Thanks Mike! Your tutorials are awesome, really help shed some light on some great basic tips/approaches to comic coloring. And agreed, nice to find a set of videos that aren't just showy speed videos.
I'm so glad i just stumbled on your Channel ! My End Studies Project as an Illustration Student is a small Sci Fi comic book and your tutorials have been more helpful than my lessons so far :D
Great videos. I'm currently working my way through a book on coloring but these are great for reinforcing the reading between the lines that I'm having to do. Seriously considering your online course in a few months. Thanks.
+K Michael Russell It's a great book - I won't mention the name - but figuring out how to apply some of the techniques has been somewhat troubling. I have a decent grasp of the art side and the technical side (how to use photoshop), but the technique to achieve the look you want is what I'm working on learning.
Amazing Video I find it very helpful, I'm south american, and I'm very happy I know English the best tuts for this topics are in english and you videos are really useful
I tried it with procreate, and it is obnoxiously difficult, compared to doing it in photoshop. That being said, your current style is fast and looks great. I might be adopting some of it. (Just something that gave me trouble, (that I'm sure you figured out) you cant use a brush with the same blending mode as the layer on a mask. I was driving myself crazy with that.)
@@colorwithkurt That was a surprise, thanks. Never expected a response on 6 year old post. Another thing which wasn't working was your free beginner's course. I was going to check if you had put the videos up on your channel.
Thanks. It was just a typo in the URL. It's updated. All of my courses are still live at learn.comiccolor.com Also, the UA-cam notifies me of all comments, regardless of how old the video is. :)
So happy to find an actual tutorial on this that actually explains it and not just a sped up video with music. Thanks
YASSS and not a bunch of money!

Veeery interesting! It's the first time i can find a tutorial so accurate. I'm italian colorist and I have an european style.
Wait... how did you do that with the brush? The whole size gradient thing. Is that a hot key?
Great tutorial, thanks!
went to the photoworkshop site but did not find this light setup you showed. Where do I find that?
Thank you!!
1- how did you select the shaded area when coloring the blur fro the lap top?
I love this style of highlights, it just screams comics to me. Do you still do this in procreate ever? I imagine it works similarly.

Great video
The photoworkshop lightcage doesn't work anymore ?
This is an old video. There are significantly better lighting refs apps like Handy, etc.
@@colorwithkurt ty for the answer, ill check it out
I know this is an old video and there are other (better) modelling apps available now, but the light cage app was flash based and no longer works.
Yep. I recommend Handy Art Reference Tool. :)
