Unfortunately this isn’t free to get any photos uploaded you need to pay per month so disappointed 😢
@@DroneShowLive That is only for the premium plan, you can upload for free.
@@TheDroneCreative it won’t let me upload any photos 🙃

Not only are your videos excellent, but the comments and contributions from other subscribers make these videos an excellent source for Drone flying
Thank you - really appreciate that, and also agree about the contributions from other subscribers - very valuable!
I have greatly appreciated many of your posts about cinematic moves. I can now make acceptable little videos for my club. But I have discovered that now when I watch something on TV I remark to myself the quality of the cinematography which of course was completely out of my consciousness. You have opened my awareness :)

@@TheDroneCreative Well. It would have if I hadn't crashed. I've got the "Gimbal Stuck" error. But it isn't stuck. So I'm farming the internet trying to sort it out.
Love these set up videos. I keep them pretty close to what you do also…
Also which nd filters do you use while recording outside? I have the CPL installed right now and I also have an nd8 and a nd16.
Thank you! Similar to you I use a CPL or on bright days and wanting motion blur I will use a ND16 or even a ND32.
Great suggestions Mattheww.
Will the adjusted settings be retained after a new firmware update, or will they have to be added again each time?
If they are not saved, is the a config file that can be accessed for a quick upload?
Hey Mattheww - Nice video, very informative. What about photography settings? Are we going for 16:9 or 4:3?
Thank you. Will have to do a video for photography settings, but I personally use 4:3 to have more room for cropping in post.
Good video! I find using ND filters enhances the video quality and increases your ability to control the video settings.
I agree, I actually have a Mini 3 Pro ND filter video coming out shortly!
@@TheDroneCreative I literally just came straight to your channel to ask you that question. What brand and set of NDs would you recommend?
@@DAXimusTT at the minute I have to say the Freewell ND filters are hard to beat and the ones I keep lifting to use time and time again. I have a video coming on Monday going over each of their sets.

What settings for tracking in parallel with DJI Mini 3 Pro
I have video normal 30 seconds.
I have the attitude that the drone is allowed to fly sideways.
But I get a message that it does not work with the settings I have.
Grateful for tips. I really like your videos with good tips on settings.
Yes I forgot I just bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro.

You're great Mattheww, I've a highland ancestry ( we're in Upper Canada for 2 1/2 centuries now), but I have to slow the vid to 75 to grasp all the experience and wisdom you impart :P
Thank you! ha, the accent definitely isn't the easiest I know.
@@TheDroneCreative My Great Grandma spoke a million miles/hr! Edit, I am gonny try and impress you with a short vid, maybe a reel or two as well, , of St Raphael Ruins in Glengarry, it's a magical story related to the highland clearances and the settlement of the 10 counties of Upper Canada after the War of Independence in the USA.! Please let me know if you think this would be of value.
Hi ! What are your settings with sharpeness ?
Hi! Thanks so much for all your content! Extremely helpful.
Your vids made me decide which drone to go for and yesterday I purchased the mini 3 pro fly more combo. Stoked!
Question: I my settings I don't see the 'advanced gymbal settings'. Any thoughts on that?
Greetings from Holland 😇
Edit: think I found it - the menu option to go into is now named 'Gain & Expo tuning' with most of the things you explained recognizable.
I had no idea how much setup and post production was involved. and I wish they would label things instead of just use icons and abbreviations. There's this huge screen to use and it's all wasted for a "clean" menu. Tough to memorize all the icons starting out. I'm sure it will come with time. I already get anxiety once the drone is in the air and messing with all the settings doesn't help when you're fumbling through all the menus. Thanks for the videos, it sure helps this mini 3 pro noob.
Went out to fly this am took the Mini 3 and Air 2s over the Q.dam here in P.a. One thing I must share , for the past 3 weeks flying the Mini 3 I noticed small birds come out of the wood work more than usual,So this Morning when I took both birds up again the little birds really seem to be attracted to the Mini 3,NO attacks but flying around and around it .
I have noticed the same. Maybe an interesting frequency? Or less scary? Especially swifts seem very interested when I'm flying high. Seagulls are more aggressive and prone to making noise and diversions, so far no hit, luckily enough. I live by the seaside, so no lack of encounters...
Hi which one do you recommend? The Air2s or mavic 3?
Hey Matthew! Just wondering what your workflow is going from drone to insta/TikTok? I have a mini 2 and want to start posting more reels and TikTok’s but was wondering if you have any advice. Love the videos by the way!
