I was under the impression that high amounts of guests caused the lag, so I played in sandbox mode for a bit with the number of guests limited to 500... only to discover that it made no difference. I was stumped. 😅 Thanks for explanation.

Sometimes having a massive number of guests packed into a small area can cause lag, but usually that isn't the only issue causing the game to lag. Other common causes of lag include having too many climbable objects (or objects in general) in a small area, having an excessively high number of animals in your zoo, or having too many big habitats. To avoid lag, try to make smaller habitats with fewer animals if it's possible, and try to disable climbing on climbable objects that animals aren't using.
Also, if you like to make super detailed builds in your zoos, it might be a good idea to make your zoos a bit smaller, since a super high piece count in one save file can contribute to issues with lag.

what causes lag is the habitats. i built an entire in depth world without habitats. i made 1 and it crashed my game. habitats kill it.

I was hoping this would help, but when I have more than one thing selected, the disable climbing button won't tick. No matter what I try, it stays green. This is in career and in sandbox. I still have to disable on Every. Single. Item. Individually. 😢 Is there a fix for that, or am I unique?
