- The Tams perform three of their beach music classics (What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am/Hey Girl, Don't Bother Me/Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy) in uptown Charlotte, NC.
HELLO, I SAW THEM IN MYRTLE BEAC AT THE SHOW ROOM IN THE HOLIADAY INN , THE TAMS .....GREAT BAND , JOHN FROM NORTH CAROLINA.
Ain't nothing better than good old Carolina Beach Music especially when played by the Tams

Leslie Purifoy Plunkett Wish I knew what the relationships were among the families. When I first started watching and listening to the Tams in the mid-60's, there was an Al Cottle with group. I don't know when he left. I think Lil Red is a Cottle, although I think I heard him once say Charles Pope was his father. Don't know who the Harrises are. I do remember there was a Floyd Ashton, I think, early in the group's history. He was replaced by Al Cottle, I guess. Now all the originals are gone except for Robert Lee Smith who went off to start his own version of the Tams. I'm sure there's no love lost. I remember Horace Key who sang "A Little More Soul". I suspect he always had some health issues.

my Dad turn me on to the Tams at Augusta, Ga Border Bash when I was younger went every year up to 2010
As a DJ for shaggers, the original tunes from the 60's are what I play. The new group is more of a party group. Lil Redd is the lead and you get exhausted trying to dance to the fast tempo's they sing. Give me the original songs with Joe and Charles . Both have passed but they would draw a crowd for sure.
