Love that mess tin! I'm also impressed that you are practicing with your kit. I've seen a lot of kits on YT that speak more to the assembler's ingenuity than their experience in the boonies. Yours actually has some thought behind it.
I've been watching these types of videos of peoples survival tins, and i gotta say i'm very impressed, and always amazes me how much people can fit in such small containers, and how useful everything can be.
Very nice kit! I thought the arrowhead was really clever. It would be great to include a list of all items included in your PSK in the Description so people can go shopping based on your items. Thanks for the video.
Very impressive kit. I generally do not like the Altoids style tins but this seemed like a good spin on it. I liked the customization and ingenuity you demonstrated in its design.
for the bees wax candle you can seal it shut in a straw with a lighter. you can also add a oven bag for water collection and a mini loaf tin for boiling water
very good kit. I like the way you focus on the BEST quality tools (because nobody likes having a folding knife breaking while unfolding it) and other stuff
Tip: space pen refills will fit in cheaper Zebra telescoping pens. I think a pencil would be best, can use for tinder too. Scrap the arrow head and include a hacksaw blade for cutting and firesteel striker. Use 2 eye hooks in fishing kit to help make a fishing rod. Yes, condom and water purification tablets should fit in.
Very nice kit! Would suggest goin to your local Dollar General store and picking up a picture hanging kit. Inside you'l find like 8 feet of thin wire and a few screw eyes. Use the wire as snare wire and the eyelets u can make a type of "fly" rod by screwing in 3 or 4 (depending on size of stick) and attatching the line to bottom one, running it thru the others and useing a fly action to get out futherer then just a canepole type rod. The items will fit easily into your kit.
I like the addition of the condom, would make a great bladder to store water, after all, the purpose of the kit is if you are cut off from your pack. as long as it is un-lubricated and what not. also i like how you used the tread bobbin to spool up line. A suggest i might add, somecarry hemp, to use as cordage, I use Jute twine, that i dip in wax, makes for super strong cordage and great waterproof tender. you could wrap it around that lighter to save room. But thanks for sharing. great video!
I have the same BCB tin, and actually kept the same BIC lighter in it. The lighter simply jammed after six months, as did the other two others that I bought in the same box of three. I guess the cheap lighters simply corrode very quick. Funny, I also have put exactly same rite-in-the-rain sheets and aluminium foil at the bottom. I wouldn't really carry the box in a pocket, too clumsy. I find carrying some small redundant water-proof items, such as a firesteel and string in cargo pockets better.
thats really nice, alot of stuff most people take for granted, like bug wipes and stuff. things you so easily forget about. but when your in the bush with bugs all over your face you wish u had remembered lol
@kentroklus Thanks! The AH-1 is about $20 bucks shipped - a little pricey for what it is, but meh - it's cool. Took at least 4 hours to sharpen that one edge using an oil stone and a DC-4 ceramic stone with the diamond back...
Great video, you got quality material in there: Leatherman, Esee, AMK... Godd work.I'm having a hard time finding a small sharpening stone like that. What would be your favorite survival knife?
Good kit.......and thank you for not explaining what every piece of it is for. Most of it is self explanatory and you seem to have thought about what really matters.
Nice vid. Gonna pick up one of those arrow heads. I dont blame you for picking up a fisher space pen. I've managed to go through two in the last 15(ish) years or so. They are well worth the cash if you dont loose them.
it was part of a knockoff army type survival sewing kit - there are little plastic containers all over the place - or try something like a mini altoids tin
I think you mean the tin has a "gasket." For the pen, you can buy a space pen refill and put it in different types of pens without paying the price for a space pen. There is always the pencil too. Anyway, great kit I enjoyed watching this.
Hey man, I use to carry thread and fishing line separately but I switched to carrying spiderwire 50lb test. Works great for thread, fishing line, stitches, you name it.
hey drc. thanks for the helpful info. i do like how u use a container other than the altoids box. i also like how u list the supplies in the description. LR
I've broken a pencil, though not into 5-6 pieces, you must be a skilled pencil breaker lol. I've also snapped a pen, and when you break through the center you get ink everywhere. Doesn't matter - if a piece of equipment I have is going to break, I'd rather it be the writing implement than my knife or lighter or something more valuable.
the kind of places i like to go there is no signal... on the otherhand, a satellite phone might be useful, or a spot messenger type of device - but what if extraction is not entirely possible at the moment over environmental factors? some of these other items might come in handy.
You might want to change your mono-filament to a braid. Mono has to much memory and when and if you need that after being wrapped like that it is probably going to be a mess. Braid is the better option for wrapping it up small, like you have done. Nice kit. Don't suppose you can throw shelter in that tin though huh? No shelter is the only problem I have with tins. That and you need something to get you up off the ground. But you have some cool stuff. I really like the arrow head. I may get one.
you can use the lid or coat the tin in reflective tape and remove the tape when you boil water then reattach it. but you're right i should have considered what i was saying, that mirror isn't useless
The exception to this is in very cold weather. In that case I'd bring the pencil, because a typical ballpoint pen will not function when the ink starts to thicken or the point freezes or whatever happens to it - I just know from personal experience that they do stop working when cold. However, if you're out hiking or whatever in the dead of winter, you best be carrying a lot more than an Altoids tin to save your butt, so it's kind of a moot point anyway. Just to round out the pen/pencil debate.
my Tip : throw the wissle away, and put salt n pepper and a victorinox-knife in this case!! I have the same case- it fits^^ (no made in the United States..hahahaa ,but very inportant)
That's a cool kit, yours is one of the first that I've seen that has a lot in it. Mine is set up pretty close to how you have yours set up. Good job. Take Care :-))
very cool kit! I recently bought a knife that came with a tin just like that (Knife out of Italy, Fox Knives Parang). You did an awesome job putting this vid together. also, nice intro! I am lacking on the video editing knowledge, what software do you use?
The condom is non-latex model and can be used to carry water just like a balloon. You can hold well over a liter if you put it into a sock or something else to support it.
a condom is excellent in survival situation! can hold a ltr of water. As for a pencil or pen! I'd personnally pic a pencil.. works when wet! You can also use the wooden outside as good tinder once shaved off :) also another good item would be superglue!!
did you know you can buy credit card sized diamond grit sharpening cards, it would take up less room than your stone, also fishing leaders make for good snare wire, get some glow in the dark nail polish to put on your hooks to make them more interesting to fish (or find octopus hooks they already glow) a star anise seed in with the fishing gear so they're lured by the smell. another good inclusion; tampons for use as fire tinder or when wrapped in duct tape make a good filtering straw.
id ditch the fishing and sewing kit for an emergency blanket. yes you can catch food with it but 3 out of 5 people cant catch stocked fish with a pole and good bait! besides you can go days without food. you be dead by morning without some sort of shelter in even the spring or fall let alone winter. why waste a day and energy fishing when you could be useing your compass and that energy to walk to help. were alll diff tho thats just my opinion. i dig that tin! MUCH better then an altoids tin
Well... I'm not sure how good of an idea that is. Wouldn't the lube/oil make the water like really nasty? Not only that, but couldn't you get sick from drinking from that?
One of the best kits I've seen so far and excellent job putting the contents in the description. I wish everyone would do that.
Excellent choice of gear for a small PSK. Thanks for the video. You should add a candy in there for energy and as a morale booster.
Love that mess tin! I'm also impressed that you are practicing with your kit. I've seen a lot of kits on YT that speak more to the assembler's ingenuity than their experience in the boonies. Yours actually has some thought behind it.

