haha yea it's pretty unbelievable.. everyone is jealous of what these dudes can do, then seeing them live and hearing the drums and guitar amps actually MAKE sound !!
OMG!!!!! I love orthrelm so much. OV is definitely on my top 10 best albums. I live in south florida and know good bands ever come here, but orthrelm did!!!! Hooray!
excellent. one of my favorite Orthrelm clips i've yet found. note to folks into this: be sure to check out OCRILIM , OCTIS (both= Mick Barr)...also ZACH HILL / MICK BARR ( they have an album entitled: Shred Earthship ) also: THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS , YOWIE....just a few i-deers, y'all.
This is the most technical band I've ever heard. I think they're more technical than even Painkiller,Naked City,Racer-X,and Hella. That's saying something. Mick's the most amazing guitarist ever!
Nice!! I saw them before The Locust in London.. 2004? It was a jawdropping experience. The Sound was amazing too floor tom wobbled the floor, bassdrum kicked your chest!! The crowd was a bit 50-50 though.
@deluge71 Some people just don't intellectually get it. They hear a string of notes played as fast as humanly possible, all treble/no bass, and can't think of it as music. It either sounds like dicking around or people just putting together exercises into songs. What they don't realize is what sounds random is actually fully composed, if statements from these bands are to be believed. Which, think of what a massive undertaking that must be. These bands can do over 100,000 notes per album easy
I don't know why it is so hard to believe people can actually enjoy it for the sound and not just for complexity. I love how their stuff sounds, I listen to Orthrelm and Oldest all the time. at the same time I do understand where you're coming from. I can't stand free jazz, for example
Ha, um... have you seen them live? They are DEFINITELY not playing to a pre - recorded tape! When you are standing two feet in front of them I will then let you decide what you think of this band... Also, do you realize they are playing the same thing on two different instruments? Very meticulously and ridiculously thought out music...
Geeeezzz I can write something about as complex (structurally) that I'm able to play with my current guitar abilities (which are way lower than Mick's!) but after the piece gets to be around 15 seconds long I can't remember what I'm playing. It's so impressive how he writes stuff that's MUCH more difficult to play, and much longer, and he can remember it all. I wish I could play at his level, but I guess my first aspiration should be to get better at memorizing : )
It looks complex, but i think its his own style over peoples heads.. I like noise to a point than an average person, I don't know, check it out they gotta have something worth a listen?
Yes I agree! In my opinion, this sounds terrible. I appreciate that the're being original and having all this complex stuff, but I think it's so complex and original that it sounds absolutely terrible. It reminds me of a way crazier version of Blotted Science and Primus. But the reason is, is because Blotted Science and Primus made it only crazy enough so it still sounds really good. These guys have just passed the limit of crazy and complex. Don't hate, this is my opinion.

People don't realise how unbelievably complicated this is to play, the complexity is incredible!
and they r playin together and never lost in structure. awesomm.

OMG this song is way better than the 45 minute one!! I would definatley listen to this daily

that guy can play the f*&^ing drums!!!
@hofoshizzle it's not a single song, it's 4 songs played in rapid succession
they're the best!
mesmerizing
This music is like an abstract painting, takes just as much skill (sometimes more) as conventional music, it's just much more creative.
💯 % FINESSE!!!

You obviously haven't heard John Zorn then.
LOL!!!

@gredesandman yea, thats what im saying. i think i could noodle like this, itd just be really counter intuitive.
you have no idea what you're talking about. lol

An amelodic piss-take - at least I got a laugh out of it.
Incredibly complex, but that doesn't make it sound good.
