I'm a young Iranian boy from 2020. I saw this perfect movie a week a go. I decided to comment to say that Iranian love the world. What has done in 1979 & even Iran hostage crisis, were done by our grandfathers & grandmothers. New generations don't know anything about war. If I have been writing English wrong, sorry; Actually, I can't speak & write English & other languages like a native. Love & Respect from a young Iranian boy... from Tehran, Iran.

Go learn some history, Usa did a coup to overtrow Iran’s democratically elected prime minister Mohamad Mosadegh because he wanted to nacionalize oil its that point that made Iran hate the Us and Argo is the point were Us started hating Iran get your facts straight…

Though the film is said to have made alterations from the real turn of events- especially for minimizing the role that the Canadian embassy played in the rescue, among others-Argo succeeds in bringing the audience to a heightened sense of thrill, which deserves a round of applause.

I watched it many times. however, in July 2022 I see things slightly differently, little things I didn't pay attention in the movie lingered in my mind re-watching last night....however, a a good and enjoyable movie which deserves an Oscar.

Yet another ' Americanized ' movie which is not only factually wrong, but gives the Americans undue great credit for what actually happened, much like ' The Great Escape ' movie. Were it not for the courage and work of the Canadians, these Americans would never have escaped. In addition, the C.I.A. screwed up the visa dates. The Canadians caught the errors, and fixed them.

While that's true, this was based off of the actual save itself, and not what was behind it. So, technically, the movie is factually correct as they got the story from both the CIA and Tony Mendez, just to make sure the facts were correct. We don't deserve as much credit as the Canadians do, but we do deserve credit for the save itself

I remember this awful takeover/hostage crisis. The hatred all felt.
I did not feel that hatred here. Affleck did not need to focus on it. He understood their hatred, and rather than hating back, he used his insight on how these people think to make his mission a win. He made his piers understand it, the 6 embassy members. Same way FBI profilers work and give that insight to help catch them. Hating them won't matter, understanding how they think does matter.

My heart is pounding at this point because he really stepped it up! Everyone's faces throughout the movie were tense & you're right along with 'em! I could have never kept that poker face, but it's like OMGee! 🙉Start that plane already! ✈🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️✌💜

I think it portrayed a stunning time in both Iranian and United States history. As someone who just saw the film, I have to say that wherever your opinion is coming from, it's off base. Affleck didn't make the movie to inspire hate. He made it because it's a story worth being told. And I don't hate or think less of Iranians just because they brought history to life. In fact, the only thing it did was make me want to read up more on that historical event to understand it better.

Interesting difference between this Argo trailer and the Argo movie:
In the movie, the science fiction movie on TV which inspires the CIA rescue plan is one of the Planet of the Apes films. In this Argo trailer, however (from 0:58 to 1:00), we see footage from the 1975 movie, The Giant Spider Invasion.
I only bring this up, because I watched The Giant Spider Invasion, last night, and that footage looked very familiar.