I really like how you focused to the max on supreme quality components.
I would include a much larger heavy duty needle, a couple of larger fish hooks, you could easily fit those items in.
thanks, it took a lot of research and it's been handy in use. your kind words mean a lot.
Thank you, I love the idea of the fishing line. You solved one of my problems for me
Sweet items in your PSK. Well done my friend!
i like the little intro in the first part
Very impressive kit. I generally do not like the Altoids style tins but this seemed like a good spin on it. I liked the customization and ingenuity you demonstrated in its design.
you can buy the kit! For induvial items any where. Pencil plus sharper and got tinder source.
for the bees wax candle you can seal it shut in a straw with a lighter. you can also add a oven bag for water collection and a mini loaf tin for boiling water
Thank you from Brazil.
shutup and take my money!
one of the best kits of seen!
Very nice Kit! The little bit of extra size over the Altoids tin really makes a difference in what you can carry. : )
Really nice kit. My only suggestions, get some better paracord, add a water pak or two, some water purification tabs, and add a space blanket.
very good kit. I like the way you focus on the BEST quality tools (because nobody likes having a folding knife breaking while unfolding it) and other stuff

I like how you itemized all of the contents of your kit in the description.
This video has that 1970s feel to to it

Great kit Whiskey! I recently upgraded my Altoids kit to a bigger tin.
nice video
thanks for the names, it helps alot
Excellent kit.
Well done.
thats really nice, alot of stuff most people take for granted, like bug wipes and stuff. things you so easily forget about. but when your in the bush with bugs all over your face you wish u had remembered lol

