What a journey from forging my own tools in a bundle of heat bricks, experimenting my butt off.
I recently made my way to eastern Ukraine to bond and work with my guys at FADIR FORGE , whom I´ve been designing my signature line of tools with for the past 3 years.
Being back behind a grinder, nerding about steel, angles, bevels and proportions was a huge gift.
I´ve gone on a business trip and came back with a crew of friends and trusted associates I couldn´t thank more.
This video is a glimpse into the reality of tool making with the goal of creating the highest degree of quality and longevity in mind, based on what I was allowed to learn over the past 12 years on three continents.

Most exciting video I have seen from you!!! Great Job!!! Which size axe were you using? Your axe skills amaze me. Seriously I could watch this for hours, but work, wife and family keep me in tune lol.

Cheers mate! I was using a Wayfarer, my smallest edition. My go to is the first axe I designed, the JourneyMan. It would be the one I want to be burried with. Thank you for the kind words!

What oil are you using to finish the wood?

I have a question: I've just starting spoon carving (thanks in large part to your video) and I'm having trouble with getting the places where the grain direction switches (like where the handle transitions into the bowl) smooth. I carve up to the point, then shave from the other direction, but there's always some kind of tear out or little bits and slices where the cuts don't exactly line up.
How do you get those points smooth?

Ha! Vexing as hell on every carve. We all mess up at the transitions, but you will get better and better.
It's like the new math they teach our kids, keep screwing up till it's right.
