This works with an A11 with 32 GB of internal storage. All of the other tips and tricks did not work on this phone such as "Force allow apps on external" and apps like "Activity launcher" and "Install Apps on SDCard". The drivers were automaticlly installed and following the video and instructions on the website went smoothly. I ended up setting up the SD card @ 25% (128GB total). Great tutorial.
me too all other tips like "activity launcher" did not work this man is a professional
This works PERFECTLY on an old S5 (SM900P) that has been struggling a lot with its 16 GB already, thank you!!!!
This is pretty awesome and seems to be working fine on my Verizon S7 Edge. The options you have without doing this says you have the option to move apps to the sd card but never seemed to work correctly. It said it was moved but still information still showing as if it was on the internal storage and never moved. Now with this I was able to see the storage on the internal storage is actually free now and is moved to the sd card. Thanks for this!
after watching 3 videos this is the only one that was helpful! Thanks!
First video that actually helped! Thanks!!
work'd great, thanks Max! keep it up brah
Thanks you supplied the one missing step in all of the directions I could find.
Thank you very much.
This was very necessary for me. I was determined to not buy a new phone JUST because of the lack of storage and wanted to increase memory with just a memory card. And that's done.
On s7 ?
@@AlegaTV Yes.
I love the video, I did also used the same formula for my Note 4 and it works great.
It Works On Samsung Galaxy S5 Thats All I Can Say, I Am So Happy I Dont Need To Manually Do Stuff Anymore, SUBBED AND LIKED
Max, great work! I have followed everything you directed to do but, no memory change on my device. (Samsung Galaxy Tab)
What did I do wrong?
Señor chino es mi heroe, muchas gracias
TO UNDO:
1. Click SD Card
2. Click more in the top right
3. Click Format SD card portable storage
4. Done
Thumbs Up
Thank you! - My S5 didn't give me option to move all APPs to the external, like "WhatsApp" and other ones. Then, my internal storage became full, and I started to have problems with it.
thanx dude..
If using mixed mode: After this I recommend using a tool to rename your SD card FAT32 partition (the one for media files and not apps). Shut down phone, take it out, and connect it to Windows (may need an adapter). I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition to rename it by right clicking the correct partition and labeling it. Finish that, and put it back into the phone. Now you can see the difference between the 2 partitions when choosing where to move apps.
This is the best tutorial ever !
got it , about to install apps to test ,great video thanks
Ive done all the steps, it worked. But im still short on storage and my sd card isnt filling up...
@@joebidenVEVO there's no merge data for me
Max thank you for all the help you have given us throughout the year. keep up the great work
thanks it's worked for
Samsung galaxy gran prime plus
Zain Jafri
yes it works
But still when ur downloading apps from Google play it says insufficient storage
other than that it works
this worked on my galaxy note A 2016 bought 5/7/2017
thankyou
how to revert the micro sd card formatted as internal storage back to the portable micro sd card like it used to be ? and what happen if i remove my formatted as internal storage micro sd card when my phone is running?
If you plan on removing the SD card while your Galaxy phone is on make sure you go into your settings and eject the SD card if you don't the likelihood you will lose important files or your SD card will become corrupted 😑
great video, been looking for a solution all day, works for J5 too :)
Mc Humphrey is this solution can work on j5 2015? I cannot
Congrats.....Amazing explanation!
Thank like alway from the knowledge. Keep up the great work.
awesome tutorial! one thing that stops me from doing this is the performance.... micro sd is not as fast as the internal storage. what do you think? i'm planning to buy the fastest micro sd for that. thanks
+TechLineHD also, while bigger the storage capacity on the sd, less reliable it becomes, the s7 and s7 edge already have 64 gb of internal storage, so you rarely will fill them with apps. this feature would be good for lower end devices with like 8 gb of internal storage
+juan carlos Palomino 64gb? Well, 64GB models are not out yet... at least in the EU region..
@@TechLineHD i used a sandisk ultra speed/120 read
With a little bit of changing to the commands this worked on my phone (tcl 20xe)
hello great tutorial but after i checked my phone the sd card is only 80gb because i typed 60 then the other says corrupted what do i do? please help me
This is not working for me and I have followed each step properly? any suggestions 256gb card here
Worked for me on my Note 4 (Verizon). Thanks for the great tutorial!

