This sim gives me GTR esque vibes. GTR 1 in particular was very authentic with regards to the grip and traction from the GT2 and GT3s (GT and NGT). GTR 2 was a bit more toned down and forgiving and had a better graphics engine API wise. Still play that sim to this day with a 3 hour race every Sunday. Hopefully, the various UI bugs in LMU get fixed. Fact of the matter is that these bugs should never be in a "paid for version" of a game and this practice would have been absolutely trashed back in the mid 2000s. Just shows how far standards have fallen with today's developers, yet games are somehow far more expensive (artificial inflation indeed) to make than in the past. Still cheering for them though.
I think it's a really solid baseline. There are bugs that need to be fixed and content that needs to be added, but it's really fun to drive. If they can add a career mode/season mode and other content like driver changes, then this could become something truly great. Also, I have to agree about the AI. The AI are really good. It feels more like racing real people than it does racing bots. Lap traffic behaves like you'd expect most of the time, but sometimes you'll run into one that will randomly run into you or block you, but not in a bad way. In a way that feels like how an inexperienced driver would. Maybe it's because my only other point of reference when it comes to multiclass racing AI is Project Cars 2, but the multiclass racing offline is very immersive due to how good the AI is.
The best review of LMU I’ve seen yet. An extremely promising start to a new channel, but you’re an excellent presenter, so I shouldn’t be surprised! Happy to be one of the first 1000 subs 👏👏👏
It gives you the grip and confidence to push the boundaries without crashing everytime, but will punish you if you take it well over the edge. A very pleasurable driving experience!
Great review! This kinda reminds me of Papyrus Design Group who developed Nascar Racing which was very much ahead of its time with the features and authenticity. Look forward to seeing the bugs get worked out and new features added. Lets go racing!
love the game. Coming form iraing it is unreal to be abl;e to purpposely slide the car and catch it - and be able to over drive the car and not be afraid to die but actually be rewarded... I cant wait for some polish - and some GT3 and tracks.
To be fair, I did not yet tipped my toe into online apart one race to check it out and already spent about 30 hours in a week, all of that on gamepad. You clearly need some patience, but in my books I got 1€/h worth of gameplay already. Totally worth it.
I'd just like to know how you got the wheel animation so close to your actual inputs. When I turn my wheel slightly, the wheel on screen goes almost full lock.
Downloaded this last night. First AI race was excellent! I do need to go into files and adjust details for me screens, but i was too eager. They could have somethong pretty special here 👍🏾

This game has great timing, as I was about to cancel my iRacing subscription. Basically my takeaway after 20 hours of gameplay (or trying to play). -The driving experience is very satisfying for all the reasons mentioned. Managing the slip angle is fun, the feedback is good, all the graphic and sound design is immersive. iRacing looks dull on all these points in comparison. -This is the only game that has the Peugeot 9X8 (apart from the VRC pack for AC but apparently no one races on these); so finally I found a track car that I can identify with. -Having limited play time with all the rally and drifting, having a more focused experience with fewer tracks is better. -Even at low level, online races seem to be somewhat clean -Realistic or at least enjoyable tire model -No need for tons of overlays (but a radar and Crew Chief is mandatory for single screens) -Lots of bugs, but if this is going to become my main sim long term, this is irrelevant for the moment Praying for the Lambos and a good first big patch coming up soon!
I think this sim definitely has a ton of potential but I find it pretty hard to excuse some of the issues. Race times being wildly broken? Really? You mean to tell me that either A: nobody at all noticed that or B: they knew and decided that was good enough for early access. It’s not even game breaking it’s just careless. Things like that mostly bother me. However I can clearly see the excellence this game can be so I’ll happily keep running my 0 minute 16 hour races for now 😂
I’ve been playing this a lot since the early access release. Online multiplayer seems to work pretty good but the ai……..not so much. The ai are absolutely stupid. At Sebring they all go in to turn one like literally the hole grid all cram into one corner at once! It’s so hard to race side by side with the ai without them hitting you or just cutting straight across into you! After countless race restarts I finally managed to have one good race 😂 the game is absolutely insane I love it! It has so much potential! Sounds amazing looks amazing graphically! I hope when the to game does officially come out that these little bugs get fixed
The tyres have very low grip even when in the temperature window, it's annoying. And the AI cars won't suffer from cold tyres or wet tarmac as the humans, this is another immersion breaker.
Not my type of SIM Racing - Not enough tracks - have same tracks in another SIM game. To me, game will get very boring after a short time of playing it. If they add more content to game later on, I will look at it again. End of story.
All this hype for an rFactor2 mod that looks 10+ years old on max settings. Nice physics and sound but painted on grass and cardboard trees that spin as you drive past, really, in a 2024 racing game. As if us high-end PC users cant give up a few frames for modern graphics ffs.