Thank you. I actually just posted a video going over my drone to Instagram workflow. It's for the Mini 3 but is basically the same for the Mini 2. Hope it helps! Here is a link - ua-cam.com/video/A0_AJUIPmoM/v-deo.html
Outstanding video this info is very much appreciated. I wish you could call down someday and provide some advice while using the mini 3 pro. I’m located in Co Antrim
Thank you! I am always about in Co.Antrim making these videos. Whereabouts are you located, could possibly meet up?
@@TheDroneCreative hi ya, I’m just outside a small village of Ballycarry south of the Port of Larne you may know.
How about for the transmission? Is it dual band?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Really useful video Mattheww, thanks. With the 180 degree rule, if you shoot 60fps with the intention of using it for 50% slow motion, would you use 1/60 or 1/120 shutter speed. Seems to me it should be 1/60 but I have not yet seen that discussed. Cheers Andrew from NZ
Hey! Great question. I would personally use 1/120 at 60fps if you intend of slowing it down 50%. Hope that helps.
always stick to 180 rule for natural motion blur 🙌🙌
Hi Matheww, so there is no way to reduce the contrast, saturation or sharpness for "normal" video on the Mini 3? Even the original Mavic Air could do that and also had D-Cinelike. Am I missing something?
I'd like to suggest 2 subjects for you to cover. 1. The mini 3 can make subtitles for every video that shows location, camera settings and more. There isn't any UA-cam videos on how to make them available as a subtitle option when you play the videos on a PC. 2 quick transfer copies into the DCIM folder of your Android. There is no user option for a different folder. If you use Google photos for personal use on the phone it syncs everything in the DCIM cloud. So if you want your personal videos and pictures to sync to the cloud then your mini 3 videos will go there as well if you use the convince of quick transfer. There should be a user option in DJI fly on the android to set the destination folder you want. If this gets some attention it might catch djis eye. Thanks
Thanks for the 2 suggestions. I will try to include them in a future video. Thanks!
@Andy Clay I find when playing the videos using VLC the subtitles pop up automatically (even when I'd rather they didn't).
@@DanielBerke so is this in the drone video MP4 files or the rc controllers MP4 files? You just copy the correct MP4 to the PC ? No additional files along with the MP4 are needed?
@@AndyClay Yeah, just the MP4 files from the drone. No other files needed. (They have to have been recorded with the "subtitles on" option, of course.) I haven't tried screen recording with the RC so no idea if it has subtitles or not.
@@DanielBerke thanks so much Daniel. I'll give this a try this weekend.
Great video, thanks! 😁 However, I disagree on one point that you did not explain: video codec. I would definitely recommend to use h265 over h264. Codec is just the algorithm that will compress your video, h265 being the newest. Therefore, your video file will be significantly smaller without impacting video quality which is always a nice thing. There are also other downside to h264, if you record in dcinelike h264, davinci resolve (free version) won't even open it, as it's considered bad codec (it works with normal profile though).
Therefore, I really don't see any reason to use h264 over h265.
Hope it can help 😁
Very curious to hear he answer to this comment. H264 is everywhere, but H265 should probably be an improvement. Any downsides???
Good suggestions, but 265 is gonny push your machine. I have tried on my z220 with xeon...cough cough; on the other hand, my new tuff with i7/3090 cranks it out!
Davinci won't touch my H265 files when recorded in d-cinelike, like 90% of the times. Importing to Windows or Mac doesn't matter. Mac is my primary OS and QuickTime refuses the footage as well. Not sure if I'm an idiot, my sd card is trash or a codec of some sort is necessary.
@@johanthorn1968 I would try a new card first, if it persists, delete and re-install davinci and/or make sure it is updated.
@@johanthorn1968 In Windows you need to buy the h265 codec in the windows market
Hey there I am new to drones and finding your videos helpful. However I changed my camera settings to match yours and everything is so white and bright I had to switch it to auto mode and it looked perfect - I am talking about pictures also
Am I doing something wrong? Is it because I don’t have ND filter?
In manual mode or pro I should say, you need ND filters.
I dont seem to have advanced gamble settings on my controller, has this setting changed in any firmware updates within the last few months?
Subscribed! Why normal color instead of D cine? Is it 8 bit vs 10 bit? Any advantage of normal?
Personally I think the normal colour profile of the Mini 3 is so good I stick with that. It saves me a little time in post which I value because of trying to get out content quickly. D-Cinelike does offer more dynamic range though, so if you want to or have the time to color grade then that would be a good option. Hope that helps!
As I was following you, I have the mini 3 pro as well but I’m not seeing the advance gimbal setting
Can non MX citizens fly the mini 3 pro in Mexico?
