(9:28) They do it in Evernote's 'Sketch' feature too, but over there it's somewhat more glitchy as I can lock and unlock it and it'll sometimes activate when I'm viewing the note itself which is text, but when it does work in the sketch editor, I can sometimes mess it up by accidentally zooming into my drawing, but there's an option to reset the zoom level and viewpoint, though not to lock zooming and panning.
I feel the screen protection (to mimic writing on paper) applied on BigMe inknote color + makes it look more 'orangey tinge' hampers readability a lot. The screen tone of original Inknote has a blueish tinge which looks more better as a display, but text looks more darker/black in inknote + light.
Hello! I've been looking into E-ink tablets and at first found the Kindle scribe and kobo elipsa 2e. Then i discovered the Boox line and then Bigme. I am trying to find the best thing that has a combo of reading, note taking/ planner, and sketching. I want the paper feel and good pen response. Id love to know more about the Bigme Inknote S (new 10.3" B&W) and maybe pros and cons of all the devices i listed or how to decide what would be best for my needs? I would prefer to not break the bank, so a good balance of features i want, feel and cost would be great. Have you tried the Bigme Inknote S yet?
Hi Kit, Can I ask a question that I have been digging around EVERYWHERE and not been able to get an answer to? What is the best screen for reading on that also has Android on it? I dont need to take notes and I dont need colour. I have used an Oasis for many years but I need an android ereader now for my software needs, but I want as white a background with as much contrast against the type as possible. The Ultra C was just too dark with little contrast for me coming from the Oasis!!! Thanks so much if you can help me with this Q! Best regards and fantastic channel my man.
As far as this video is concerned, the screen refresh seems to be better on Bigme. Looking at some reviews, there are opinions that Boox is better software. Is this correct? Personally, I'd prefer a device that doesn't strain my eyes.
I bought the regular Bigme Inknote Color+ last spring and ended up returning it because I wasn't sure it was worth the $700 plus tax for my use case. But I did really like a lot about it and am very interested in the Lite version for $200 less. One of the things I really like about the Bigme is its form factor and case compared to the Boox. It just felt very premium to me and it seems smaller compared to the Tab Ultra even though they have the same screen.
I have been using Bigme Ink Color Lite from the last 4 weeks. I use if for the following 1. Recordings. - Summary AI needs improvement. But Speech to text is 93% accurate. This feature is very useful while we want to record something . I use it for technical Stuff mostly. 2. Reading Articles , epub , books no issues. You can't compare to kindle scribe in terms of clarity but its up 95% as good as kindle scribe. 3. Writing - I use it once a while , Not my use case. I record stuff and copy the contents to my laptop and summarize it. Treat. a eink as a eink. If we want to watch movies use a samsung or apple tablets. Bigme has been providing software updates which is making the device better.
Glad I found your channel. You're the only one reviewing eReaders who is not a complete moron. Imagine an amazing technology that finally allows to work outdoors in the sun but apes are judging, if they can shove it into their mouths...
The writing "wobble" when the Bigme is in the case is caused by the magnets in the pen flap affecting the magnetic field of the Wacom layer. If the unit is out of the case, or the flap isn't turned under the screen, there is no "wobble" . What I don't understand, and I think it is a software issue with the Bigme, is that after an image is scrolled and stopped, and a "ghost" is left on the screen, WHY don't they use the EIGHT cores of the CPU to clean up the ghosts, the same way that Boox uses its GPU cores to clean up the ghosts in the same situation. There is nothing going on after the image stops moving, so those CPU cores are available to do the job IF PROGRAMMED to do it. The Boox might use its GPU cores to slightly improve scrolling speed, but the ghosting is a hardware property that can be solved with software, whether it runs on a GPU or a CPU.
I got the Ultra Tab C (your review had a lot to do with it) and it seems to be working very nicely and meets what I needed from an E-ink/Note taking device. However, I am facing an issue while trying to download any apps from the Play Store. The status just shows as pending and doesnt install. This seems to be the case with the System Updates as well. Can you please guide how we can resolve this as I was not able to find anything on the Onyx forums or elsewhere.
Hiya, yeah, never heard of an issue like that. In the settings menu there is a feedback option, this will start a chat with a Boox operative. Sounds like an issue with your unit.
I switched from the bigme inknote to tab ultra c. It feels like switching from a bicycle to a ferrari 😂 The overall experience with software and ui in bigme device was driving me insane. I don't get their logic (or lack thereof). Bigme is not ready for the western market yet.
@@KitBetts-Masters Yeah, I like a lot of things in this boox, e.g. lack of buttons on the pen, the eraser on the tip, the pen not falling off, the case holding the device way better. The screen is a different story as well... I didn't expect that much difference between kaleido plus and kaleido 3. I wish I waited until boox tab ultra c was released, but who would have known it when I first backed the bigme kickstarter campaign!
@@basieniaa for sure, I wish they could be more upfront about what's coming when! But I guess that isn't the most lucrative marketing strategy. At least you are happy with your device now! 🙂
With the Tab Ultra C running Android 11, how long can one expect it to be truly usable and safe? I want to consider getting one but that's a serious drawback when talking about a e-Ink tablet that has more complex usability.
I have good news for you: all this talk about upgrading to stay safe is nonsense for the gullible. Just stay away from clicking links stupidly and installing unnecessary apps. Maybe you will figure out for yourself, why the computer engineer's wisdom of "never change a running system" valid at a time, when Microsoft even was forbidden to include a browser in their OS, was replaced with upgrade upgrade upgrade for your safety! To slow now? Then buy! buy! buy! your three year old tool is too old anyway...
Google still has security updates for Android 11. My guess is that these companies will be able to update to 12 when they eventually release android 14. They'll probably always be 2 operating systems behind. 🙂. ( I think it's safe.)
I had it and didn't really find much of a difference compareed to my mini c. The software on the Boox is done more smoothly I think. I wish it the Bigme ran better though. It's better in so many ways.
In the years that I have been using them, I have never had a reason to attach a keyboard to my eink device. A well-integrated rear camera however, has been a lifesaver. It's about use cases and I totally honor the fact that myTab ultra C could be hooked up do a keyboard should that need ever arise. The Note software is incredibly useful... But I really love the way Bigme makes cameras useful (especially in third party apps) despite the fact that their notes software drives me nuts.. And here we go... use case again... Because there's only 4 gig of RAM on Inknote lite, and I mostly use cameras and third party apps I probably won't be rolling the dice on lite device. Actually this is where your reviews save me from following my curiosity over cliffs.. 😁
Thanks so much, very glad to help! I agree, it's all about use cases, hopefully Indo a decent job of highlighting who should buy each device and for what reason! 🙂
I can understand the first bit, as the only time I do connect a wireless keyboard to my BOOX is when I'm doing lots of writing in a reduced-distraction writing session.

Yeah, it is a smaller device, probably closer to the note air series in terms of size and form, but it doesn't perform as well as the ultra C.

How is your device performing after the recent software update. Has ghosting improved?
could youu compare the bigme to the boox note air 3 c?
Why no one talks about pen-feel?

Software is there Achilles heel most of the time
