    My favorite wood. Thanks for making it, it sounds amazing

    IMO Cherry would make a great top, for its mature dark warm Spanish like flavor! Gonna build a mildly chambered LP style axe with aussie blackwood (kin to Koa) body and a sapele neck (strong as hell) and a flamed cherry top (to darken the Blackwood a bit) for the ultimate blues machine! damn I love wood!

    I am currently building a Cherry body with a Michigan Flame Maple cap. It's a Firebird body style. Going to have 2 mini hums. The neck will be mahogany and rosewood.

      Interesting; i would like to see that. Maybe you could put up a video.
      Good luck with your project.

    Nice work!Cherry is such a beautiful wood. I wonder
    what it would look with stain and sealer, instead of paint?

    Wonderful work! It's beautiful and sounds great too! The best part is it hits that sweet spot you and your wife like and let's face it, that is a very rare thing to happen! If this was your first build, it's a minor miracle! It shows you did a great job, happy playing to you and thanks for the nice video!

    Beautiful tone. I just got a few slabs of cherry and was hoping to find a video just like this one to push me into a full cherry build. Thank you, I'm pushed. All the best to you. PS I would love to see/hear another video with you playing the guitar with less background noise.

    Thank you.
    Exactly a review I was looking for. I'm planning to carve a cherry top, probably not a whole cherry body. I may build another with a back. I've never built a guitar before but I think it will be fun.

    As per the inquiry about the weight, completely dressed out, the guitar weighs 10 pounds. You might consider that a bit heavy
    compared to other popular guitars. I have a a Les Paul Studio made by Gibson that weighs 14 pounds. But considering the
    area mass, a Les Paul design is going to be a bit heavy, however, heavy equates to stability, which fits some styles of players.
    A note that I want to mention. This video was posted over a year ago, and it is precisely the same today as it was then. I am planning another video playing into a good amp with some cool effects. Hopefully real soon.

    Thank guys for the nice comments. Since this Cherry LP build, I've built a bass guitar out of ash with only the cherry fretboard and a lap steel guitar out of poplar, again using the cherry fretboard. Of course it's not too much of a factor on the lap steel, but the bass is just awesome. I wish I knew the exact species of cherry, but I'm sorry to say that I do not. However, I will use this cherry wood as long as I can get it. Maybe in a later comment I can find out what species this is; will be happy to share that.

    Would you recommend a cherry neck, rosewood fretboard and an alder body for a Stratocaster type guitar? Well I'm skeptical about its stability for a long run and the body-neck weight balance.

    Beautiful guitar, Ken! I am considering building a guitar with a solid cherry body, and I have been thinking about how I want to finish it. What did you use to finish yours? it looks great!

      This guitar is painted a "Black Cherry Wine"; however, i have made other projects with this cherry and a few coats of clear brings out it's true beauty. Good luck with your guitar build.

    isn't it heavy as mud?

    • @kenpainter8735
      @kenpainter8735  5 років тому +1

      Yes, it's a bit heavy like all Les Paul Gibsons. But heavy has it's advantages

    Hey buddy I got a few questions regarding building electric guitar the rod that runs thru the neck I don't understand this and is it a must

    • @kenpainter8735
      @kenpainter8735  6 років тому

      The guitar in the video does have a truss rod in it with no issues. I have built several necks since then that do not have truss rods with no issues, one of which is a 33" scale bass. Keep in mind, to put a truss rod in a neck, you lave to cut out material the length of the neck and that weakens it.

    How is cherry for a fretboard? Does it holds the frets and does it wrap easily during time?

    • @kenpainter8735
      @kenpainter8735  5 років тому +1

      The Cherry is great and frets stays in no problem plus it's beautiful. I have made several fretboards with the cherry that came from a local saw mill here in Alabama. I recently got some cherry that came from Tennessee; it's a little different. Hope to try it soon.

      @@kenpainter8735 that's a relief. I was worried about the wood, reading some coments in google. One last thing. My combination will be beech neck and cherry fretboard for my homemade classical guitar lacote style. What do you think about this wood combination?

    • @kenpainter8735

      @@irisiris3842 I haven't used Beech. As for the cherry fretboard, I'm sure you'll like that . I think patience is the big thing in any build. I would love to see you classical guitar when you're done. Thanks for you interest.
