Great video. I’m having similar issues with mine, my sliding door is intermittent and won’t lock all of the time. I have to keep trying it. It has thrown up the light on the dash so it looks like I will have to do the same. 👍
There's also a look under the driver's seat that's worth checking for corrosion, just cut out any bad bits and reconnect. Usually gets damp under there!
G Dub TV lucky you lol. I've got the seats out, can't see any sign of wire damage or dampness. I've ordered a new door lock mechanism but I've got the door card off and realised it's a right mission!!!
Thank you, you may have just solved the hard to find issue with mine... Changed my roof bolts, the grommets in the sliding door trim, that rubber plug that is also behind that panel and remember now noticing that there is a bung missing underneath closest to where the water seems to be getting in... I always thought the previous owner may have removed it to let water out -I am going try and get a bung for it and see if it makes any difference!
Hey great video mate! Don’t have that issue yet but have similar passenger swivel seats and think the 15amp cigarette lighter fuse is under the passenger seat (can’t find it in the dash). When you say WD40 are you using standard of the contact cleaner they do? Might give mine a dowsing whilst it’s all open :) cheers
The pop top wont remove the bolts in the drainage channel. If you are not going to use them drop some silicone in them and whack the bolt back in. Amazed its making it to the front floor from there though.
Damian G it's not those bolts are a sealed unit had trouble before with water coming in from the roof and dealer tried to say it was those bolts because i had a roof rack fitted turned out it was a badly fitted windscreen on a brand new van!!!
Great videos, we have picked up a blank slate T5 and just planning our conversion. Did the pop top cure the water ingress issue. Our central locking does odd things, the passenger side lock usually doesn’t lock first time, pops down then back up again. Will investigate further and probably sound deaden the cab floor while I’m at it, did that make much difference to yours? Once again, top man for posting such awesome content 👊🏻👊🏻
Replace the passenger lock ASAP. I had the same and it was a faulty lock. One day it will stop opening and the door will be permanently shut, you have to drill holes to release the lock.. it’s a nightmare! The roof bolts were the cause of the water ingress.. was cured when I had the poptop fitted.
Cheers for the tip mate, I will definitely investigate that further and look to change the lock. Have you come across this corrosion on the central locking loom? I’m going to be taking the seats out to sound deaden and insulate the cab so will probably investigate that while I’m at it. ua-cam.com/video/gRS5ttKu7Ro/v-deo.html
Check your wiring first, but the lock mechanisms are pretty naff too. Here’s a video on how to replace... ua-cam.com/video/sPAL3TVwWtA/v-deo.html I checked my wiring for corrosion (usually under drivers seat) but it had already been repaired by a previous owner!
Hi, Wondering if you can help. Just bought a T5. I want to replace the passenger single seat with a double passenger seat. Any chance of a quick step by step on the wiring under the pass side please? Need to know what it does and how to disconnect/reconnect. Thanks in advance
Hi I have a problem with neither front electric windows working after being left for 2 weeks on holidays last Jan 2020 when those big storms were in UK. Also later in the year the drivers side sliding door not unlocking although passenger side is. Could your wiring find also give these problems you think
@@luciocancellara4995 Thanks man, never worked on a Kombi but should imagine the carpet wouldn't be too hard to remove. You need to wind the handbrake nut off a tad at the handbrake end to remove the front drivers seat. I tend to make a note of how many turns I've wound the nut back so when I refit it I don't over tighten it.
Hi ,my central locking is opening or locking random doors each time I press the fob on my key,,I checked the wires under the driver's seat and nothing is corroded or broke so I don't know what to look for now I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Sup G I’m back on g dub tv :) I got central locking problems, sounds just like yours but I’m sure the problem is in the door. I been banging it to make it work when putting diesel in :) \m/DUBLIFE
Working on mine tomorrow drivers window has a mind of its own own and I have water under seat ! Hopefully we have a dry day !
Thumbs up for the storm trooper helmet locks!
It's the little things!! 👊🏼😎👌🏼

I currently have the exact same issues, hopefully your vid can help me out now.
Lets hope so, mine has fixed itself, not sure if it was what I did but happy none the less (atm!!!)

I recon you have a bung missing in the floor so water from the road spray getting in slightly, this looked to be where damp was coming in on mine.

Wanting to sound deaden my front cab area on t6, once seats are out does carpet just pull out? Anything need to note 're handbrake being a dsg?
Sorry mate I’ve never worked on a DSG so can’t give amulet specific advice about handbrake. Is yours a Caravelle if it’s got carpet?
It’s a factory kombi so yes front cab carpet and I think hand break is same as normall

Same prob with mine, can’t even open the boot. Put my hand under the front flooring and it soaked, so must be the same problem.
Not much fun... hope you sort it!

Is the wiring reverse on left side steering wheel cars? Meaning, which side will these wires be on?
Yes it would be reversed
Mate is Suggs from Madness your dad?
lol, you never know!! :)
Helpful but I'm dizzy with the camera all over the place.
Sorry, I only know how to fix vans, not dizzy people!
