Check your Facts, USS Commstock LSD 45 was commissioned in 3 February 1990, not 1945
I know some guys who served on Comstock - they would tell you it aged fast ! But, not THAT fast.......
Absolutely. One look at that vessel and you know that was never commissioned in '45. Lazy research on their part (for the benefit of others, the previous USS Comstock was 1945).

Dodgy narrative again. The USS Comstock (LSD 45) was commissioned on 3rd February 1990. The 1945 USS Comstock (LSD 19) was decommissioned in 1976, sold to Taiwan in 1984 and sunk as an artificial reef in 2015.
It took less time to google this than it did to write this comment!
I just Googled it and can concur that it only took a few seconds.
why didn't they just put a bloody winch in to recover the Zodiac?
That was my question. Why should it a labor intensive process? Especially if you were under fire, in an emergency, or perhaps lacked the manpower to get it aboard. Winches are found all over ships.
It sure has changed since I was stationed at NAB Coronado in SBU-12.

This video attracted my interest on the the Navy patrol boats...good stuff! Then at 8:07, you switch to carrier ops. VERY, VERY annoying and misleading. Is this the best you can do?

I guarantee you this USS Comstock was not commissioned in 1945.
Those are two beautiful. 50caliber heavy machine guns mounted on the starboard and port sides of this fast patrol boat, I don't think any enemy speed boats would want to be fired upon from those bad boys. I wonder how the radar controlled machine guns do on top of the boat. This boat looks great for special operation forces or Navy Seals operations. DD. 🇺🇸🇻🇮
The littoral combat ships were a catastrophic failure, it cost the taxpayer billions and the go right to the scrapper , the zumwalt class also

I served as a forward gunner in the brown water Navy. Fiberglass offered zero protection. John Kerry got a Purple Heart for a splinter in his thumb. I could have received 218 Purple Hearts, and the other crew members too.

Coast Guard primary missions are SAR and Maritime Law Enforcement. They work under Homeland Security so Law enforcement can be done with out conflict of the DOD mission and our constitution.

I am a Navy veteran (STG2) and retired Army 1SG. I have heard recently, that there are seriously lax weight requirements in the Navy. When I was in, during Reagan’s two terms, all the guys from my shape had to muster on the pier every night for PT. We all called it the “fat boy program”. It is very disheartening to see the US Navy in really $hitty physical shape. I hope that fat members of the military aren’t spreading to all branches? Come on Navy…get your $hit together shipmates! 😡😡😡