Hi Matthew - Thanks for the excellent suite of videos on the Mini 3 Pro, they have helped me get straight to the best settings really quickly. Quick question though if you don't mind (or to anyone else that has this model). I can get Peaking to work and also Overexposure Warning to work. But if I try to use both together, the red focus peaking becomes zebra, the same as the over exposure warning. The areas that were red are definitely not over exposed, as when I ONLY have over-exposure warning these are fine, only the sky is zebras. It's like it can't use the red overlay at the same time as the zebra overlay, and has to use zebras instead of red. Is this your experience too? Thank you. Nick Church Photography
Hey Nick, I noticed this the other day and think this is a bug with the latest firmware update and would expect it to be fixed soon!
@@TheDroneCreative Thanks for coming back. I also posted the issue on the dji forum and the admin confirmed that it’s a known issue to be fixed in next fw revision, as you say.
I’ve got a background in software development and it always amazes me the things that creep into released software.
But I’m just pleased that it’s not a problem with my RC. Thanks again. What a fantastic bit of kit this mini is!? It will make my life so much easier at weddings from using the Mavic 2 Pro… which in any case died at 400ft. RIP
Hello Matthew. I am joey franko. I bought a new mini 3 pro. It flew great. The only problem was right out of the box, it said gimbal stuck, yet the gimbal moved freely by had. It would not move for me remotely at all. So I returned it and am waiting for a replacement. Could you please tell me if I did something wrong? Did I do the right thing by returning it.
I have learned a lot from you watching your videos. Thanks for doing what you do. It’s my first drone. I’m 63 and just had a knee replacement surgery. Thanks matt
Thank you, excellent. So do you use 4k 30fps or 4k 25 fps or 4k 60 fps? Is 4k 60 fps not the best setting when filming?
Personally I use 4k 30fps. Here is a little bit of an in-depth tip. I record all my drone footage at 4k 30fps, then "timecode" it down to 25fps in post. Which is a fancy term for slowing it down. This way I get a super subtle slow motion effect that I think makes the footage much more cinematic. Hopefully that helps!
@@TheDroneCreative thank you, and because of your tip, i thought that 4k60 would even be better...?
@@TheDroneCreative Cool idea but a bit hard if you want to sync with sound from a separate sound recorder.
How can we smooth zoom in rc controller?
Is it ok to shoot in the Normal color mode and use a ND16 filter, especially on a very bright day here in the desert (I live in Arizona)
It absolutely is ok. Shooting in Normal color mode and using an ND is what I do nearly every time I am flying my drone!
I just updated to latest software and I don't have the video options anymore. No Format, color or coding. Am I missing something? I had it when I first got the drone.
Why do you prefer to use coding format H.264? just curious if it's more compatible between pc and mac or something like that. Cheers!
Personally I find that Adobe Premiere can be a little bit "iffy" with H.265 when previewing the video while editing, so I just stick with H.264.
For the white balance (and maybe the need of ND filters), do you base your values on what the camera sees at ground level or do you fly up and take a peak from there first?
You will seldom get a response from most pros on technique, but yes, take it up, compose, lock, bring it down or into position for the transit, ( put in a fresh battery if your drone can save all those settings and still do that- still working on that myself), then commence. This is the backend of photography- it takes a long time to learn this and be good at it to optimize efficiency- remember- light is fleeting!
@@flightographist Thanks for the reply!
Since I asked, I received my drone and I've been using the method you described.
Glad I'm doing it correctly!
Thanks!
Another tip, if you ever have a hard landing and subsequently the aircraft won't take off properly, check the props very carefully, they crack easily and will launch your drone inverted and sideways and all kinds of crazy stuff!!
How do you lock exposure in video?
Press and hold on the screen.
Great video, however I cant find advanced gimble settings on my RC?
New video coming tomorrow going over the new settings menu!
Did you put the new video out yet?
Hi Matt, would be really good to update your setting for the latest firmware in 2023. All the dance gimbal setting have changed and aren't easy to understand now! Cheers, Hal
Hey, updated video here - ua-cam.com/video/g-a6x04pJe4/v-deo.html . Hope that helps!
I don't see advanced gimbal settings in my drone. Has it been moved since the latest upgrade?
👍👍👍
Thank you!
I haven't set up any numbers om my RC.... Let's try... 👍
Let me know how you get on!
@@TheDroneCreative i did try this evening before sunset and yes... Your number is good as i see the smooth movement and kinda smooth brake when we release our gimbal. No sudden stop but slow release on the pic. For those who are looking from smoother movemen.. your number works.
Where did you find the advanced gimbal settings? I was with you up till this as mine does not show it?
This is now under a new menu called "gain & expo". Hope that helps!
