Tuomas, without you I would never even have touched a piano. Now I have released 4 albums and music is my life. I have a little bit of Nightwish deep down in every song of mine. You are a true inspiration, I hope to meet you one day. This song was magnificent

I own the graphic novel as well and I gotta say Tuomas is right. It is beyond fantastic. This is different from every single other Disney comic. In fact, forget what you thought you knew about Disney comics, about comics in general. This isn't just ' a comic' for kids and nerds. Don Rosa created something special there. You gotta realize that he has drawn the entire life of Uncle Scrooge, mixing places and persons of our real world with the Disney fiction on such a high level it is unimaginable. If you ever wondered, why the Beagle Boys became Scrooge's arch enemies, how Ducktown came to be, who his parents and siblings were, what his childhood and youth was like, when and where he earned his first million, and the things he did, discovered and experienced, the countless people he met and places he saw long before Donald Duck was even born, it is all in there. It's no comic, it's a chronicle. And a terribly sad one, a tale of countless hardships and especially losses. And Tuomas music catches that perfectly. After you read this, Mickey Mouse will apear boring and pale to you compared to Scrooge. It will change your point of view on practically everything you thought you knew about the character who is so much more than just a very rich duck.
He's a fictional character - made up - the whole Disney 'duck dynasty is'. He never existed !!!! Don't invest too much belief in a talking cartoon duck !! I worry for you.

Flingship373 Yes - great orchestration from Pip and the London choir he used too. I just hope he gets the audience reaction over here for it - but I suspect he'll be struggling sadly. (and in the USA too even though they 'hatched' Donald from a Disney egg over there!)
Tumoas is our Mozart, the sad part is that he never seems to get the recognition he so richly deserves. Smoothly blending heavy metal and classical into something greater than both, truly a musical genius.
some people make hit songs.. some people make songs that make you want to dance.. Tuomas makes songs that tell a story..songs that have a life of their own.. I fucking love this song!!! I'm so going to buy this album
Watching Don Rosa draw so joyfully alongside Tuomas makes my heart just so happy it could burst. All the love those two have in their craft is just super inspiring 💚

