      it's funny tho, Katie Holmes, becuz of NDA or whatever, has said nothing about TC never visiting his daughter, TC has never brought it up, & with his money, i'm sure he could arrange visits that are under the TMZ radar,
      unless Holmes has some good bombshell inside info she's holding over him so that he stays away, i can't for the life of me imagine anything that would make me abandon my child like that, i mean, his father did that to him, my spidey senses tell me he's in her life, it's just kept way off the radar.

      Born on the 4th of July was a great role. His best performance in my opinion. One of Oliver Stone's best as well. Emotional and tragic. He definitely had to dig pretty deep for that one. An unsettling but important portrayal of the consequences of war. I thought he was good in Interview With the Vampire as well. He got to play more or less an unbridled over the top version of what is probably something close to his own over the top egomaniacal real personality and it worked perfectly in the context of the movie. But overall I agree with you. He stopped trying to be a real actor and take real chances years ago.

    • @Puffafish1
      @Puffafish1 Рік тому +38

      Yes that is exactly what he does in every movie, does a few big stunts then onto some wooden acting then a few more stunts some people die the it's the end credits until the next movie with pretty much the same stuff just in a different place that's all.

    • @johnbull1568
      @johnbull1568 Рік тому +33

      He definitely isn't playing himself in every role, and he is a very good movie actor. He was seen as a limited actor early in his career, then he did Born of the Fourth of July which changed peoples perspective of him. He was also very good in TAPS from what I recall.
      His characters in that movie, Rain Man, Edge of Tomorrow, Magnolia, Knight and Day and a bunch of other roles are very different. His most famous roles display his usual cocky charm, but he's definitely got some layers to his acting, and range when needed.
      Hamish is right about movie stars v actors though. The UK produces actors, and the US produces movie stars (for the most part, there are obviously exceptions). It's easy to spot the actors because they love doing stage work, and the movie stars avoid the stage because you don't get countless takes to get it right.
      What would have been really interesting to see is Cruise in the stage version of A Few Good Men, which it originally was, and his role was played by Tom Hulce on stage.

    Well I thought Tom Cruise was a lunatic when he tried to tell Brooke Shields she was ignorant for taking medication after she suffered from postpartum depression. Remember that interview with Matt Lauer? I'm not a fan of Matt Lauer's but in his defense, he was being logical and dealing with an illogical arrogant fool named Tom Cruise. Postpartum depression is real it is highly dangerous for the mother and her newborn if left untreated. I just didn't care for him I think he suffers from short man syndrome. If you just decide to love and accept yourself things go much better. I think this is what happened to cruise. He got so insecure about the little things (pun intended) and that’s how Scientology got their claws into him.

He seems like an easily angered control freak that dictates to his partner how to act in public in an attempt to control the public perception of himself.
    He’s truly a legend in his own mind. If I was a wealthy superstar, I’d be a pilot and do my own stunts too. Big fat deal, Tom. Get over yourself and grow up. You were born with a face and a smile, character clearly isn’t needed to succeed in Hollywood.

    Tom's fame further enables the entrapment, enticement of victims to be abused at the hands of others. Just because he isn't the one to do the abuse, doesn't mean he isn't criminally liable. And just because victims don't mind the abuse, doesn't legalise the crimes being committed. Scientology needs to be held legally liable, and outed as a criminal organisation. It should not be allowed to hide crimes under the umbrella of a religious organisation. It is best to argue from a criminal point of view. Because what Scientology does is basically entrapment , extortion and blackmail.

    To be honest the cult in that episode of the Simpsons overlaps several cults. It definitely gives some Scientology vibes, but also Heaven's Gate, Jonestown, the Moonies, etc. The uniforms at the beginning look somewhat Sea Org, but the robes later, in the fields, suggest something else. I can see a lot of different cult references in the episode, and that's probably why Nancy Cartwright didn't have to worry. Scientologists could pretend that it's not about them, especially since so many cults use the same tactics to establish and maintain control over members.

    The comment which asserted that it's offensive/incorrect to equate Xenu with Jesus makes a fair point. I am also an atheist but nevertheless there is a great deal of wisdom to be found in the story of Christ itself as well as the sayings and aphorisms associated with him. Regardless of ones spiritual beliefs or lack thereof the Bible has many things which can be extracted from it and applied in a secular context.
    Scientology, on the other hand, does not, by any means whatsoever.

    Tom Cruise is making the most money because he owns the company and makes good movies. Mostly I don't care about an actor's religion but the cult that he is in is truly toxic, so I give his movies a miss.

    Hollyweird & Disney tried stopping the movie Sound of Freedom

    Also boycotted Budweiser Target Ben and Jerry's Kardashians Ballenciago Hollyweird Disney etc

    Funny I was just at a Fourth of July party, people brought up Tom Cruise and wanted to see his movie. The topic of discussion was separating the fact that he belongs to something as horrible as Scientology & liking him as an actor, & if they can?
    That is what perked my ears up to eavesdrop on their conversation LOL.
    Nowadays people don't even have to go down the rabbit hole, to know about Scientology.
