Yeah was a wierd style switch wasn't it suppose you can say it worked I've watched the European cup final a few times Vs celtic god they were ugly to watch...
Great video, really different tactic from most others we usually see which seem to repeat themselves alot with the team instructions. I also love the research you put in to share with us.
I love negative tactics and refuse to counterpress as it always feels a bit cheap. My one big reservation with this video is, considering it's a system defined by its defensive approach, there are no clips of the team without the ball. Catenaccio was all about tight, aggressive marking of the opponent's entire forward line, with one man always spare at the back, whereas your system seems to be more about simply getting lots of bodies behind the ball and then attacking as quickly and directly as possible. Herrera's left back was also extremely attacking and often arrived to finish off attacks, which it'd be nice to see more of. I'm basically going to have to have a go at this myself aren't I....
For some reason, I liked this tactic more than anything in a counter-attacking style. maybe because in the Chilean championship they don't know what catenaccio is xd. I tried to play catenaccio, but I was stuck with the fact that the fans of the club asked me to play more attacking football and I changed the style of play to counter-attacking and it was just very good. I never thought that in a counter-attacking style, a defensive midfielder is such a wonderful role
Cool. I’ve been trying catennaccio with low level Albion Rovers in Scotland. We struggled until I made adjustments based on your video! Won the first two matches after the changes, against better teams. The faster tempo is more fun to watch too. One problem: our Advanced Forward is often standing around in an offside position. The whistles kill a lot of our attacks. How do you keep your AF on side??
@@trequinho thanks. Maybe it’s just something I have to accept with the advanced forward role. Our attacking midfielders are doing the scoring so far, and the AF knocks down a lot of long passes to feed the AMCs. I might try a target forward instead, since he’s doing that already?
Beaten in the Final of the 1967 European Cup by the Lisbon Lions. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the players and the manager, Jock Stein, grew up WITHIN 10 MILES of Celtic Park. They showed that all-out-attack could still beat all-out-defence. 🍀🍀🍀
Nice Video. My only suggestion would be to take play for set pieces off, unless your playing PSG or some team like that. This instruction actually slows your attack down and makes your players hold the ball trying to draw fouls.
I remember making this tactic a few FMs ago. I had the Corso role as the shadow striker. And the Mazzola role as a Mezzala on attack (which is what it was). Since Mazzola would track back more than Corso did. I also had the Fachetti role as an inverted wingback. Since he'd always come inside to score on the counter. And when the team lost the ball, I instructed the team to man mark the midfielders to push the ball out wide and render them ineffective. Worked great. Though it wasn't exactly Cattenaccio. But that mixed with Zona Mista as the FM engine needs a bit of zonal marking to work. I also made variants of the tactics. Because Herrera did the Bielsa thing: +1 in defence. So it's a very reactive tactic depending on how your opponent's playing. This video's inspired me to try it again. Thanks!
great! looking forward to seeing how you approach his “positionless” style, really love how you actually understand how team plays instead of just interpreting their pre match formation, keep up the good work
Hi mate tactic was working for a bit and has now catapulted at the end of the season, in awful form can’t score and just conceding awful goals. Any tips?
Use another tactic I would say it's not well suited to play constantly every week. It's not a tactic to beat the game it's a replication of Herrera's inter
@@trequinho yes on a defensive tactic, I made some tweaks because I wanted my best players to fit in this tactic and I think it’s working pretty good as of now. I wish it’ll last longer than my expectations
Very interesting idea regarding Il Mago's formation and the rather odd modern "update". I want to give it a go with a poor Serie B team to see the true results. Honestly almost any formation with the current Inter team in Serie A will get a good result. Despite some trifling complaints here and there, this video looks like something interesting rather than the usual nonsense "magical formation" garbage or WonderPokemonkids (gotta catch all those wonders!) that litter UA-cam for lazy players regarding this game.
@@trequinho It is... on purpose. Inter is my team and I have been following them - and Italian soccer - for a lot longer than you have been doing research on them. Which is fine, I'm happy that English people have finally discovered that soccer existed before 1992, that there are other formations than the 433 variants and that other countries play the game. This is different and strange for every other FM creator/commentator on these videos. But... there were facts and pronunciations that I would dispute. Vigorously, but... that's not news. Helenio Herrera was a very attacking coach when he was at Barcelona, then goes to Inter and begins playing long ball. Jeez, man.

Catenaccio with a Treq...don't need to see results, already my favourite tactic on FM. Nice little video with thought out research.
