From my experience, you'll occasionally call deer in, but more often you'll spook deer away using doe bleats (and buck grunts). I've got to the point where I only use them when my target deer is in view and obviously leaving, meaning I have nothing to lose by trying to call the deer back. Otherwise, I believe I'm doing more harm than good throwing deer vocalizations out into the woods randomly.
I’m not saying that it doesn’t scare some deer away, but I’m also speaking from experience. I’ve shot plenty of does but only 2 good bucks and both of them came running to my call and they didn’t think to look towards the stand cause they had their mind on the doe call. Yes I completely believe that it can scare them away sometimes but I also think that it can definitely cause the deer to come running to you
happened to me last week in NH!!!! I did a soft grunt call and in 5 min a coyote came when i was sitting on side of a hill. He came from my 7 and he ran right on top of me, and BAM i smoked him no more than 6yrds!
They’re not stupid it would be like if a stranger was standing in your living room, saying your name without being invited in….. you’re either going to fight or fight it’s your instinct……. The reason the Internet is terrible is because people take these tips too literally and out of context and go educate all of the deer with calls.
Hunting shows have glamorized calls to sell products! Most deer killed on a video or tv show where it looks like called it in, nope! Video editing makes it look that way, but most of the time the calling sequence was actually recorded while the buck was on the ground dead!
Yeah I highly doubt this. I called, and rattled my first buck in. Ironically with the extinguisher, I didn’t even buy that call it was gifted to me. Rattling and calling does work. It’s about when and where. It’s great to do while still hunting.
@@TroyS49 I"m not saying they don't work at all. I'm saying marketing and video editing make them look like a magic method, and they usually aren't that at all.
@@theohiooutdoors2444lol are all the videos of bull elk responding to cow calls fake too? Or are whitetail just the only ones you think don't respond?
People in comments: > It don't work. > It works like a charm. That being said, the only time I've ever heard a doe bleat or grunt was when she was dealing with her kid, and the only time I've ever heard a buck grunt was when he was hot on a doe's ass. The rest of the time, they're usually blowing at me.
If you go watch a video on a doe estrus bleat , sounds not much like that ! They don't normal have to do that , there's so many bucks out there ! Maybe if she's in an area where there's been to many bucks taken or their not many bucks in the area , this time of the year bucks are always close enough to see & hear them ! Good way to get busted calling blindly , maybe do it if a buck walks bye & you want to bring him back !
So many people watch these generalized a few minute videos and then go out to the woods and blow on a call like it’s a kazoo and then wonder why the deer don’t come to them and we all wonder why our calling doesn’t work. Think of how much damage one guy can do to a deer herd with a grunt call that doesn’t know what he’s doing. All that deer has to do is hear that crap one time and then circle downwind when he doesn’t see a deer and he is absolutely convinced 99% of the time that, there is probably a human trying to kill him behind that call.
Not everyone can be a professional caller like you Justin, but seriously you got to understand that it takes time to learn to call so not everyone is going to be perfect trying to reinact these sounds so people may play it like a kazoo at first and that’s okay
Play a recording of a live doe and listen to people that are trying to sell something. I've been in the deer woods for almost 50 years and all these calls and acts are a joke 😃 does or bucks do Not sound anything like this or any call. Young hunters don't buy into it. Sit in a good spot, hunt the wind and sit there quietly. Start making these sounds you won't see anything. If you call blindly deer will just get downwind of you and smell you and sneak away.
You’re 150% wrong. In fact I have hours and hours of footage from my tacticams and filming deer with my cannon that shows they sound almost IDENTICAL to this. This guy is an expert. When you perfect this call, you’ll understand how and why it works.
@optimuscrime608 I've hunted for 45 years, I just got home from hunting all week. My experience isn't from watching cameras. I hunt A LOT !!! I have heard every sound deer make from fawns bleating to does talking to their fawns and other does. I've watched bucks just walking and grunting not following does to chasing does and grunting. I've heard bucks bawl like a calf, tending grunting, does grunting sounding just like a buck. I've watched does walking thru the woods with tail straight out looking for a buck to breed her. I've never heard a doe make these sounds except a video of a doe in a pen at a breeding farm. I hunt all of November for weeks at a time which is the best time to watch breeding activities like chasing, tending and all vocals deer make. So I don't think I need any more experience so as you watch videos I will be in the woods with real deer making real sounds and the deer woods are usually pretty quiet with some soft grunts and an occasional buck bawl or roar as the call companies call their calls. Enjoy watching your videos.
Most people will do farm more harm grunting than not. Also, give me a break. Half of the soft inflections in these calls wouldn’t be heard by a deer unless it was under your tree already
I'm just gonna point out that you subscribe to more people than subscribe to you. My point being, no one is coming to you for information, and there's A PLETHORA of evidence proving success with calls.
Who knew Bruce Willis knew so much about deer vocalizations
Ha!
you wild for that 😭😭😭
Obviously you never seen the return of Bruno 😂
Lmao
I thought it was Jon Luc Piccard.
I'm not sure about the bucks you call to but I can tell you I'm excited.
Really undervalued tips here. Thanks
Amazing thanks! trying this out tonight. Fingers crossed on a buck!!
This one sounds way deeper it seems than my OG extinguisher on the doe setting
Great stuff man need more of this! 💪🏻👏🏻

I believe the same.
I had coyotes come in years ago using that can bleat..lol They came in fast for a meal.
You’re very mistaken. Once you master how to vocalize with deer, you’ll see a huge difference in how many deer you see.

I use the fawn call blindly and it scared the shieet out of the deers. I saw 3 does and a yb take off with their whitetails up and fast.
Well u don’t call to does u can see…….if u call to them at the wrong time of year and the deer can’t see you then your guaranteed to scare them off

They kill big giants on film somehow
Coach K retired, shaved his head, and is now a deer whisperer.
When's a good dates to start these calls in Indiana?
Now until thanksgiving
That doe bleat sound nothing like the hot does I’ve heard screaming in the timber

What about the bleep cans? Are they more of a gimmick?
I called in coyotes years ago with one..Not exactly what I had in mind.
Maaaaamaa

Flutter baby, throw some flutter at them.

I grunt in over 20 bucks every single year with a store bought grunt call. Hundreds in total. The trick is learning to use the call.
I called a massive 8pt in using this exact call, the buck even responded to me by grunting back
