The idea behind this song, is to celebrate those who do jobs that we would normally won't do. Without these people, the world would basically stop working
I am a cleaning lady and I don't work full time so my salary is much under the lowest wage in France. Before this job I was jobless for many years with no support from the government but a little from my family. This song hits different when you work hard jobs that are not praised by society at all. People look down on me all the time
Keep going I’d never look down on you You’re doing something that helps Something most of us wouldn’t even do you do it so we’d have a clean place to be without worries of dirt viruses Here’s a secret You’re saving lives and if you stoped cleaning and all other cleaners stoped We’d likely be dead! You’re a hero✅
I was a server for over 30 years, this song by no means brings me joy, it brings me sadness and sympathy for those who still do these kinda jobs, the beat is uplifting in a sarcastic way, this dude Stromae is a genius for sure! FYI, I speak fluent French and that might be one reason this song makes me feel this way!
Maestro Stromae! You absolutely have to listen to all his songs: Papaoutai, Formidable, Tous les mêmes, Ta fête, Carmen, Quand c’est, Ave Cesaria. All bangers! He’s just an incredible artist!! ❤️🙏🏼❤️
Stromae is a Belgian artist and fashion designer, who has already made 2 wonderful albums "Cheese" and "Racine carré". The Belgian singer offered himself the feat of filling the most prestigious arena on 02/10/2015 evening : Madison Square Garden. A concert that got 20,000 people in agreement. Stromae regaled us with his live performance of "Santé" at Jimmy Fallon. The release of Stromae's new album, "Multitude", is scheduled for March 4, 2022
@@kaderathebeekeeper22m3 Excellent one. I saw it when it aired, but it could be hard to pass US censorship on live tv wiht it. Themes of suicidal ideation are frowned upon.
Listen to the lyrics, the music sounds festive and works very well against the lyrics which are dramatic. Stromae is an incredible artist. Don’t hesitate to discover his other songs!
Heys guys! Now that I have discovered this amazing artist I would love to check out other songs he’s done. Please comment the ones you’d love to see me do. Thanks for watching!
Papaoutai Quand c'est ( about cancer..) Tous les mêmes Carmen Formidable He is amazing try to find the lyrics in English even if it is not as good as in french language because he plays With words He i
FYI Stromae is a french speaking Belgian artist and a huge star across Europe, and quite famous in North-America as well. His music is really creative, an often upbeat mix of rhythmic pop and electro with very well crafted lyrics (lots of puns in there). Although very dancy, his songs usually speak about serious matters. Let’s just add his videos are quite extraordinary. He sadly burnt out a decade ago and completely vanished from the public eye. This song is his first release ever since, before a new album in a few months.
Stromae (anagramme of Maestro) is simply a genius. He composes, sings, dances and makes incredible videos. He is publishing a new record after a break for nearly 7 years, in February next year (at least in France) - just can't wait to hear his new material. "Santé" is the first to be released.
Have you checked the story behind Papaoutai? His father was killed during the Rwandan genocide, I think this song cries the wounds of a young boy yearning for his father, absolutely stunning. Stromae's lyrics in French are of a whole other level, nothing, literally nothing compares to his poems. Every song is tackling deep social issues. Not a single stupid love song. You should also check how he came back from his first prolonged absence. He appeared drunk on the tramways, got stopped by the belgian police offering to take him home. The media exploded with this for a week, after what he released the music video of "formidable", which tells the story of a successful man who hit rock bottom. Genius.
"Every song is tackling deep social issues. Not a single stupid love song". My thoughts exactly, I totally agree with you. He is the definition of an artist!
He is a true artist because being an artist its not about money fame and success , it s opening mind and human spirits and heart. His song are not just smart, their are personal political arrangement. The music is a mix of latin traditionn al music, blending perfectly with modern culture, an hymne to diversity and respect and the fact you can be either a despicable selfish human or a honorable one, showing as many respect to the poor Nathan to the rich. This is a song for christmas time, released just before christmas, speaking about celebrating. I feel he is asking people to realize the true meaning of christmas, in a very Christian modern way, not saying religious world, he questionned also ourself about the meaning of the celebration. We celebrate the birth of a baby that will later give is life for other, for the poor, for the rejected one.« For Those who dosent have» « pour ceux qui n en ont pas la la la la lalalala ». I think he is really a great artiste. The Jimmy fallon show was amazing. His outfits, his tremolo deep voice when he is smiling... He does what real artiste do, i mean the maria carrey christmas song etc are mostly about profit and spending money on big illuminate mall strrets buying consuming...