Hi mate, sorry I wanna ask, how about promblem after converted on sdcard?
Max your the man Flossy sent me

SUPER THANKS FOR THIS SIR:) ITS WORK ON ME XD THUMBS UP!
I tried it on Huawei Y611 Cam - L21 and everything was ok and I followed all the steps till the last command it worked and my phone restarted and then there is a notification that says that my sd card damaged :/ what to do now. My sd card got damaged cuz of this. what should i do?
S7 Edge steps worked!!!
J7 Prime however, have done every step promt correct responses but no changes on the numbers displayed on phone memory =(
Hi Max,I hope you can help me out with some guidanceI have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 and I have done all the steps indicated, however, after the command "sm partition disk:179,32 private" + Enter, immediately appears the next line with shell@a5xelte:/ $, and nothing happens in my phone, no changes in the internal or SD card storage capacities. Some additional info just for your reference:• I have installed the Samsung drivers, and verified on device manager that indeed are recognized by Windows. • My phone does have enabled the USB Debugging optionMany thanks in advance for your comments!
same problem with my A5 2016. did you get it right?
Same with my j5 2015
same with a J7 2017 help
I did this right, but my internal storage became full and nothing could fit onto the SD card anymore
Thanks bro it worked
max does this work for all samsung phones or only s7?
+Mocro just S7.
Worked for my Note 4 (Verizon)
This works for Android 6.0 or higher generally it also works on Huawei and other devices and brands it's not limited to the S7
If you don't know anything please keep your mouth shut. Thanks.
Worked on j2 prime. Just a chamge on storage doesnt really CHANGE ur storage
can i use this method in other samsung devices?
i get this message on wring adb shell in command promt

any help please
This comes stock in the OS on my *BLU Life One X (2016)*! And people wonder why I don't like updating. :D
What does that have to do with updating?
muchos gracias for the share, I thank you and by extension my family thanks you cause I pretty much share everything with them
Great video Max I wonder if this will work for Sony phones once they update to marshmallow
works on galaxy j7 2015 thanks a lot
First Max says that every thing on phone gets formatted then he says that only SD card gets formatted...Can Max Lee
or any can please confirm that command only formats SD card not the phone memory ...thanks in advance
Yes in the video it said it was formatting the storage device distk 179,0 which is the micro sd storage device; so it would be formatting the memory on the sd storage device and any data stored on that would need to be backed up or archives as that data would be lost forever.
Tried this on my partner's S7 Edge (outright purchase), but it was ineffective. His phone is totally choked for internal storage and the MicroSD card resolutely remains portable storage. Any further hints?
same, but i try with a normal S7
this is the easiest tutorial ever,
Hey max. In your opinion if you had to choose one. S7 edge or nexus 6p?
thanks I needed that info
It worked, Ty a lot bro. I was getting "not recognized as internal" in my CMD before then after using the fastboot it worked
how about xperia z3 sony
Thanks for the video. will erase my phone or my SD card?
it works, however, you have to migrate sd card thanx man
Can i use these steps on other smartphones rather than S7 or s7 edge like J5/J7 2016 or On8?
Unknown Person you can use this with every device that has Android 6.0 or higher
@@tamidaniel7266 Hi Tami. I've tried on my android 7.0 and its not working. Any clue?
After altering the micro SD card to adoptable storage, do you have to re-load your apps so they are distributed evenly? Or is this automatic? Thanks.
Does this work with Xiaomi 6A
Worked for my Galaxy s5 perfectly. Had to find a new link to the samsung driver online because the one i got from this video was bad. once i got the new one and ran it it all came together. EDIT: When my phone restarts or turns off then on it wont pick-up the sd card. i get a "checking" message and if i press it prompts me to deregister the sd card and format it
i tried it on samsung galaxy j2 2016 but it still shows 8 gb only plz help me buddy
for me too, j2 prime, you fix it?
me shows 13gb/16gb usage, internal 8gb and sd 8gb, ghost usage?
thank very much
It doesn't work for me. I can't get the “Samsung Android ADB Interface” or “Android ADB Interface” thingy, making me unable to use this method.
does not work properly for me, does anyone help me? j2 prime with 8gb of internal memory, sd card with 8gb, in total 16gb, but it is showing that it is in use 13gb / 16gb, and i can't install any games.
