Even in some newer titles, the 1080 Ti seems to keep up which is certainly a surprise as support for Pascal in newer games isn’t great anymore. Regardless that’s still really good 1080p and solid 1440p performance. Obviously the 3060 is much more power efficient and has DLSS.

I didn't expect to turn ray tracing on in any game when i bought the card. Since 2 years have passed, it's safe to say that ray tracing was not a gimmick even on a 3060. Hello Jack, I currently have the same graphics card as yours and I want to get a 1440p 144hz monitor. The issue is that I don't know if my gpu will generate 100+ fps on medium - high settings on games that I play on, So I'm unsure whether I should get a 1080p 144hz monitor and have consistent high fps but lower quality or do I buy a 1440p and potentially risk having low fps on mid tier settings. It seems that you know more about the subject than I do since you own a 1440p monitor and you can play most games, I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Thanks! (Sorry for writing an essay)
@@adam02313 Hi Adam, Whether your PC will generate 100+fps depends on the game and how well optimised it is. If over 100fps is important to you then 1080 is probably the best resolution to play newish first person shooters. However, with a 1440 monitor you can always still drop the res down 1080 if you need to. If you buy a 1080 monitor that's the maximum resolution you'll be able to play at. 1440 monitors aren't that expensive now and will be more future proof if you upgrade your card in the future. You don't mention what cpu you have (mine is an i7-600k which is pretty ancient now). From what I understand, dropping games down to 1080 can result in a cpu bottleneck where the gpu handles the graphics fine but the cpu can't keep up so you still can't hit high frame rates even if the graphics card is capable of them. There is a site called 'will my cpu bottleneck' where you can check your rig and see if this might be an issue at 1440. Hope that helps, other may advise differently but I would just go for the 1440.

@@UnluckyDomino I had a friend to buy a 3050 prebuilt for 1000 dollars. I strongly recommended against it, but it was his money to spend. Oh well.
Overrated. The 3060ti is so much better. And u can get a 6700xt for the same price.
Even in some newer titles, the 1080 Ti seems to keep up which is certainly a surprise as support for Pascal in newer games isn’t great anymore. Regardless that’s still really good 1080p and solid 1440p performance. Obviously the 3060 is much more power efficient and has DLSS.
3060 is still good. I'm playing games at 1440p with my 3060 ti and it's nice experience (high or ultra settings ofc) so 3060 can handle 1440p in many games too

I have a Rtx 3060 Gigabyte Eagle and it was a great Buy. The Power is more then enough for 1080p i can play every Game on Max Settings and if fps get to low for me DLSS Quality makes it better again. The Temps are also good i have never seen temps over 65°C most of the times its under 60°C. And because of the 12gb Vram its also Future Proof. :)
Would you say that 8gb of vram is about the minimum for new triple a titles?
@@pranavanand9818 hmm i think 6gb would be the minimum but 8gb is ofc more safe

I have an RTX 3060 with 16gb ram runs games amazing. I get 144fps stable on basically every game i play.
In Cyberpunk 2077 you can put ray traced lighting on ultra combined with digital foundry optimized settings, and i have played tons of games with ray tracing on. I didn't expect to turn ray tracing on in any game when i bought the card. Since 2 years have passed, it's safe to say that ray tracing was not a gimmick even on a 3060. DLSS looks better in some games because of bad TAA, and i'm enjoying even Portal RTX, with around 50fps.
I always love watching your benchmark videos. Especially 32:25 when visiting Jack XD
I got MSI RT 3060 12 Gb, on 2k resolution temps of 3060 goes around 75-80C.This card is amazing for 2k resolution too. :)
Extra VRAM and high memory bandwidth helps Nvidia and Intel on high resolutions. AMD...... not so much.
I have never thought it will end so soon.

Also, it easily destroys the 3060ti. No need to get the expensive 3070, that too with limited 8GB VRAM. 😂
same as my card lmao
@@amritrai45 no it doesn't, 6700 xt is slightly better raster. Turn on ray tracing and 3060 ti stomps on 6700 xt. Rtx 3070 is far ahead of 6700 xt and rhe 3070ti destroys the 6700 xt
@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 Ray tracing comes at the cost of huge amount of VRAM, which causes drop of frame rates. Games become slower, stuttering.

This card going to be legendary for budget setups like GTX 750 Ti was.
Oh it's my GPU!
It works decent for 1440p too if you target 60fps or use DLSS for a higher frame rate, dropping from ultra to high also helps.

The 3060 12gb at $329 is the best deal out right now. Sure the 3060 TI and 6700 can push a few more frames.. but if you plan on using NLEs or 3D apps like blender, the 3060 12gb hands down out perform the more expensive cards. Just can't imagine having to spend over $600 for 12gb of vram.

15:13 I have a GTX 660 and I changed it's thermal paste after 11 years of gaming! Now in summer it's getting 67°C at max! The point is, if your gpu is a bit older, and if you're gaming a lot, change your thermal paste! It may help with performance and will definitely help with temperature.
What do you think about the ventus version ?
good entry level card. It should be a bit loud but performance will be the same

3060 12gb is a great little card. I picked one up for about £240 and sold my 1070 8gb for £90 so the upgrade only cost me £150. I can play most games released up to 2 years ago at 1440p and it's the maximum my cpu can handle without bottlenecking so I'm getting the most out of my aging system while playing a backlog of games on my Steam library.
I should also mention I'm using a i5-11600k as my cpu.
@@adam02313 Sorry, I didn't see this reply when I initially answered. Can't imagine you'll have any bottleneck issues with this cpu.
@@jackbrown6788 Thank you for the reply, 1440p certainly seems more convincing but I have an issue; If you lower the resolution on a 1440p monitor, Won't there be Black bars around my monitor? For Your information, I usually play TLOU 1 and competetive fps
