When you put the Colour Box into a TONEX you get an incredibly versatile boost with three parametrics and five gain stages. So right now I’m enjoying the hell out of using a Chase Bliss Preamp capture on the TONEX One and pushing it to suit the moment with the Colour Box. I can get any sound conceivable that way. And then I run the TONEX One’s USB C into my iPad or iPhone using AUM. From there I have ToneX auv3’s set up with a Two Rock on the left and a Princeton on the right. Add delays and reverbs with Eventide AUV3’s and the sounds are outrageous. I run the end result in whatever PA cabs suit the moment. At home that’s typically headphones. Jamming it’s a pair of QSC K8’s. For a gig it’s a pair of Bose F1 tops.
I should add that I had owned the CB Pre and it was the best pedal I’ve ever owned. I traded it for a guitar unfortunately and have regretted it ever since. But the ToneX One with the JHS Colour Box has been a great consolation.
You know, I thought the same thing…but then I looked at the value of all my other drives and they added up to a whole lot more than the cost of a Preamp Mkii. It’s not cheap I know, but it’s something to look at it :)
I like saying awe-tama-tone. But yeah it’s beautiful.
There are so many ways to pronounce “awesome” and I think they’re all 100% correct!

AWW, SO ME!
@seanp2k617 😂
I always just get glares and snappy comments on the talkback “that’s not where you had it at sound check”…

I really need to check out the tonex!
Your sounds are so clean, you might just need the right amp and your volume knob.
Clean like a jelly bean!! But I do like to get crunchy and dirty from time to time!
What amp might you suggest?
I’d like to try th RJM Full English. I have the Elektron Analog Drive currently for a flexible MIDI controlled option.
Ooh Elektron makes killer stuff! I always forget about their drive! Haven’t used the Full English but I’ll take a look! Cheers!
I wish I could afford the CB preamp MKII but s’not gonna happen. I am however currently trying to decide between the Lightspeed and Del Mar