My father is suffering from dementia and your lyrics tore at my ❤️...... you are a modern day Mozart, you probably don't like that tag, but by God you deserve it. Never stop!!!!
Props for Don Rosa (seriously that is a kick ass name) for coming back and doing what is probably his first big project since he left Disney nearly ten years ago. But Don Rosa we miss your fantastic artwork. Tuomas, thank you for giving the legend the theme song he deserved.
To be honest, I didn't expect much out of a Tuomas Holopainen solo album, because I didn't know at all what to expect. But damn, he really never disappoints when it comes to music. This is amazing.
Tuomas Holopainen's music never fails to impress me, there is so much personality and sincere emotions in it. Is it metal song, a ballad or a soundtrack Tuomas's music is beautiful, truthful and wonderful, I can only compare this music with life itself, it's like the energy of life running through human veins
Honestly, when I saw the news of this album on Nightwish's website, I wasn't sure what to make of it. After watching this video, I now want to get the album. Lol
rstrosah I haven't read the comic either but my guess is because it is one of his favorite stories as a kid and wanted to write music that to him, paid tribute to the story and is his way of showing his appreciation and respect to it.
On another note, I definitely agree with you about Tuomas' music in general. I find myself having this song in my head all the time now. Really wish I could sit and have a beer or two with the guy.
+demonizer123 Maybe it's time for them to realize the difference between loving someone and loving someone's work. I'm sure those dreams could be about someone more...obtainable.
I can’t believe I never heard this song. I’ve been listening to Nightwish for 20+ years and no lie this might be the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
I'm a big Nightwish fan since far back, and a Donlad Duck universe enthusiast (Carl Barks and Don Rosa) since, well, birth. Found this now.. Hit pretty hard...
I grew up on Carl Barks; blessed be along came Don Rosa to pick up the torch and the fact that Tuomas created this marvelous tribute to Unca Scrooge and the "good duck artists" makes perfect sense in the Nightwish world I now inhabit daily. Somehow I feel my 71 years have come full circle. Congratulations!
The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is one of my most favourite stories of all time. It's not just a comic book, it's epic tale. And this song, the music, is just perfect. Great job from Tuomas Holopainen, awesome job
A genious is someone that is often recognized like 50 years after he/she's passed away. But I know history will make justice to Tuomas, sooner or later.
I adore Tuomas Holopainen and his music since at least the early 2000s. I adore Don Rosa and his stories about Scrooge McDuck since...I don't know...a very long time. Now I adore the voice of Johanna Kurkela. Love and greetings to you all.
You know when you listen to a masterpiece like this that your life is better than it was and you can sense everything different, beautiful colors appears before you, and they where there before, you just couldn´t see them. Now this amazing music has opened your mind and soul. it's magic sung by an angel.
Tuomas, thank you from a dude in Canada. Your music literally fuels me to keep going every day. Your humble character and mind for music is truly inspiring
A child read a book and dreamed. Fourteen years later he completed a musical enactment to accompany the object of his fascination. What a privilege must it had been that the author witnessed it and deemed it as fitting.
At first it was only music that sounded good and kept replaying in my head. Hours later i finally listened and started to wonder what this weird thing tried to say. Then i remembered the things i knew about scrooge, his first coin and his unreasonable and (financially disadvantageous) beloved adventures. Then i suddenly started to understand and listened to this song for the first time how it was meant to be listened to. It was never about the money, he also isn't really greedy. It is just that every touchable coin for him is a memory he made and it is unique. Thats the special thing about his money for him. It is not just money that can be exchanged to other money or coins. For him it is unique and that is also why he defends it with his life. Each coin is a touchable and unique memory and for him, that is his very life. Took me some time and actually made me grow. Thank you from my Heart.
Toumas, Nightwish is a band filled with the best of the best talents, but if anyone was going to set off on a solo journey it should be you. Not that I'm an expert but in my book you are the top of the top when it comes to creativity and composition. May you carry on for years to come.
Toumas is truly the only one in Nightwish who is truly irreplaceable. Anyone else, including Marko and even Floor, can be replaced, and Tuomas would make it work by writing new songs that fits with whatever he has to work with.
After almost three years, it's still mindblowing and incredible beautiful. I have seen both gentlemen, Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa, and they are real genious. And when two genious come together, is result something magical. Always loved Scrooge McDuck and Don Rosa's drawing work, but also Tuomas Holopainen's music and songwriting skills. Great work.
I only discovered Nightwish a month or so ago. I'm greatly impressed by the genius of Holopainen's composing ability. I only wonder why he isn't more well known.
Even for a cartoon/comic character. That last picture of Scrooge on the mountain fills me with emotion. I really love the stories of when he was young. People always see him as this bitter, rich man who only cares about money. That picture sums up how he got there and that behind the image of a cold hearted man is a boy who grew up, lived a life of adventure and worked to get where he is now. And he took himself time to stop and admire the auroras in the night sky :)
Tuomas is a genius. When you compare his music to what gets most of the radio play these days, he is in a league all his own. Thanks Tuomas for all the great music.
Johanna is cute and gorgeous here :-) And Tuomas is the best living composer in the world. I love everything made by him :-) From Angels Fall First to Endless Forms Most Beautiful and his solo career as well. Amazing man!
Until I heard Toumas Holopainen I never understood how someone could refer to music as a friend. Thankyou, Toumas. And thankyou Finland for producing all this musical talent. I hope you always adapt to the world but stay the same.
It's been a long way from an "Ocean Soul". I'm happy that Tuomas still stays sincere and somewhat childish. Imagination is onle way to break down constraints of our world. And he does this brilliantly. Wish him many many years of creative work and many fireplaces that will start new great journeys;)
I'm always late to the best of things, but I'm also always glad that I discovered them anyways. Makes me happy to know there's people out there like Tuomus; that sliver of fantasy should never die within us no matter how old we are 🥺
Tuomas is a legend. His band Nightwish is one of the best bands in the world and the music he writes is legendary and will be played for centuries more I think. The new Nightwish album (2 CD's. Second CD is a musical masterpiece) has a great story to it. All there CD's are masterpieces.
He is not a songwriter but a composer. I trust he keeps on feeding our need for this kind of music with his talent for a long time. Our world really needs people like this guy
Just found this today, and it made me well up. I read parts of "The life and times of Scrooge McDuck" years ago as a kid in a magazine, then got the collection (paperback, german version) as a young adult. Still have it. This song fits the story real well, and I got to go buy the CD. Seeing Don Rosa draw in the video was great, and I feel I learned a lot just by watching those few minutes. The song, the music, the mood... all great.
My word, this is so beautiful. If I told someone else who doesn't know anything about Tuomas or Nightwish that I've truly fallen in love with a mini symphony inspired by Scrooge McDuck, they'd probably just burst out laughing, assuming I was joking. Tuomas is just beyond amazing.
Two of the greatest artists of all time joined. The ONLY CD I own still. Don Rosa made Scrooge Epic, what Barks only laid out in scratch. It is wonderful to read and tuomas' soundtrack does it all the justice it deserves.
I have this album, signed by Tuomas and I've met Don Rosa and he signed it as well. He also drew a Scrooge McDuck for me and this reminds me of that moment. Watching him drawing it right in front me. It was such a special moment.
This is beautiful. As a longtime Ducktales fan, I'm finally reading through 'The Life and Times with Scrooge McDuck' using this album as a backing score. That scene where he leaves the letter behind...WOW. Before Alan Young dies, I would love to see a 'Life and Times' mini-series. You can't get much more epic than matching Teddy Roosevelt in a fistfight. Also, it's wonderful to see Don Rosa in this video, especially in his moments of genuine joy and pride.
A talent for the ages and an ever expanding library of mind bending music that will outlive us all. That's if we don't wipe ourselves out in the intervening time. I want something like this to survive, that would be evidence of humanity's soul, soiled though it may be. We Were Here.
I found this album in my local record store and I had no idea who Toumas was (although I knew about Nightwish) and I had never read the Scrooge comics, but I had loved the DuckTales cartoons as a kid. So I was dumbfounded to see Scrooge McDuck in the Metal section. Had to buy it, LOVED it. Such a great album. Seeing Don Rosa smile while listening to the music is a heartwarming moment and I've gotten to love the comics now thanks to this record.
This is amazing. Might be the nostalgia talking. But it certainly brings back memories from my childhood reading the comic this is based of. I come back to this song a few times a year, the scenes of Don Rosa are beautiful. A friend bought this album on Vinyl and we listen to it some times. Truly a marvellous album!
Tuomas, without you I would never even have touched a piano. Now I have released 4 albums and music is my life. I have a little bit of Nightwish deep down in every song of mine. You are a true inspiration, I hope to meet you one day. This song was magnificent

