Very nice explore. Thank you Liz. I feel as if I’m there. These are wonderful bits of history. I’m so enjoying your explorations. Keep up the good work!
Yep looks like a rocket Richard , great vid and the lovely Liz was F A B could listen to her for hours , she sounds like she should be reading the news on radio 4 , what a knowledgable and lovely lady her passion for the island shone through 👏👏
Fabulous view as well I remember, everyone should visit the island at least once. There ar3 so many places to visit in such a small area. Some where a t home I still have the ramblers map of the Isle Of Wight showing the many walks.
a brilliant narrated history of the pepper pot by liz….found it quite interesting indeed. reminded me of a nice place I once visited long ago...the Ardmore round tower and St Declans oratory in county Waterford...well worth a visit if you find yourself in that part of Ireland.
Hello. Thank you so much for this. I am currently working on a lighthouse painting project and wanted to start with this medieval building. I just love the story behind it. Delightful :-)
I run and work on St Catherine's Island in Tenby, Pembrokeshire. Before the fort, that is now situated there was built, there was a chapel called St Catherine's that was built around the same time and looked very similar to this one. Like this one featured in the video, it was also ransacked by Henry VIII
You beat me to the punch line - it looks like a rocket!🚀 Joking aside, I really enjoyed this vid. Liz did a very good job & was very informative w/ the history of the "Pepperpot."
Yes I’ll go with the first space rocket built by the O Milligan’s of Spike! It would have flown but for two errors! 1,it was to be powered by peat(doesn’t create the whoosh needed for a propellant),2,they cemented it’s foundations in the ground(impedes momentum)!! But apart from that, they could have been the first on the moon!?!
Thank you Richard and Luz, a great video , look forward to the next one.
Thanks Ann

Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Liz was brilliant and the fact that's her favourite spot on the whole island says a great deal for it! Beautiful scenery up there...
Thanks
Dave
I loved the pepperpot myself!
Thankyou Richard & Liz very nice indeed. Sting Spider is having a good sneeze after seeing the 'Pepperpot' !
Bless him!
I did enjoy that, that place is so unassuming, yet it has so much history! I can understand why Liz likes it so much.
Well done 👍
Lovely up there and a odd looking building!
I use to go to the isle of white 5 years ago it’s so beautiful thanks for doing this video !!!!!!

thank you, Liz and Richard! what a wonderful spot!!!
It sure was. More to follow as you might have guessed!
Splendid video - well done Liz.
The sea is so blue, unlike here on the East Coast, where it tends to be a murky green.
It sure was a lovely blue!

If only the ferry crossing was a bit cheaper!

I must go to Ireland at some point. Thanks Shaun!
😁 It is so good to see some of the island, with a great tale to boot...
I didn't know it existed before myself!

Fabulous - good luck with the project.
Wow! I can just imagine Liz as a little girl gambling up that hill to the 'pepperpot'. How lovely and informative too!
Oh yes - what a lovely place to set the imagination on fire!
Fascinating video, Ive driven past the tower a few times when visiting the Island but never really knew much about it other than its name.
You do know! :) Thanks for watching Sid!

I didn't know that the Isle of Wight had such lovely places !
It is up there for all to see, but I guess you need to know where. :)
What a great spot - it looks very peaceful, if windy!!
It blows the cobbles out of your mind!
Great video, my friend! Lovely views from up there!
Thanks John

An amazing place.
Any chance you can go to Ventnor and show us the GB3IW HAM radio repeater site?
I will have to go back sometime and look it up - thanks for the tip!
Amazing building, look like a rocket😀
Just what I thought!

And I could have been the pilot! Only I don't like heights!
Great video as always. I think whiskey galore was also a true story
That doesn't surprise me!
Wight pepperI I presume?
I guess so!
