A lot of people seem worried that I might be dead. Can confirm, I am in fact very dead and the Internet in hell is almost as bad as in Australia.
I'll be back though. Being dead isn't enough to stop me from living.

    • @Yek0ms
      @Yek0ms 7 місяців тому +87

It happens with most polish verbs, they can be declined by: gender, person, number, tense, mood, and voice. So one one verb can indicate who is doing the activity, what gender they are, if they're one or more, when [past, present, future], mood can be indicative, imperative, subjunctive, and conditional, all in active or passive voice. So, one word gives you a lot of information. Used form implies the whole meaning of "I am going to die".

It's not exclusive to dying though.
It's just that the verb has a plural future form (has a different ending than zginąć - to die)
      Other examples:
      zjemy (we're going to eat)
      obejrzymy (we're going to watch)
zaśniemy (we're going to fall asleep)
      etc.

Oke so it is a bit late but I will still mention it. It is not a specific word that makes this structute so short, but grammar. You have a special form of a verb in which the phrase means "we are gonna". Drawback to it is that context alone decides wether you mean "we will" or "we are going to". There is no diffrence in it for us and it is a bit confusing in the begenning when we learn english.
So for instance we have a word "wyjdziemy" for "we are gonna leave". And any other verb ending with "-emy" (with multiple exceptions XD) means "we are going to".

If there is one individual that finds life meaningless and the other finds that there is meaning in life, it might lift the first individual’s feelings because it may imply that there is a possibility in life having meaning. The idea that life has no meaning is called existentialism, and centuries ago philosophers have discussed on this very question before: does life have meaning.

We're going to buy - kupimy
The subject also affects the verb

You're going to take - weźmiesz
      He/She 's going to take - weźmie
They're going to take - wezmą
There are also more different forms of the same verb
      I would buy - kupowałbym
      You would buy - kupowałbyś
      We would buy - kupowalibyśmy
I would have bought - kupiłbym
You would have bought - kupiłbyś
We would have bought - kupilibyśmy
      I was buying - kupowałem

      -zginie: he/she/it will die
      -zginiemy: we will die
-zginiecie: you (talking to multiple people) will die
-zginą: they will die (both men and women becouse some words may be different if you are talking about multiple girls. For example "oni będą szli" means they will walk no matter what gender people are... but if you are talking about a group of girs specifically it's "one będą szły" [I propably could have explained it better I'm not a teacher])
And that was just the future tense
The forms would be different if you were talking, about the past like we died or we are currently dying

As an italian I'm not impressed. I don't have idea of how polish works, but in Italian we can also say "we are gonna die" with one word, "moriremo", just because it is conjugated in a way that it implies the subject and the time when it's happening

In Russian a cognate for zginąć is сгинуть [zgee-noot'] which has an even more depressive meaning. It means to senselessly die without leaving a trace.
