Man that game against Atraxa in the beginning was a joy to watch. You explained so well how you used psychological tricks to trap them with the big finale. Well played.
24:05 is such a beautiful demonstration of the double-binds provided by Azorius Control. Blue's counterspells and white's single-target attacker-hate punish players for carefully meting out their threats, and white's board wipes punish overcommitting to the board. Adding blue's mill as a win con presents the same double bind on a whole new axis: if you maximize value you'll be milled out faster, but if you maximize damage then you'll run out of resources faster. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
@@rafaelrico maybe for self mill, until Golgari took that job. But nah, even in the old days of Antiquity, Azorious Control with 3 Millstone was winning. Just throw up removal and counterspell at anything that threatens you, and tap Millstone when they get low on cards.
I love seeing you win, but seeing you lose is almost (if not much more) gratifying. I think it's because you're so godawful cocky when you shouldn't be in certain situations. Lol! That back to back, off the top lightning strike to the face was so awesome.
I know I'm in a CGB comment section when I see a bunch of people commenting that he should've done something differently when they clearly don't know how the card works. Celestus is sorcery speed, people. It would be super busted if you could activate it at instant speed. It was highlighted for mana.
If I meet you at the tables out there in the public world I'd be happy to yell, "Whattup CGB!" Cause it sounds like we are in a Pendleton Ward cartoon.
Seems like it might be fun to try this theme in Esper, which can throw in Ertai as another destroy-you-draw plus maybe one or two Breach the Multiverse.
1:35:00 You should have played the land first and then Jace and then Dissipate here. He would have had to have another Negate to stop you and it seemed like all he had were 3 mana counters after.
That double lightning bolt though.. last night i played a shelly onto an open board and my opponent zero cards in hand. He topped a go for the throat. Next turn i played a second shelly same situation. He topped ANOTHER go for the throat. I cycled and drew a third shelly and played it and he topped an edict. I swear to god. Im in diamond 2 as well. Have been for the last 5 days lol.
Just fyi, u don't have to hover your opponents library to check the amount of cards they have left. Hovering either players face/life total or your own library also shows what they've got left.
Dude! Field of Ruin. It makes them draw a land and it saves you from all the Mirex / Blast Zone / Foundry deaths that have probably kept you from mythic for the last few days
CGB I’m sure you know that, but if you hover the cursor on your own library the opponent’s tooltip also lights up, but they don’t know that is what you’re checking because it looks like you’re concerned with self mill
The fact that Arena will flood you to death one game and then next game mana starve you with the same deck, it's terrible. So my deck has too much mana and too little at the same time?!? So obvious they fabricate losses to keep everyone around 50% win regardless of skill or build...
@gameschooldadMTG Funny, I play both paper since 96 and arena since 2019 and arena decks gets land screwed 1 way or another WAY more often than in paper for my whole play group.
@@gameschooldadMTG It happens in paper about 20-30% of the time, which is probable. It happens in arena something like 60-70% of the time. You should see the cards advantage I get from impulse drawing up to 3-4 cards a turn with some draw with advantage. Not no big score either, that not drawing that like paying for 2 cards to be 2 new cards so no card advantage, but read card advantage up to 2 or 5 if I you use the unearth the Phyrexia dragon engine.

Because of tempo loss. Takes a turn just to get it on the field, on top of the two mana to ATTEMPT to get a land from it, potentially taking two turns worth of tempo to get anything worthwhile. Also, if you believe that Arena fks with the shuffler then be aware it seems statistically likely they fk with the shuffler to neuter realm breaker specifically. I get a land with it about 20-30% of the time which is statistically BS. 1-((60-24)/60)^3 is 78.4%. That's the real MINIMUM odds of getting a land out of it each time you use it, but that has NEVER been my experience. I got sidetracked by my rage. Mathematically, Realm Breaker is good, but the shuffler hates me so much I could never make it give me shit.
