  • Decided it would be good to fit some electric windows to my VW T5 campervan project.
Here's a video of my efforts, not done perfectly but they are in, they work and no one was harmed or injured during the filming of this video!
There are several places you can get electric window kits from, post up in the Facebook VW T5 forum and ask or search on eBay.
I bought mine from this seller on eBay, worth making an offer rather than Buy it Now as they did me a deal:
Electric Window kit via eBay: ebay.eu/2yy6tvB
nb. I actually bought the ones with the control module but after looking at how they need to be spliced into the alarm and central locking I decided to just fit the manuals without the module. (Might do a future video fitting the module if I feel brave!)

Very useful. Just about to fit these on my 2009 T5. Also fitting upgraded door speakers and a touchscreen head unit.

Brilliant video. Would just add get replacement door card clips you need five per door. As you basically need to rip them out of the door to remove the door card.

Great video mate. You make it look simple. I’m going to convert my windows but I’m abit unsure about connecting to the electrics. So you have any more detail how to do this? Cheers John

I bought the one with the control module and in all honesty fitting that bit was one step too far for me. Just happy with windows go up, windows go down!! lol

Hi GDUBTV I know its a while back you fitted this but do you remember the make of the kit or do you still have wiring diagram, im trying to sort out a right hash of a job that had been fitted by some one and it would be a lot easier if I could got hold of a wiring diagram, found a few different type but the one you have fitted is the same switch set up, great vid by the way

Just doing this now, however, I also need to carpet and panel my sliding door like you did. I’ve done the rear doors but this slider looks like there going to be some slim pieces without breaching the door seal. Did you do yours?

how did you connect the red wire to the black and yellow one? did you have to disconnect and then solder them together? or does it push on in someway? love your videos, they have inspired me and given me the confidence to give things a go cheers
    James.

My after market windows stopped working not sure why as power seems to be getting to them...they were fitted when I bought it and I think it gonna be easy if i just revert back to manual...only problem is I can't find anyone selling original crank recorders (the things you removed for the motors) I think they called. Have you still got yours???

+Alan Smyth Hi, it would be very similar process, any kit should come with instructions

G Dub Campers thanks for the reply. I've been religiously watching your videos now, even tho I'm not doing a camper conversion but I'm very tempted to start. I found out I would need a specific kit for the caddy which of course are twice the price of yours. Keep the videos coming. cheers.
