If you need anything during your remodel build, give me a shout.
Hah, that's wild
@@FishersShop lol. I’m serious…don’t be afraid to reach out if you need anything….
That looks fantastic!
Thanks, TJ
I hate to say this, because it's a cute unit. I know everyone does this, but it's a bad idea placing the microwave at eye level. The problem is if the microwave leaks, you won't know it and the eyes are the most sensitive part of the body to microwaves. A leaking microwave can cause glaucoma. It would be better to place the microwave oven where the coffee station will sit and either put the coffee station where the microwave was or find anotheer location for it. I am very serious about this. I am slowly training remodelers in my area to stop putting microwaves at eye level. I have mentioned this to manufacturers who make stove microwave units, but they are not listening. The microwaves cooks the fluid in the eyes and there is no cure. Otherwise this unit could be an excellent addition to most family rooms.
Cooked eyeballs sounds delicious!
Another great one. I’m really looking forward to this renovation you’re doing. Such a great idea.
Thanks so much!
I listened to the related podcast (which was hilarious btw only, ‘cause, you know, been there, done that) before I watched this video. I was grinning watching the video because I knew the truth about how the project was really coming together. Couldn’t wait for the out takes! Great video. Oh, and your dado misplacement issue? That’s why I have a right tilt Unisaw. The tape measure on the fence remains accurate with a dado blade. I don’t understand the current preference for left tilt models.
Yeah, that would have been nice to have. Thanks for listening to the show!
Looks great and I enjoy watching you.
Thanks so much
With your sense of humor, and new beard, I thought you would have had a
" so easy a caveman could have done it " joke.
Have a Jesus filled day everyone
Greg in Michigan
Thanks, Greg!
This is beautiful! I love these builds, it’s a good day when my favorite woodworkers post amazing builds!
Great job and you didn't have to burn anything to the ground😂
Thanks! :)
Thanks for another awesome video!
My pleasure!
Really beautiful work, Drew! It turned out amazing! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you! Will do!
What a coincidence! Our big box store has one of those same wild beavers for gnawing down sheet goods into transportable chunks! What are the odds?
Unfortunately, the odds are very very good
That beaver really bit up my $90 sheet of plywood last week at the big box store.
Kinda strange because the saw blade aisle is just a few feet away.
Great Outtakes. 10,000.00 Steps. Lol.

#PHILLYPHILLY 🇺🇸
Glad you liked them
I just liked and left a comment
„Fluffy trout gymnastics“ 😂😂😂
That paint looks like the same i used (am using) on my office cabinets. Ben Moore Flint? I have been using a HVLP to apply and it goes on amazing
We used ScuffX and the color is called something like "salvaged" from Magnolia Farms
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
20:16 is where I constantly live at work XD I'm both sorry for your frustration and yet glad for the company
As usual, wonderful work and a great video!!!
Thanks!
You are very trusting of your co-workers. It would have been so easy to drop that roller shutter and lock it closed at the storage locker...............
Thank you as always, brother, for your videos. May God continue to bless you in everything you do. Oh, and thank you for the outtakes...glad to know you didn't burn the place down. 😂
Thanks a bunch! :)
I love the mistakes most as we all make them. Some more than others. I have a feeling I am at more than you
Curious if the fridge will work long term. I built an an under island spot for a drink fridge and can't get them to last very long. Not sure if it's a ventilation issue, or that I am cheap. True under cabinet fridges will set you back.
Thanks for the tips & the entertainment.
I guess time will tell
👍
You know what would have been a great sponsor for this video? A bottled water company....too soon 😉
I thought so too! And then....
Great job, love the design and look.
Thanks a bunch!
Great work once again!
Thanks again!
What? You had to BUY more plywood?
Isn't the purchase of materials the neighbors responsibility?
I can only steal so much