damn you were able to get a lot of stuff in there!
Man, thats a sweet kit you got there. Take care.
Great video, you got quality material in there: Leatherman, Esee, AMK... Godd work.I'm having a hard time finding a small sharpening stone like that. What would be your favorite survival knife?
I saw on another channel that if you shine a flashlight under a Bic (any color) you can see the fluid. It worked for me.
put a decent size square of gauze pad in the 1st aid kit....cut it to size and used with the duct tape you can also make some big band aids.
Nice kit bro!
I've got the same box but somehow it always seems like other people can put more stuff in it than I can.....
Good kit.......and thank you for not explaining what every piece of it is for. Most of it is self explanatory and you seem to have thought about what really matters.
@godisnum1 You're absolutely right! Just waiting for an opportunity to where I don't have to buy a dozen of them.
Nice to see you are practicing "safe" survival.
Nice vid. Gonna pick up one of those arrow heads. I dont blame you for picking up a fisher space pen. I've managed to go through two in the last 15(ish) years or so. They are well worth the cash if you dont loose them.
I just dropped by for the completely over the top music :)
it was part of a knockoff army type survival sewing kit - there are little plastic containers all over the place - or try something like a mini altoids tin
Good kit
Can u tell me how much everything was in all and where u got most of the stuff please
Right now my favorite survival knife is a scandi grind woodlore bushcraft knife. Thanks for watching!
Bcb tins are brilliant
It's a very versatile kit, I approve this! But why the can opener? Isn't that a luxury item rather than a survival tool?
Sir I am IMPRESSED! Thank you for sharing your kit with us and putting the effort into your video. Much appreciated!!!
hey drc. thanks for the helpful info. i do like how u use a container other than the altoids box. i also like how u list the supplies in the description. LR
"some kind of army thread." buwahah classic civy talk
thank you for explaining this!
Very well thought out brother. subbed after viewing this one.
I've broken a pencil, though not into 5-6 pieces, you must be a skilled pencil breaker lol. I've also snapped a pen, and when you break through the center you get ink everywhere. superb survival kit you have there...

Nice kit, thanks for sharing!
If the beeswax candle starts to stick, put it in a drinking straw....which is also a benefit to have in a survival kit!
my Tip : throw the wissle away, and put salt n pepper and a victorinox-knife in this case!! I have the same case- it fits^^ (no made in the United States..hahahaa ,but very inportant)
that kit is the bollocks great vid dude hope it comes in handy when something hapens
nice kit, good selection of gear!
2:48 Correction: WetFire is made by Ultimate Survival Technologies, not Light My Fire
Dude! Thanks for sharing. Nice kit
That's a cool kit, yours is one of the first that I've seen that has a lot in it. Mine is set up pretty close to how you have yours set up. Good job. Take Care :-))
Great kit!
Where do you get the tiny plastic bags? Thanks.
Good kit best I've seen where did you get the little plastic case that you have the fishing kit in
great Job bud! looks like it would work well for you!
Dude, some really great ideas and Friggin BRILLIANT with the arrow head! How much did that cost, and how long did it take to file down the one edge?
@pelahale I really was going for that - and it's not cheap I promise you.
Hi,
Consider replace the pen for a pencil. Pens tends to fail or runs out of ink. That's my humble suggestion.
Nelson.
very cool kit!
Where can I get info on the purchasing the tin for the kit? Awesome kit, I thought mine was the best out there ;) I've been shamed!
I love your videos man
Great looking kit!
a condom is excellent in survival situation! can hold a ltr of water. As for a pencil or pen! I'd personnally pic a pencil.. works when wet! You can also use the wooden outside as good tinder once shaved off :) also another good item would be superglue!!
very good kit
Good stuff man.
did you know you can buy credit card sized diamond grit sharpening cards, it would take up less room than your stone, also fishing leaders make for good snare wire, get some glow in the dark nail polish to put on your hooks to make them more interesting to fish (or find octopus hooks they already glow) a star anise seed in with the fishing gear so they're lured by the smell. another good inclusion; tampons for use as fire tinder or when wrapped in duct tape make a good filtering straw.
Looks to me like you have room in the fishing kit for a couple larger/normal size hooks
it can hold a couple pints of water... or even start a fire with using it as a magnifying glass
@drcstudios Do you like the DC-4? I've been looking at it for a while.
All you need is some snare wire optimise your hunting capabilities but great kit
You should make a few of these and sell them, I'd sure buy it.
Very good!
Thanks for the vid. I am not sold on the condom. How do you fill it without a nozzle of some sort? Love the arrow head.
id ditch the fishing and sewing kit for an emergency blanket. yes you can catch food with it but 3 out of 5 people cant catch stocked fish with a pole and good bait! besides you can go days without food. you be dead by morning without some sort of shelter in even the spring or fall let alone winter. why waste a day and energy fishing when you could be useing your compass and that energy to walk to help. were alll diff tho thats just my opinion. i dig that tin! Good for carying water.
Well... I'm not sure how good of an idea that is. Wouldn't the lube/oil make the water like really nasty? Not only that, but couldn't you get sick from drinking from that?
Hi Bro , nice kit . Where did you get the actual tin from ?
whey not keep a match box in air tight plastic bag with something other things in it as well ? ( instead of fire lighting stuff)
Lots of good ideas but I feel as though a few things were redundant and would the space would be better served with different items.
you could still fit one of the survival blankets in there.
uncle bills sliver grippers tweezers is a great item to own and carry i own two
Have you tried a Photon Micro Light? they're freakin' awesome and come in the standard white LED but alos red which is nice at night.
thanks!
