I like the location so close to Central Park and the subway. The living space and the kitchen are both generous, and the in-unit laundry is a real plus. The bedrooms are narrow but functional. The downside is that it's a basement apartment and it's dark. So little natural light would depress me.
Living in a subterranean apartment could prove to be depressing, but I love the layout & the privacy. And the Park is your backyard. How Awesome is that?
@@robertharris4100 Also, since it’s NY, you probably won’t be spending much time there anyway. If I had the choice, I’d definitely take an apartment on the first/second floor, but that’s a decent price for what you’re getting. I’d have a hard time passing it up, even though I’m not particularly fond of basement apartments.
This living space is truly unique & one of a kind in NYC. This is one of my favorite videos because you're having so much fun; and we can enjoy it vicariously through your excitement. I do wish there was more natural light. I felt like the living space was in a cave. You definitely have privacy and to be in Central Park is Fantastic; Almost like living in a fairy tale. If you don't mind living in a basement, this is the apartment for you. For those people who love an industrial vibe, you have the water pipes running through the apartment. The rooms are big with plenty of space, and the fact that the building is completely detached allows for a lot of sunlight to brighten the place. It's the Upper West Side, one of the best areas in New York City and near Central Park, with Riverside Park just a few blocks away.
It's a light, bright, with windows basement. While basement might imply dungeon, it isn't, it's a pretty home. I wouldn't even mention basement if asked where I live. We've seen dark and dreary, this isn't.
@@hothotheat3000 I wouldn't trust a basement apartment in the city period even though it does have burglar bars. Can't do it and now that you mentioned the flooding, I really can't do it.

That part of Manhattan is on high ground and it is doubtful it would flood. That would have to be one heck of a storm if that floods. Would feel better though if the entrance was inside the building though. The Brave Little Toaster was the Best EVER. I loved it when blanking cried at the top of the steps and the Hoover vacuumed the forest. Oh such memories. No wonder I like you and your videos
This place actually looks like a home. All of the light from the ground level windows helps, and the fact that there is no one below you makes me think it will be quieter than most. The neighborhood is great, and I can almost smell the pho. Also, so nice not to have to buy furniture and cart it all in.
@@maddscientist3170 the roof is concrete or brick, see the arches? so you are in a really good solid basement. These arches are probably steel beams along the bottoms of the arches and then a brick arch between them. It will be quiet with a concrete/brick floor above you.
Subterranean Home Sick Blues! A stand-alone building right by Central Park in a great neighbourhood. It's a basement apartment in a long, narrow space, ( divided nicely into 'rooms'), but with little natural light. At $3,400.00 a month, ($41,400.00 a yr. + electricity & utilities), it's sure not cheap. There's no separate entry-way, so you're just immediately in the living-room area. I agree with other commentators, it could be really depressing. The kitchen area is really well-planned with high-end appliances. Whoa! The kitchen actually has a little window! I suppose you could use the water pipes as part of the decor. In-house laundry is a plus. The bed-rooms are spacious, 'tho somewhat narrow with little natural light. That 2nd bed-room was a surprise and even has somewhat more light. Glad to see that both have their own doors. This apartment is totally illegal, those are not fu[[-sized egress windows, they are barred. Where's the 2nd fire exit? Every apartment needs to have 2 exits by law! I, (unwittingly), lived in an illegal basement apartment when I returned to Toronto, years ago with only one exit 'thru the sliding glass patio doors. My land-lord got into trouble with the fire department afterwards, rumour has it. p.s. Good point, guys, about the flooding hazard! Sleepless in Toronto
Cash got me figuring out ways to pack up and move to NYC. That apartment is perfect, IMO. The garden is everything! Also, Brave Little Toaster was a favorite of mine and my sons when they were little.
This location is dope! I love the building and the apartment! It's all just great! It's fabulous that the front door doesn't dump you into the kitchen immediately. Not sure why that's such a common thing in apartments, but who wants to see the kitchen first? Houses aren't like that.
Most people don't want to walk to the whole house bringing their groceries in so at least the secondary entrance/side entrance/rear entrance or whatever it happens to be will be directly to the kitchen
$3450/month AND fully furnished? This one is a YES even though it is a basement apartment. I picture this as a perfect roommate situation. Nice neighborhood, garden, stand alone structure... this should rent very quickly.
