Wow, I never knew my show was online and with video..!! You see, my company, Music Futures, was the promoter of this show..! And the show at Grass Valley, and the Jerry Garcia Band in Grass Valley in 1983 to start my great and successful run producing shows with them. The following year in 1986 the show had to be canceled due to Jerry's illness. But, this show in 1985 remains the highlight of my concert producing days back in the '80s. Even though it may not have been one of their best, it sure was for me, 22,000 tickets sold, and it was indeed, "the highest Grateful Dead concert in the world!" I hope you were there, I know I was. I have lots of great photos but no video, so this was a blast for me to see this for the first time today.
Ya Boss!! Thanks Michael! Me and my brother Reed were there!! Sound probs the first set but the 2nd set opened with China Cat- INYR and they blew doors the rest of the way! Then we all trippped thru the tall Pines and down to Lake Forrest drive on the Lakefront! Epic adventures! Aloha always Billy Scott Wilson
I have the poster of the show that never happened there in 86 ! And the T from"7000ft above Haight Ashbury " Cal/Nevada Deadheads .. btw this re master sounds great thanks Chuck! The live system had troubles that first set.. I see that this audio is sb although I can still hear the grounding issues haha. The wind was howling thru their mikes that day too.. Keep the Faith my people!! #BillyScottWilsonBand
Indeed, I was there.
So glad these amazing shows and stories are archived here! - I just found this channel - it popped up while I was watching David Gans live…
Kevin loves Phil so I love Kevin. Always so great. Thanks for the effort.
what a mess it was getting to Boreal for this. Its was sooo hot, traffic for miles....all that work and then the band lands in a helicopter! Well worth the effort :)
I was peaking on shrooms when I reached the top with the sled. They started the drum solo and down I went. I'll never forget that. It was hot too. I remember that.
It was hot as shit. Didn't they quit the show in the middle?
Jefferson Starship opened that day, they killed it. Still remember them covering fooled around and fell in love after someone thru a Elvin Bishop hat onstage, Awesome. I also still remember the dead played truckin.. sometimes the lights all shining on me. ..
This show was great we were camping in the mountains 20 minutes away when this Agra ranger at stop on highway said you going to shows. We said yes in la Vegas. 2 weeks from then he said lake Tahoe show tomorrow at 2 00 clock. We said ho. Shit next day. Front row show. Dosed. Out of our minds. Great show ever. 8000 people here come s. Sunshine 🎉😅
I lived in Reno for a year and saw every W. Coast show. This wasn't a great show, but the location was great. The Greek shows were really good, and JGB band shows were killer. Saw one at the Stone in Palo Alto that was one of my best
The stone in Palo Alto? Some of if not the best jgb shows in the 1980's . Unreal
cool! I saw this week in a group someone posting a pic of the box of this vhs. I didn't remember it ever being on a release.
Drove 11 hours on my Motorcycle with mic stand ducktaped to the side to this show.
It was hot with dust devils attacking everyone & the elevation was making lowlanders sick including Jer.
11:18 Bobby shows that amp who's the boss.
i drove down from Seattle for this show in a 67 american street ship, some big 4 door that cost me bucks for the gas, then after the show drove back to seattle but with a car load of great young people who helped me with that gas... btw, it takes more gas when driving towards the equator than driving north from it, don't know why but i have my suspicions.
ThankS V LOVE THE CROWD memories pleasant always ☘️🌻🌷
The equiptment malfunctions were as bad as this guy's camera work.
I remember this show as being the highest Dead show 8000+ ft.
Hi in a number of ways
is there video of the Bucket? word has it that Weir melted down hard…. didn’t they have a back up amp for him?
Trouble Ahead, Jerry’s in red!
You rock, Voo ☮️
I was one of those idiots dancing like right in front of the stage, great to have been at the "highest dead show on earth"..💀🌹🏵
Here it is, the infamous "worst show ever". well at least until Vegas 94...laugh out loud
I’d love to hear a recording of grass valley jerry band
21:45
Bob kicks that amp in the face!
That'll fix it. 😄
Only show I didn’t have such a good time...🥴☀️🗻🗯

💣
Bobby had a bad start to that show from what I saw... (I was between the board and the stage) The camera here missed it, but Bobby was kicking the heck out of his amp... It was actually kind of impressive as he was wearing those thin kinda cheap k-mart sneakers. He's got strong feet!
Oh and QuickSilver played a show down the hill a day or so later.
Well he's posted video of himself running barefoot at his current age, so you're right!
This is where I hitched a ride in the pally wagon!!!
I think I was there…maybe 😂
Well HAWT DAWG!!!! Amazing
Brent never had off nights. he kicked ass right through that PA noise!
Worst Grateful Dead show I ever saw, but as much fun as you could have at a venue..
Good trade off :)
I'm with you on the worst show part. Bob had amp troubles during the first set and he ended up kicking it over in frustration. They sort of gave up after that. It was a weird day and people who probably were too high were trying to climb up poles into the ski lifts (approximately 50 feet off the ground) that during the winter convey folks up the mountain; very scary to watch as they were seriously risking their safety, if not their lives. At least the band felt sufficiently guilty about the lackluster performance that they coughed up a rare "Day Tripper" to ease the pain before they helicoptered out and we faced the disappointed three hour drive back to San Francisco.
@@RobHollanderMusic My memory of this show is that they just they kind of quit in the middle of the show?? Did they do a second set? It was totally the worst show ever, blistering hot, and me and my friends just kind of clung on to the hill higher up a little bit where it was too steep to dance and to hot to do much of anything when normally we would have been throwing down hard. I went searching for this show tonight after trying to describe it to someone to see if I made the whole thing up!
Thank you. I do not have money.
Thank you. I do not have money now. Paula mulford.
Burial Ridge. Good Day Tripper though.