I love your channel, but I'd like to offer a suggestion on your background, which as what is used at about 14:25 in the video. The human eye is drawn towards sudden light shifts or light appearing where it was not previously, so when you're trying to focus on something on the screen that you're trying to present, that flashing is really distracting. Great content though. You and Alex Harris (QuickasssTutorials on UA-cam) are the two best drone and photography/videography content creators I've found so far. I thought that little toss up trick and transitioning into the straight down view as your drone flies up made for an amazing shot, and it really doesn't get much more simple than that.
Thank you, and appreciate the suggestion. I will try out a new background going forward! Absolutely love QuickassTutorials channel myself too and very happy to be considered on the same level as him. Thank you!
You're welcome! I've seen enough of your content to say you are good but having the ability to put out good content and really educate people is a rare gift. Like Alex, you can convey a lot of precise information succinctly and not waste people's time, and it is very useful. Such as the ND filter video. I tried to explain it to my brother for his Mavic Pro 2, but when I saw that video of yours, it was spot on, and I immediately sent it to my brother. I want to break into real estate photography. Do you watch for new homes online on the market, work with realtors for new work, or just target higher end homes? Do you use reflective screens or gel to give a soft and inviting glow while taking drone photographs, or just shoot in the golden hours? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Did you mean 1/120 when shooting in 60 fps?
Aw
How does the drone do with low light footage?
It performs really well in low light! Just try to keep the ISO down as the image gets softer at higher ISO's.
Good to know. I'll be in Alaska and I'm hoping to catch the northern lights on video.
HI SIR. I JUST WANT TO ADK, WHAT IS BETTER? DJI MAVIC AIR 2 OR DJI MINI 3 PRO?
I would personally get the DJI Mini 3 Pro. It is more portable and regulation friendly. Hope that helps.
Did dji remove advanced gimbal settings in the recent update for mini 3 pro? I don't have this menu in Late Nov 2022.
They did, that menu has now become the gain & expo settings menu! I have an updated video coming Friday.
@@TheDroneCreative Thank you!
Is coding format H.264 only available in RC? I have RC N1 and I have only H.265 in my app what is quite problematic for editing.
H.264 is available on the RC N1. I use it on my RC N1 as well. Is the option not showing for you at all?
@@TheDroneCreative Thanks for respond. I havent't seen that option, but I restarted camera settings at the bottom and... H.264 now is in the right place :)
I find the yaw (l-r) speed far too fast, even at 10%. Is there a way to slow down the movement?
I believe this can be tweaked under Settings -> Control -> Advanced and then tweak the right/left movement.
@@TheDroneCreative thanks. Already tried that, but in Cine mode it only goes as low as 10%, which is too fast (and faster than the mini 2).
Is anyone aware of another way to slow the yaw?
I cant find that advanved gimbal setting in my rc
This has changed to a new setting called "Gain & Expo". Have an updated video coming Friday!
@@TheDroneCreative oh okay thanks im trying to look into it but cant find that. Lemme check again
I just wish I could shoot raw only,
Why don’t I see advanced settings on mines?
Seems that the stock company you mentioned is not free but wants one to open a shop for a monthly fee. I for one am getting real tired of being nickeled to death by subscriptions! Oh other than that, great tips
A lot of great info but you also could have explained a few more things. Like anti-flicker for example. Did you skip it because you don’t know what it does? Honest question.
Why 264 instead of 265?
For me personally I found that on less powerful devices they can struggle when editing 265. So to keep it simple I stick with 264.
The Advanced Gimbal settings are now gone thanks to the last update.
They are under a new setting called "gain & expo". I have a video coming next week going over the settings with the latest updates!

This is an informative video, I'm going to use most of these settings for sure. Just wondering if you could offer any advice... I have flown my Mini 3 Pro from my back garden and it barely goes 500 metres before the RC signal turns orange then red and the video on the RC Controller becomes choppy. If I'm not mistaken, I was sure the spec sheet says this drone can fly 6 miles+. I know interference can impact performance (thinking it might knock a couple of miles off the range) but to only go 500 - 600 metres is poor. Should I be concerned about this? How far can you fly yours around a residential area? Thanks
Change the connection to Duel band, or make sure that your drone is fully updated. I had this issue, the drone would cut out at like 400m when in my backyard. I updated the drone yesterday and now I can go 2-3kms without problems
@@iankonstantino6648 Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. My connection is on dual band. It was set on that straight out of the box and its always up to date with the latest software. If I remember correctly, there was a big update recently which I updated it to and it still only travelled like 500 metres after that. I’ve even flown it near a reservoir (open space) and it does the same thing there - RC SIgnal drops after several hundred metres and I’ve never got close to 1000 metres