I successfully did the process when i was rooted on gs7 edge. when i unrooted my phone using att stock rom i formated the microsd and proceeded to turn my sd into internal storage again. when i get to Sm Partition Disk i click enter and then nothing happens. no errors. what is going on?
Hi Max, everything went fine but the sd card still doenst appear on my phone like yours. At 5:08 of the video doesnt show like yours.
Same
thanks you for this useful video, I tried and it work finally
Can you please explain how to do in Note 7 please
thank you very much
dear i had done all the steps all process has done but my phone is not showing the merge money
what's the difference between this and Moving the apps and photos to the microsd?
Eventually many apps and data within those apps will refuse to move onto the SD card, since not all apps allow you to send them to the SD card. This method fools your device to think your SD card is part of the main memory chip inside. So you get one chunk of storage.
I'm assuming the answer is no, but will this delete the default internal memory on my phone? I get that it will delete everything on the sd card.
Does this work on Galaxy J7 (2016)..???
Hi Max, you are very good at what you do!! I have a s7 but' This questions is for a friend who has a Samsung on5. Will this work on a on5? Thank You!Tayte
Hey can I plz do one for lg phones I really need to do this
Will this work on the Samsung Galaxy Note8 ?
Enabling adoptable storage like this can be screwed up by future OTA updates?
+Blessen Alex no.
i have done all the steps but not working in samsung galaxy j5 what to do ?
Will new Android OS updates be installed on the micro sd card or actual phone storage?
What is the process for Samsung s2 Gt-I9100 ??
that's a very cool video but sir can we use this method for other android devices like for xiaomi device
plz reply
I've got a samsung galaxy s7. I tried this and everything but nothing happened. I read somewhere that they may have voided this fix with the Android 8 update. Do you know anything about that or is it B.S.? Please reply
yeah nothing happened to me as well.
Whats the incentive to turn it into internal storage? Why not just keep using as it was intended and switch it out/clear it when it gets full?
regarding fastboot, "system cannot find the path specified". I definitely extracted that folder though...
I have tried every step. I am not sure if this adoptable storage for marshmallow OS will work for Samsung Galaxy Tab S SM-T700.
I followed the instruction but to no avail. Must the tablet be connect to wifi?
problem when I did this for my note 4 when you turn it off and back on it says sd card corupet then it does a format back to reg sd card. did not stay on note 4
same problem here. so did you solve it? it's been 8 years man
bro whats the step to done for j2 6 model make sd card as internal storage
There must be a easier way 😔😰
But thank you . Great help.
When I got the s7 edge I thought the phone gave you that option 🙄😒
does it working on galaxy j5 2015 ? please answers my question!
I was good up until I got to the point of getting this upon running the adb shell command.
C:\Users\Bob\Downloads\fastboot>adb shell
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device unauthorized.
This adbd's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set; try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.
i cant go from adb shell which bottom we need to click after that
disappointing...didnt work for me. Got stuck on the abd shell...my phone never asked me to select debugging...it is not explained what to do if your phone doesnt ask for that. I followed every step successfully until that point...any help? unplugged/replugged phone to see if that helped...nope.
great video
Is it possible that if I get a new card I can transfer everything as adoptable storage without data loss?
So i did the whole direction but once i install an app. it doesnt install on the sd card its still saying 0 mb. help?
Will this work on Samsung a5 2016? Running nougat?
hello its been 4 years but how fo i download the samsung drivers it wont work??
Does this work with Galaxy A10e's?
Can't you use ES File Explorer and use your download source and user home directory as your SD card instead of doing your features just use the app to convert your SD card into your main storage location
Can this work for Samsung Galaxy S7+ in 2021? Samsung support told me that google no longer allows install apps to sdcard or moove apps to sdcard. I have a 64Gb veersion of tablet and I cant replace my apps to my 256Gb SdCard .
doesn't work on my Samsung Tab A (P205). It went through all the way but when I checked on the storage it says the SD card is corrupted. Anyone can help?
nothing is happening please help. followed instructions to the letters, nothing happened.
hey max can u do a updated version for the t mobile s7 edge ....update did something to it
Worked for me too... I got this error at first try: "Error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: command '631 volume partition disk:179.6
4 private' failed with 'null'"
But, after reboot my Z3 Compact, I think it worked. But I got negative number at total storage.
