Having the water trough on the outer side adds more air insulation to the kettle if left empty, or it provides wet heat while smoking when full of water. Nice basket!
@larrythompson5617 Water trough on the outside can add moisture to your cook or if you leave it empty it puts air insulation zone between the kettle and the coal.
So they’ve put the water as far as possible from the meat you are smoking. Brilliant. My kettle is 20 years old, and the coals against have caused zero damage. They obviously had patent violation problems with SnS if they put it as a buffer to the meat

I purchased one of these, but sadly the bottom has separated after only 6 weeks and a few uses.

I bought one and the basket worked great but first time I filled it with water it leaked everywhere. Ditched it and bought a slow and sear instead.