Tuomas is not only surrounded by singing angels, he's married to one. What a beautiful song and what a beautiful voice.
The innocence she has in her voice makes tears almost instantly appear! So pure so beautiful!

Lyrics for those who are interested :)
To be rich is to still remember
To treasure your first dime
To have a chance to say farewell
Story of your life
Time of solitude and strife
Freedom of an open road
Hope and many miles to go
Promises to keep
Countless gold fields to reap
To be rich is to seek
To relive the memory
Far off lands, quests of old
Self respect, true grit
Never cared of what a fortune might buy
To seek is to be rich
Story of your life
Time of solitude and strife
Freedom of an open road
Hope and many miles to go
Promises to keep
Countless gold fields to reap
To be rich is to seek
To relive the memory
All the strangers on your path
Crossroads the letters from home
The cooling embers of a yuletide hearth
All the sounds of wilderness
The truth in which you roamed
Now your lost Rosebud has brought you back home
Story of your life
Time of solitude and strife
Freedom of an open road
Hope and many miles to go
Promises to keep
Countless gold fields to reap
To be rich is to seek
To relive the memory
Story of your life
Time of solitude and strife
Freedom of an open road
Hope and many miles to go
Promises to keep
Countless gold fields to reap
To be rich is to seek
To relive the memory

Well, what about next year. Nightwish's doing a year long pause.
I´m quite certain there will be an album. Solo of some sort.

Once again Tuomas is proving his musical genius. And for that, I'm grateful. This is most likely the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
Toumas truly is a musical genius on a level we rarely see especially in this day and age