Stromae's father was Rwandan and died in the Rwandan massacre. His mother is Belgian. He had a lot of good songs like this 8 to 9 years ago, then stopped performing. Maybe this song is from his "comeback" album. He speaks a very clear, crisp, French.
Hello! Your reaction was so beautiful and honest! I hope you get to enjoy more music from Stromae. Every song tells a story and he plays the characters in his songs with incredible artistic depth both in his music videos and his live performances. Thank you again for your refreshing reaction. I look forward to more of you. Blessings from New Orleans, LA!
Just found your channel. I subscribed because I love your mission. Sante (means health in French pronounced san tay). It also means toast or cheers as in when you are clinking your glasses. It's this latter sense that the song is referencing.
It' s very interesting looking the reaction ot this young guy looking "Santé" the new single clip of Stromae...just a thing i'm sure he cannot grasp all the linguistic quality, the puns, their sounds and the double meanings, but already like that his reaction is cool ... cheers ! (santé!)
Thank you for reacting. As european I don't speak french just understand couple of words but I love all his songs ! During this Covid-time I've visited his Ave Cesaria MV dozens of times. Just to remember what it's like to gather with you family. Subscribed. 🙂
Thank you Thank you to all English speakers for taking the time to listen to this Franco / Belgian artist ... I don't know if you can see / hear all the beauty and power of these texts even with the subtitles ??? I'm french girl of Quebec (Can) and I would really like to know your feelings and your opinions ... because yes he is an excellent artist and also a generous and incredible man; with a life story punctuated by happy moments and filled with love (private, family, artistic ...), he was on the contrary disturbed / shaken following traumatic events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stromae
You should've looked into the French lyrics more, you missed an opportunity to really discover and talk about the many clever word plays and puns. I recommend putting the lyrics in Google translate and of course read what french people are saying about it. His lyrics have so much depth and you barely scratched the surface
Your reactions are always intersting so I hope you gonna read this interpretation, it got stromae approval himself hehe: Stromae throughout the clip tries to teach the rhythm of "the happy life" to those who don't have one, and gradually everyone starts to watch carefully and do their best to learn it and end up happier, even if they still have the same job than before (showing that there are several paths to happiness). That explains as well the discrepancy between the slower rhythm of their movements and those of the music, that soften through the video clip. And it's done with such attention to detail (for example how at the beginning the woman on the train lost in her monotonous life is surprised by the music that starts and tries to find its source) and/or aesthetics ( (eg the expression of naive surprise of the old woman at 3:03 when she just realises that she is in front of the key to happiness) that it makes the clip beautiful even if "simple"
You may not speak a foreign language but for God’s sake please hear some major ones and be able to differentiate (hey this sounds like Spanish, French etc) or I dare you to even learn one. There is a WORLD out there!!! Sorry, enough with this majority American uneducated ignorant comments. Not everything is USA centered.
unknown individual??? ahah north americans can be so funny, Stromae one of the biggest selling artist in europe, unknown you say...next time try to choose your words, maybe say i'm ignorant about whatever happens outside the USA! still... better late than never ;)
Also, this reactor is intentionally choosing to ONLY react to stories, music, etc that is foreign. Yes, Americans can be ignorant about what happens outside the US however this guy is opening his mind (and inviting his audience to do the same). Again, I agree about American ignorance. Get this: I watched an interview with Stromae who was answering questions from a relatively young audience. One guy asks Stromae if he'd ever consider making an album in English. Now THAT guy? Totally f***ing ignorant! I was like, "Bruh, you're going to ask a Belgian artist who's mother tongue is French, about making an album in English?"" If that's not some American white man entitled bullshit, I don't know what is.

French is a nasty language:-) But to make it worse, French kids created a few decades ago some sort of new slang, based on syllabus inversion. For instance, instead of saying “Peter”, you would say “Ter-pe”, Suzy would move or Zy-su, Foreign would become Reign-fo, Woman Man-wo, and so on. This way of talking is now widespread and not only limited to kids. Stromae comes from that: it is initially Maestro (Italian word meaning Master of art), which became Stro-mae.

He's a star in Russia too.
A decade ago? In 2010? Nah his burnout was in 2020 and he's been more active in fashion ever since, just stepping away from the limelight a bit.
