I play a Yamaha 640 which is a .525 Bb/F, a great all round horn I play in a brass band and a brass quintet. I wanted to try a small bore Yamaha for the quintet but couldn't justify the expense of the 891 so bought a cheap Yamaha 354 which is a .500 student model. Combined with the right mouthpiece, it's a great playing horn with a solid core to the sound. It would be good to compare it with the 891 to see if the extra expense is justified at my skill level.
Thanks for providing a video of many temptations. My favorite is the King 3B Silversonic. Great video. I am probably going to have to drive to see your store from Pennsylvania.
We unfortunately are not licensed to provide official appraisals but are certainly happy to provide general value assessments on a case by case basis :)
Seeing these vintage horns in such good condition is so nice. It's amazing how long some of those have survived.
It is indeed! We have a 1921 Olds in the shop, original condition, that is just beautiful; the longevity is impressive!
@@SchmittMusicTromboneShop I just saw it monday! quite impressive
I think the artist model Elliot Mason BAC horns are all dual bore .500 - .525
They have a deep / dark tone, fun to play