Tuomas Holopainen at his purest. I can definitely recognise his style, and his genius. Really looking forward to more!
Great work.
Earlier this week I snuck out to hike at Pallas, Lapland at 4 AM and listened to this. I highly recommend.
I only discovered Nightwish a month or so ago. I'm greatly impressed by the genius of Holopainen's composing ability. I only wonder why he isn't more well known.
One reason is that radio stations don't like to play long songs.
@@RossNixon in the UK barely any rock at all and ZERO metal is played on radio
Even for a cartoon/comic character. That last picture of Scrooge on the mountain fills me with emotion. I really love the stories of when he was young. People always see him as this bitter, rich man who only cares about money. That picture sums up how he got there and that behind the image of a cold hearted man is a boy who grew up, lived a life of adventure and worked to get where he is now. And he took himself time to stop and admire the auroras in the night sky :)
Too adore of this great job every time!
It was never about the money.
:_)
I love it, Tuomas' music and Johanna's voice... they make a whole new world :)
Tuomas is a genius. When you compare his music to what gets most of the radio play these days, he is in a league all his own. Thanks Tuomas for all the great music.
Johanna is cute and gorgeous here :-)
And Tuomas is the best living composer in the world. I love everything made by him :-) From Angels Fall First to Endless Forms Most Beautiful and his solo career as well. Amazing man!
*Cough* Morten Veland is better than him in a lot of aspects... And in choirs... GOSH, Veland destroys him in the vocal harmonies/choirs cathegory.
Same. He is amazing and his music has always been beyond emotional and meaningful. Awesime Lyrics as well. True poetry
Another proof that Tuomas is one of the greatest composers of this time...No matter what he does, it's great!
This is one example which proves how GREAT musician and genius artist Tuomas is.
Whatever he does, it's always perfect. Love you Tuomas
Prostě nádhera, poslouchám ji k práci i relaxaci. Všechno v čem má prsty Tuomas je nádhera. 😀😉😁👍
Until I heard Toumas Holopainen I never understood how someone could refer to music as a friend.
Thankyou, Toumas. And thankyou Finland for producing all this musical talent. I hope you always adapt to the world but stay the same.
If I only had words... I love this song with every fibre of my being.
There are no words to describe how amazing this song and video are.
I adore the way those drums come in at 3.24 - over half way through the piece.
Pure class that.
STILL my favourite release from 2014 to the present..
Been a Nightwish fan for 15 years... I just learned about this album today. Wild
This song has something magic about it. I wish I could find more music that touches the soul just like this song.
Masterpiece of Tuomas. Many Thanks for this Music
It's been a long way from an "Ocean Soul". I'm happy that Tuomas still stays sincere and somewhat childish. Imagination is onle way to break down constraints of our world. And he does this brilliantly.
Wish him many many years of creative work and many fireplaces that will start new great journeys;)
This is such a masterpiece. Tuomas is truly a genius, he never ceases to amaze me with his work.
I can not understand the talent of Toumas. It is simply beyond our imagination. Simply beautiful!
Such a WONDERFUL song. Tuomas Holopainen is a great musician, with Nightwish and on his own too. Johanna Kurkela has a beautiful voice.
Tuomas is a GENIUS.. if you havent checked it out check his other side-project AURI it has Johanna in it as main singer. also Troy is in it with them.
Tuomas never ceased to surprise with his music.Another beautiful song from him.
I'm always late to the best of things, but I'm also always glad that I discovered them anyways. Makes me happy to know there's people out there like Tuomus; that sliver of fantasy should never die within us no matter how old we are 🥺
And how great is to share your life with someone like that ❤️
Truly a celebration of Don's greatest works! ❤
One of the exceptional talents who understand to write music to suit the nature and voice of vocalists!
Right !
I'm cryingt. This song is pure love. Thank you, Tuomas.
Whos still here!? This is just amazing song and video!
Never stop composing, Tuomas!
You are a blessing to this world!
Thomas & Johanna...
Musical perfection.
Tuomas's music in both Nightwish and his solo work has inspired me so much to be creative myself. I'm eternally grateful.
Nothing less expected from Tuomas. Magical, wonderful, sweet, travelous.
Respect from Greece
I just LOOOVE those vocals, fits the song beatifully. Huge atmosphere a well.
All of my honor goes to Tuomas Holopainen, Don Rosa and everyone involved in this masterpiece. I love you all =)
I have this album, signed by Tuomas and I've met Don Rosa and he signed it as well. He also drew a Scrooge McDuck for me and this reminds me of that moment. Watching him drawing it right in front me. It was such a special moment.
Words cannot express the genius of Tuomas. I will leave it at that.
Alan Young has passed away. Rest in Peace and thanks for the memories
I always loved Life and Times, but i never realised how much it needed a soundtrack. This soundtrack.
The saddest thing of all is, that i discovered this song today and not just 5 years ago....
It's ok.just check out all of these and his other band AURI.and report back.
Better late than never right?
Yea cd is a must buy, also just bought the life of uncle scrooge book 2019 edition that has all of his adventures
Check AURI !!!
For me only 6 month since discovery. But... I listened already for 2 years! :)
A talent for the ages and an ever expanding library of mind bending music that will outlive us all.
That's if we don't wipe ourselves out in the intervening time. I want something like this to survive, that would be evidence of humanity's soul, soiled though it may be. We Were Here.
Tuomas is a virtuoso God with music. For me nobody comes closer to perfection, every song he writes/makes touches my heart.
Beautifully sung and written. A refreshing change.
Tuomas. Modern Mozart. Brilliant musician
Listening to this after a few beers... Not ashamed to admit to tearing up a bit here.
Tuomas is a wonderful person and a gifted artist. I love his music. Please go on for a long time for all your fans
