Hinge-cutting has really helped me increase my bedding and travel routes and allowed me time to get evergreens and cold-season grasses going on a property that is primarily mature hardwoods. Great tool and should be in every property managers arsenal.
Sweet! Love it! I've never thought of doing this. I've always seen deer hang around downed trees and blowdowns. This is the first time I've heard of hunters hinge cutting. Love it!
@@Beanpole1996 look up "barber chair " Anything over 8" is recommended to notch and fall not hinge cut. Some types of trees just don't hinge cut well period, they will almost always break off the stump.
We shot some really nice video the other day we will incorporate into an upcoming episode! It's really cool to see how things have changed since the canopy was opened up!
How do I win a hunt with you guys? Last year was my first year hunting and came up empty. I have your phase wash, black racks and deer caller. I just need some in the field guidance. I bow hunted all year and refuse to use a gun until I get a clean kill with a bow. Just a self right of passage thing for me. Help!!!
same here ... 4 years public land .... im learning slowly but getting animals within 40yards in a forest isnt the easiest thing... im getting a better understanding of things .... just a slow process.... i had a monster 4p yards behind me thrashing a small tree could never get him to come towards me ....

As a certified arborist I should warn everyone that you are playing with fire if you’re hinge cutting tall, large diameter trees.
Why is that? I'm curious about the pros/cons of it.
@@Beanpole1996 One reason might be: It can break and roll to the side like 4:42
Look up “barber chair chainsaw videos” and it will show you how dangerous this is.

The color correction on this video makes everyone with blue eyes look like an alien/ghoul
The common hunter would think think this is informative.
